It's with great sadness I write this out of a great conviction and love of others to warn. If you're not involved here, don't take a chance with your time, sweat, tears or heart. There are other, worthy churches in the immediate area.
This is a #churchtoo church and one with a history of leadership affairs, coverups, and abuse--evil stuff the Bible warns shepherds specifically not to do or be a part of.
After a dozen years of attendance, friendships, and giving through service and tithes, we feel ours have been destroyed and wasted because of disqualifying sin from the pulpit and attempts to cover it up at the Journey.
Sadly, this was our second personal experience with an up close witness personal affair in leadership and then a coverup. And more have always been rumored about.
Here's our story. When you read it, ask who allowed this to happen? Who's lack of discernment and judgment or integrity? Sadly, my good friend's, of course.
Part 1

Who took a chance and hired his brother-in-law after being previously fired from another church for exactly the same disqualifying sin?
Who would keep that a secret from friends and the church until the grooming repeated and the fallout would reign down again?
In the immediate aftermath of just blowing up 2 marriages, who would allow this pastor to do weddings of unsuspecting couples for the Journey, again, after being caught in a long term affair?
Why? Why let him do weddings? Because there was a hope it would sway the narrative away from the truly egregious nature of this disqualifying sin for those outside the know and outside the inner circle of friends. And, for those in the circle, who of course knew the severity and devastation and also witnessed the utter lack of repentance that followed, we were made to feel we needed to help keep this secret as well.
Who would foolishly or deviously vouch for his brother-in-law's repentance while the affair was still continuing again?
Part 2

Who would gaslight and shame anyone who would dare ask why such craven hypocrisy was being allowed? This was what I experienced after a decade of friendship. I was humiliated, shamed and told it was I who was the problem in this situation.
Who showed a complete lack of empathy for Lake Worth Christian School students that knew and would be affected by the hypocrisy and secret keeping they were literally asked to endure?
Who personally asked the students to keep this hush so his brother-in-law "could make a difference at Lake Worth Christian School for a generation?"
Remember who kept pushing this ball along hoping to cross some proverbial finish line to keep his family's secret and would continue to cover up once this pastor could no longer keep his first "repentant" promise and ravish desires any longer.
Who has made us repeatedly lose faith in the church and it's leadership. My good friends in charge at the Journey Church.
Journey has no elders to provide accountability to the lead pastor. Instead, a well groomed group of friends and family hold board of director memberships to provide faux "oversight" to make us think this place is above reproach and safe.
Lead pastor, Scott Baugh, should step down and the board needs to resign for any chance of integrity to be restored to Journey Church. Unfortunately, we've seen this with these guys before.
If you believe in anything good at all, don't make the same mistake we did, we didn't know. Now, you do.
People are nice.
Godspeed.
