Judith (the leader) is kind and friendly and some how manages to remember every child by name. She runs a tight ship and only asks that we don't chatter when she is addressing the group in group time and to make sure you watch your own child during play time. Some might prefer the open plan, purpose built centres, but here they have converted an old hall and made good use of the space. I love wandering from room to room experiencing the different set ups and themes and yes, my child loves it too! The main room at the front offers a small trampoline, climbing equipment and a rope swing. There is new equipment in here every few months and plenty of space to run about. The next area is a small anteroom which plays host to the kid's kitchen with oven, table and chairs and miniature wooden and plastic food to cut and serve. The kitchen leads through to the main playroom which is overwhelming at first with the amount of equipment on offer. Balance across planks, climb up, slide down, shimmy through tunnels and kick and throw soft balls. This is where most of the children migrate. One bonus of having different rooms is if your child is having trouble with another youngster (and let's face it, they all do sometime or other), you can steer them to another area and avoid the conflict. Circling back to the front is the carpeted room where all classes finish with a song and dance. From here, you're back to the front entrance with a few large tables, bathrooms and a small kitchen/cafe where you can purchases snacks and coffees. Many parents bring their children's lunch and join friends from class for an early lunch before nap times. Judith is the teacher and a master of her craft. But be warned, if you're caught socialising with other parents instead of interacting with your children, you'll be sent to the principal's office. Given this is the only adult interaction some parents have all day, I do feel this is a little harsh. Unley Kindergym is very popular and most classes have wait lists, but it's worth it if you're patient.

So unless you want to try find a local private sitter or family day care style arrangement (not even sure if FDC do overnighters) this is the place to go. Great for hospital and shift workers with odd start or finish times. The staff still try as much as possible to keep the children in routine. It's amazing being in a centre with so many kids all making noise at dinner time and then a few hours later you, with any luck, have most of them down for sleep. It's also odd with parents coming to drop off and pick up kids at unusual hours sometimes. But they do offer a fantastic unique service and their pricing is still comparable to other centres for care on a per session basis. Even though it's in the city there is still a reasonable outside play area for them here. If you NEED ongoing care I suggest you get on the waiting list as soon as possible though!!!

The Director runs two centres, the one in the city and another in Sturt and the city site is open 24 hrs a day. Its city location also makes is so perfect for parents who work in the city and may not finish until late into the night. This means there is only a little distance to travel to pick up their little ones and take them home. There is also ample parking out the front which is a rare find for a city business. The centre is run by qualified childcare workers and offers a great number of services. Wholesome and nutritious meals are served and the price is included in the overall expense of the Centre. They take on children from birth to school age (around 4 or 5) and have different rooms and areas to cater to different ages and needs. The staff have planned activities for the children everyday and cater to those with learning difficulties or those who may have social or interaction problems.

They have a really lovely team of carers who are all well trained and have a sincere interest in caring for young'uns. Rhianna is the Director and looking after children runs in the family. Soon after we started, my mum collected my son and met Rhianna's mum, Sandy. A short conversation resulted in the discovery that Sandy had cared for me in the late 1970s. It was then I knew I'd made the right decision. In terms of the layout, the centre has three main rooms all leading off the reception area - babies, toddlers/pre-kindy and kindy. The baby's room has an alcove that houses the permanent cots with named bedding for each child (washed each week). There's a door leading directly outside the baby's room where part of the verandah has been sectioned off to allow the youngster a safe place to play and watch and interact with the older children through the fencing. Both the baby room and toddler room lead to a shared junior toilets and nappy changing area. The toddler room is a larger space with many books, large cushions and small tables for meals and crafts. Small camp beds are brought out for nap time and each child has their own sheet (washed weekly). Once a child is 3 years old and toilet trained, they move into the kindy room. This has more toys appropriate to children aged 3 to 6 including role play. Four junior toilets are directly off of this room as is the kitchen where all the meals are prepared. The christmas show is an absolutely highlight and we've been invited to attend again this year to watch a friend's 2 year old. It will be a joy for both of us to reminisce our years here. I've recommended this centre to many friends who have all be happy with the service provided. Only trouble is securing a place. With the new ratios, I'm afraid it will be even harder.

All the staff are excellent and to see our daughter's eyes light up when she sees them in the morning is amazing. The carers have been here for ages which makes parents like myself feel reassured and develop great relationships with the people who are raising my kids. If you are around the area, please consider this warmly and homely place for your child. And my personal favourite thing about Goldilocks, it always smells great and there is a calming music playing with happy children at drop offs and pick ups.

However, from our very first meeting, Zaida immediately put my mind at ease, providing comfort and assurance that my boys would be in excellent hands. Zaida not only made my transition back to work smoother but also went above and beyond with regular updates, photos, and a willingness to accommodate the flexibility I needed in my work schedule. Our boys always enjoy their time at Zaida's with the many fun filled activities and on a few occasions, my youngest son didn't want to leave upon pick up, a remarkable change from his initial adjustment period! I put this down to Zaida's genuine care of the children and treats them as if they were her own which is such a comfort and what every parent wants, to know that their children are in good hands and loved. Having Zaida in our lives has been a true blessing. We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have found such a wonderful educator, and Zaida has undeniably become an integral part of our family circle.
