On my way home from the church I was attending, I stopped to watch a number of children and their teachers in the back field by the church running races. I was approached by a man in a suit expecting to be asked to join with them in worship. He did not say hello, he did not ask my name, instead, he very rudely asked me to move on. I, of course, was shocked, to which he responded, "I don't know who you are..." I said, "My name is ******* ***************, and now you do know me (I extended my hand which was not taken)... what is your name?" "Why do you want to know my name?" "Because I just introduced myself," I said. "Mark Jones," the man said. "And I'm asking you to leave." I said, "I see you're coming out from a church, I don't think that is a very Christian thing to say." "It's the times... do I have to call the cops?" I smiled and said, "I will remember you Mark Jones," (if that is his name)... I continued, "why don't you google my name." And I left. I respect this man's fear of the "times," (I do hope his manners were not racially motivated), but that is what we believers in Christ are here to improve; it is not to fall in line with anti-Christian behavior. You don't fight deviance by becoming a deviant. I have been a missionary for many years, actually serving on the first Methodist bible school team to Haiti. I am a coach, an educator (Masters in Education) and a father. I had resigned myself to forgetting the incident, but the thought that this representative of your church might do further damage to your reputation disturbed me, and thus, I write. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I felt you should be informed.

They were kind, caring and loving like the God they serve. The experiences I've had with the Saturday food line have been healing to my soul as I have gone from running ministries for The Lord, to hitting rock bottom. It's humbling but I felt no judgement from anyone. I was a little early to go through the food line one Saturday and met some homeless people waiting for the showers and haircuts... They were sharing food amongst them and also sharing resources. We all struggle at times but it's only for a season. And during those rough times; knowing there are churches that do God's will and are a light in the darkness is such a comfort. The one review on Yelp talking about having to pre register and being treated badly seemed so out of character from what I experienced . I hope this person will give them another try.

They always block the city streets so we can't drive through because of all the cars lined up in the street. We came this morning to get some food, because we are having a tight week with money. It doesn't say anything on the website that you have to pre register. After waiting over an hour in line this morning when our time came the people running the food drive, and deacon Dan started yelling at us, and the lady running were yelling and telling us to leave. What kind of community service is this when you yell at people and tell them to just leave, get out of here. I will never recommend this place to anyone. They let all kinds of people go across the street to people's homes and they smoke cigarettes before going in, and after coming out. It is extremely unpleasant to have to walk past. It also breeds a community of homeless people that will wander the residential streets until it's time to be fed again, or get a haircut, or shower. I'm glad that there is a service for the less fortunate but the people running the show, mainly the lady that was with Deacon Dan is rude beyond belief. Zero stars

Let the record show: I am writing this review to inform, not to attack…read more In June 2025, I reported a sexual assault by a member of Family Church Young Adults. From the beginning, my experience has been deeply disappointing. Instead of pastoral care, I was met with disbelief, spiritual manipulation, and attempts to silence me "for the sake of unity." I was told that if I spoke out, I would be causing division in the body of Christ. No one from leadership consistently walked alongside me, checked on my well-being, or provided meaningful protection (as they are trained and obligated to do). At one point, I was even pressured to meet face-to-face with my perpetrator to "hash things out" and "get to the bottom of the truth," because "it was possible that I had misunderstood the whole situation." This was neither safe nor biblical. The church also allowed my perpetrator to attend our co-ed overnight Young Adults retreat, despite my expressed concerns and discomfort. When I continued to raise concerns and finally went public after three months of isolation, I was removed and banned from fellowship--told not to attend church gatherings at any Family Church location, or I would be trespassed and arrested on sight. Leadership even attempted to criminally charge me for exercising my constitutional right to speak out online. Family Church went so far as to post police outside a Tuesday night Bible study. The West Palm Beach Police Department confirmed the church had no case against me. However, these extreme actions have now drawn further scrutiny and launched a larger investigation into the church's handling of abuse. Scripture is clear: "Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them" (Ephesians 5:11). Unity is never built by covering sin; it is built on truth and accountability. I am now working with law enforcement and legal counsel because what I experienced at Family Church was not only a failure of leadership but also potentially a violation of victim protection rights. This is not about one individual's sin but about how leadership chooses to handle serious allegations. If you are considering attending here, please know: churches should be safe places where victims are believed, protected, and shepherded with care. Sadly, that was not my experience at Family Church--nor has it been the experience of others, who are now coming forward because of my bold stance. I pray they choose repentance, transparency, and true biblical accountability moving forward. But until then, prospective members should ask: What are they hiding? And how many others have been silenced?

I wanted to experience the love of God in action. I wanted to hear joyful praise music. Finally, I discovered Family Church and I love it! The lead pastor Jimmy teaches straight from the Bible. Pastor Jimmy is authentic, humble, sometimes funny, relatable, and has a high regard for the Bible. He's a spectacular teacher. I've never been bored or sleepy during one of his services. The staff is really warm and helpful, you certainly will be made to feel welcomed. The congregation is friendly, welcoming, nonjudgmental. If you need prayer for something they will pray with you and for you. The contemporary music is gorgeous, each song selected is based on truth. Not only is the music uplifting and entertaining, it is worshipful and inspires the praise and awe that glorifies the Lord. I was surprised to discover the high level of talent in the music ministry. It is really a blessing. Childcare is available. There are many opportunities to connect in smaller groups. There are ample opportunities to serve if that's of interest to you. The youth ministries are really fantastic and if my children were not adults, I'd be delighted to have them involved with such encouraging people pointing them to a relationship with Jesus. Family Church Downtown encourages and supports young people to grow spiritually, to learn the Bible and to spread the Good News. Family Church has people from the very young to the aged. There are many ministries available in other languages, and services for hearing impaired people. If you're seeking a Bible believing church home, I would highly recommend checking out Family Church. If you're young, old or in the middle, married or divorced have a huge family or are all alone, whatever your background, culture, skin tone, political leanings, rich or poor, Family Church will welcome you.

The Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea…read more This is one of the most beautiful churches I've ever visited -- not just in Florida, but anywhere. The architecture feels very Italian-inspired, with stunning details, fresco-like elements, and a timeless elegance that immediately transports you somewhere in Europe. The grounds are just as magical as the building itself. There's a peaceful courtyard with a small pond where you can feed fish -- such a calming and quiet spot, perfect for slowing down and enjoying the moment. We've also attended their Easter celebration, and it's absolutely beautiful for families. They organize a children's egg hunt (5 eggs per child), but honestly, it's more about the experience than the quantity. The atmosphere is warm, festive, and incredibly well organized. People are genuinely kind and welcoming. One of the most memorable parts is the live organ music during Easter -- it creates such a powerful and almost mesmerizing atmosphere. Be prepared: if you plan to go inside the church on Easter, there is usually a long line. With kids, it can be a bit challenging. However, they thoughtfully provide a large outdoor screen with a live stream of the service, so you can still enjoy everything from the courtyard. Parking can be tricky -- mostly street parking around the church. A little tip: you can park near The Breakers Palm Beach and take a short walk, and the area itself is beautiful.
