Each table seats 6 and you can have dinner and theatre, if you so choose. There are waiters in the theatre and you can order drinks and food at your table during the show and intervals. We were introduced to this place by local friends and they had booked tickets for Rockabilly, a variety show. It's a fairly small stage but the show was extremely entertaining. All shows are of course in German but, easy to follow if you don't speak the language. The staff were very attentive and friendly and brought out drinks pretty quickly. I loved the ambience here and would come back in a heartbeat. I was amazed not to have heard about this place, after three years in Munich. A fabulous activity for a weeknight or weekend evening. Tickets can be booked online or obtained at the theatre.

The venue is intimate, I can't imagine there's a bad seat in the house. The program was top notch. A classic variety line-up, from acrobatics to magic, rope-work, ventriloquism, lounge singing, comedy sketches, etc. Though it was our night out, we couldn't help but think what a kick our kids would have had. It would have been past bedtime, but there weren't really any inappropriate moments. Our experience in the restaurant immediately after the show was not so great. Our entrees were prime rib and fish. Service was fine, but the the food was terrible, covered in generic sauces both salty and bland at the same time. Dessert was supposed to be crème brûlée but reminded me more of a greasy semolina pudding. The food reminded me unfortunately of a second-rate off-strip casino buffet. My recommendation: skip the restaurant and go straight to the show!

There is a balcony level and, I am guessing a total capacity of about 300 people. It has the classic look of a theatre from the days gone by. We went tonight to see our first live theatre play / comedy performance here, since coming to Germany, called "Ziemlich beste freunde". We have been to numerous live musical performances and so on in Germany but not to a play / comedy. Note that all performances here are only in German. I did not see anything else for the rest of the year besides German language plays. It is a lovely theatre and they have many comedies playing here. I can't really tell but it seems, there are plays that are not comedies also playing here. If small theater with small cast is your thing, you will love it. The play we saw was in total a cast of 6 people. It's really about the dialogue, the story and the acting and, the one we saw was brilliant, funny with great actors. Having seen hundreds of small theatre performances over the years, it was excellent to go to a small German live play. There is a bar on the lower level where you can get a drink and some snacks before the show. People are a bit more dressed up here which was a surprise, and I made a mental note for the next time. It's not very expensive to buy tickets for the performances here and I am more than likely to come back here to see other comedies. I much prefer this to a cinema. I will definitely come here again. It's a great way to spend an evening in Munich and be entertained. After the performance you can go to the bars at the Hotel and or night club for the night owls ;-) There are plenty of places for pre theatre dinner nearby.

Civilized because its main attendees are locals and not the crazy visitors that turn Oktoberfest into a festival of bad behavior and much public vomiting. Awesome! We rode the subway here and walked about 10 minutes into the large parade grounds/open field where this event (and Oktoberfest) is held annually. It was very easy to find with signage pointing us in the right direction. It's free to enter and roam around and shop and eat. We ate all kinds of street foods from the vendors and saw a few small "beer gardens" you can walk into and get a drink and stand and eat and talk. There are only two main tents at this spring festival, which is fine with me, because it hasn't happened in a few years due to COVID, both were completely packed with prior reservations and we weren't able to find a seat inside to eat. So, for the foreseeable future, I suggest you make reservation in advance if you really, really want to eat inside. You can find tons of traditional Bavarian food here and other things like churros and crepes to help satisfy you. There are a ton of fun rides as well that the younger crowd seemed to really be enjoying. With all of the foods I ate, didn't seem like a good idea to me! Make sure to bring cash because, most of the vendors aren't going to take cards. Some might, but it's just a better bet to have around $50-70 and if you plan to drink a lot, I'd bring even more.

If you…read moreare looking for something to do in Munich on Sunday, I would recommend visiting the Egyptian Museum. It is a great deal as admission is only 1 euro on Sundays. I have visited many museums, but one dedicated to Egyptian artifacts is a rarity. Of which the museum has an extensive collection. Expect to spend 1-2 hours here. The museum itself is very clean, modern and spacious. While I did not know much about the subject matter beforehand, it was nice to learn a little more about then I previously knew. It didn't make me want to visit Egypt, but I appreciated the history of the artifacts that I viewed.

Surprisingly, or perhaps unsurprisingly, this is not the first Egyptian museum I've been to (no, to…read moremy knowledge I am not Egyptian). It is, however, by far the nicest. "What is an Egyptian museum doing in Munich," I thought, but more specifically, what is Germany doing with this many Egyptian relics? Why is this collection large enough to be housed in a museum here? Well I'm sure some of you could enlighten me with the history, and probably several of you are rolling your eyes at my ignorance of some ruler and how important the Egyptian culture was to him, specifically, but no matter. I enjoyed this museum as much, if not more, than I've enjoyed most museums I've visited in my adult life, and that was due in part to the museum building itself--the architecture and the overall design is spectacular. The brutalist structures both highlighted the museum pieces and could stand alone as art by themselves. Beyond that, the employees were friendly, despite the hanging feeling that Americans-who-only-speak-English are not welcome everywhere we went, and the collection is seriously impressive. Tons and tons of stuff to look at, and all very well preserved. We spent a decent amount of time walking through here, about 3-4 hours. We took advantage of the free, self-guided, recorded English tour, but also stopped to appreciate most of the items that weren't mentioned, as well. Didn't have much time to peruse the store or enjoy the cafe, but that's fine. I will say that the foods at American museum cafes are much better than what I've seen outside of the US. Definitely make a stop here but eat elsewhere.

It's not just cases full of objects behind glass. Depending on your party and how they like these type of things, plan for at least half a day; the place is enormous and easy to get lost in, which is half the fun. The kids' sections held up well for the younger ones, and the aviation and engineering exhibits kept the adults just as occupied. You can bring in food and some of the areas allow food and drinks so bring your lunch and find a place in the halls to sit if you want to. Buy your ticket online before you go. The walk-up queue when we visited was long enough to lose a meaningful chunk of your day, and there's no reason to stand in it. Depending on which ticket type you get, you may need to stop at the information desk to convert to a paper ticket before entry, which nobody tells you upfront. Some visitors seemed to go straight through; we did not. Either way, sort that out before you walk to the entry gate or you'll end up backtracking.

Next time we're in Munich, I'd happily come back to see the exhibits we missed. My teenage kids even said this is the best museum they've ever visited, and they've been to many museums around the world. Definitely a memorable experience for all of us.
