Not…read moreknowing a lot about the health insurance world I chose a plan that had a decent yearly individual deductible. My plan is almost $400 a month. Having just moved to Ohio I needed a new Doctor for mental health purposes. The young lady that answered the phone could not have made me feel more like I had the plague once I mentioned I had Molina Health insurance, she indicated this was Medicaid and they don't take Medicaid. I said, I don't have Medicaid, I pay out of pocket every month for my insurance. Very degradingly she said "Molina is considered Medicaid" we do not take it". Oooof the anxiety the response gave me. So I asked if I could be a self pay patient, as I just need to see a doctor to get my mental health under control. She said we can't do self pay if you have Medicaid. I said I don't have Medicaid I have Molina. LordT if I could have only known that I would be treated like a leper I would have never mentioned my insurance plan. I really wish people were nicer in the office and realize that there are REAL people suffering from mental health problems. Being kind really goes a long way, you never know how your tone or inflection can trigger someone's mental health.

Doctor McLaughlin instantly put me at ease when I met him at an inpatient unit. Whenever I have a question or concern, he gets right back to me - usually the same day! He will take the time to listen to me, and make sure he understands what I'm saying. Then he also gives me info, and makes sure I understand the plan. I very much appreciate the fact that he works with me. If I feel something isn't right with my meds, he'll let me experiment within a range and let him know what works. He won't just write a script because I ask, but if he believes it's appropriate he'll do it. He even takes the time to get to know me personally; when I go for a follow-up (sometimes several months later) he will ask me about stuff that I told him I was going to do. He remembers my interests, and treats me like a person, not just a mental disorder.

So I was missing $200 from my checking account for about 1 month and a half before they finally reimbursed me. Countless efforts to contact them were met only by an answering machine; as far as I can tell there is no way to directly speak with anyone when you call, there is only a voicemail option. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible experience. My provider was…read moreabsolutely amazing -- she genuinely cared, listened, and went above and beyond to help me figure out what I needed. Unfortunately, the rest of this office completely ruined the experience. I was being overcharged, and despite calling for over four days, I heard nothing back from the front desk or billing department. While I did change my insurance, even my insurance company was confused as to why the charges were so high. I was not out of network, and yet my premium was suddenly five times higher than it should've been. I will absolutely be following up on this, and if I find out I was being overcharged for all of my visits, I will be filing a formal complaint with CMS. That kind of practice is fraud, plain, and simple. It's also worth noting that if you don't pay immediately, they're quick to send your bill to a third-party handler -- and once they do, they claim it's "out of their hands." That is unacceptable. The fact that I had to personally correct their clerical error says a lot. While my doctor was wonderful, I will not be returning due to the office's shady billing practices and lack of accountability. Something is definitely fishy here, and I wouldn't recommend anyone go through the same headache. And before anyone comments with an apology -- don't. Life is expensive enough as it is, and getting over on your patients financially is disgusting. I will not be having it.
