I was doing my laundry at the nearby Quicklean and I wanted to buy something to nibble on while my load was tumble drying, so I went to Belcap to look for something to snack on. I was on my way out when I saw a very familiar, very handsome face. My brain screamed something that my mouth did not dare to utter out of fear of humiliation from the crowd that has assembled to ogle at this person. "I LOOOOOOVE YOU, PIOOOOOOLOOOOO!!" was the sentence that I didn't have the guts to say out loud.
Mr. P himself. In the flesh. With some lady called Sarah Geronimo, or whatever her name is (lol).
Turns out they were filming a movie, and they have chosen the building as a location. I have had the biggest crush on Piolo since like, forever. I wanted to invite him into Quicklean so that I could launder his clothes....
Now, I know that Belcap has been a Maginhawa instititution even long before I moved to the village. It is well known for its tocino, chorizo, longanisa and tapa - frozen preserved food items that are great breakfast hits. It also has some really good home-prepared preserves, pickles and other canned, bottled or jarred food items that were prepared in small batches. The merchandise come from far and wide, and the store is home to such delicacies. When I still ate meat, I used to come back here every now and then to replenish my stock of Delimondo, which is pretty much the best corned beef in the entire universe. I also love the random bites and nibbles that you can get here, from pastillas to polvoron, to nuts and other similar food that my mom would have chided me for buying. I can almost hear her say "Mabubusog ka ba nyan?" read more
