I only popped here briefly, but I'm glad I did! A whole stall of fresh ingredients and deliciousness sits around two huge paella pans bubbling away, making gorgeous smells to make you salivate! The stallholders were friendly and polite. I tried the chicken paella with chorizo, which was wonderful! The chorizo was juicy and flavoursome, the chicken tender, and the rice was tasty and soft. It was also surprisingly filling for what you first may think of as a small bowl. For the quality of the food, the price is very reasonable. I'd go here again if I was in the area!

Love, love, love paella - it's one of my favourite dishes - so when I heard we would get to try some at the markets, I was overjoyed! While people were still hanging around the flower demo, I was already tucking into to some tasty chicken and chorizo paella. The guy and girl serving it up were super friendly too. Couldn't do enough for me. As for the food itself, I couldn't fault it and ended up clearing the bowls of other yelpers who couldn't finish theirs, much to my delight. All I'd say is that it was a little on the small-portion side for £4. The mulled wine (not great if I'm being honest) and hot spiced apple vodka (delicious and extremely moreish) were also £4, which I think is just too expensive for market prices, especially when a mulled wine at Manchester Christmas Markets is £3.50. I'd eat the paella and drink the hot apple vodka any day of the week though. Divine.

Tasty paella!! The chicken and chorizo one is just amazing and such a friendly guy serving! Portions are a good size as it will really fill you up! Drinks: I didn't hear good things about the mulled wine-too cold and not alcoholic enough were some I heard, though I didn't try it myself! BUT what was tasty was the warm apple vodka and cinnamon! so delicious and great winter warmer! Service was a little slow on the bar side and we weren't really 'kept in the loop' about whether we were being served or if they'd run out/warm drinks weren't warm enough etx! We were happy to wait but just would be have fab if we were 'oh it'll just be 5 mins thank you for waiting' or something like that!! It may have been that they were very busy as we had a yelp event round their stall amongst others!

I'm quite fond of paella so I was looking forward to this one! I realised I was expecting seafood, so I was a little disappointed it was chicken and chorizo paella. I cheered up a bit watching it being cooked in one of those gigantic paella pans right in front of me. Unfortunately, we got the last batch from the pan and there wasn't a great deal of chicken left. I found it to be a little lacking in taste - however I do like food which bites back so I'm a tough customer.

The smells that wafted across the market made November all warm for a change. The paella was perfectly thick and not just like a large pan of savoury rice. The chorizo on top was grilled perfectly and added a great scent. The beer bar was also good, the winter Bok was a favourite with the coffee caramel flavours but the £6.50 price tag was more to swallow. The displays around the bar area of the craft ales didn't really look like they were for drinking and it was difficult to tell the difference between a kitchen side board and a novelty craft ale section in a supermarket. I think the setting of the Belgian bar would do well if it carried out to the stall because at the moment unless you saw the sign you wouldn't put the two together. Good welcoming service brings people to the huge pan of paella.

i'm not Spanish, but I have visited a few times as my parents live there. so I think that means when I say this I good paella you can believe me! furthermore, the gent running the stall is a delight! But MOST importantly, those ingredients are fresh fresh fresh. Get yourself down to Altrincham market for a delicious serving of spain.

I stood for a while watching them create such amazing Malaysian dishes from fresh ingredients - and when I got my chance to try some I was blown away. The fish dish I had was so tasty and incredibly well cooked considering it's being served from a street stall! It was very spicy but they managed to get the balance of spices just right. I would order this again! I sampled the squid and also the fishcake - and WOW the fishcake was divine. I didn't try the ribs that were brought around, but I did watch other Yelpers tuck into them and they seemed happy so thumbs up for the ribs too! The bubble tea was certainly an experience too! A weird but tasty refreshing juice drink that had small bubbles of juice floating around at the bottom. Occasionally one would fly up your straw and, if you avoid choking on it like I did, they pop and release a different flavour of juice. Very odd - but very good. If I'm in Alty Market again soon I'll be paying them another visit!

To be held weekly, every Saturday from noon until 10pm, the space at Alphabet Brewery has the advantage of being completely covered over - so as the wintry days approach, both traders and punters will be kept dry! North Western Street is in the grittier part of the city, shall we say, running alongside the impressive railway arches leading to Piccadilly station. The front area outside the brewery is where you'll find the street food traders every week (there'll be 5-6 with some firm favourites on regular rotation along with guest traders appearing too). Inside the brewery itself (which is double height and spacious) you have the newly-built cash-only bar, serving Alphabet's beery wares - and soon to have guest breweries and tap takeovers. Unisex toilets and sinks are upstairs (there's a disabled toilet next to the bar). The vibrant murals on the walls are by local artist Hammo (who's also designed all of their beer cans) - check out his website: http://www.thehammo.com/ Two long rows of bench seating along with smaller tables means there's plenty of room to sit down if you get down here early enough! By mid afternoon it was truly bustling. Less than a 10 minute walk from the station, this is a must visit for locals and visitors alike.

Yes - at first you might come out of the back of Piccadilly station and wonder quite where you're headed (this area was/is the red light area of Manchester but with HS2 coming soon and this area marked for redev it is probably gonna be a trendy part of town in a decade from now) As with all the GRUB events there was great food, drink and music. Plus the atmosphere always kicks ass. On this occasion the gyoza stall and MacDaddies (mac n' cheese) went down well with our table. The Alphabet session pale at 4% and £4 a pint went down just as good. Looking like a regular place we'll be heading to now it's on each Saturday and only 5 mins walk from the station.

The Caribbean Café may not look much from the outside, but much like many of the places in the market, the effort goes elsewhere, and I'm not arguing with what this guy has chosen to focus on: fresh-cooked food, conversation, and atmosphere (which, despite the rather modest premises, is far from lacking. You can feel the buzz as you walk into this place. The owner is chatting away to the people at the tables, keen to know about them, inform them, and just generally make them feel at home, so they can linger over their food. Nevertheless, he somehow manages to juggle this with quick service, and within minutes, I'm sitting with a perfectly presented plate of goat curry, my choice of salsa and salad, and my rice option (charmingly sand-castled into an upended cone!), while he freshly fries my side order of plantain (only 50p!), and serves a couple of people popping in for takeaway with other food I wish I had room for. At one point, I find myself alone, and rather than feeling awkward or imposed on, I enjoy chatting away to the owner about our jobs, backgrounds, upcoming events he'll be involved in, and of course the food (it's hard to say which of us loves it more)! He is happy to give me a free taster of his jerk chicken, and to recommend a place I can buy my own plantains. By the end of my meal, I don't want to leave. I want more. More of the tender meat and flavoursome (but not too spicy) sauce, more steaming hot plantains, and more friendly chatter. And the good news is, he caters for the reggae evenings at Outlaws Yacht Club, and he'll soon be doing breakfasts... so there is more to come, and as I leave, I find myself promising to be back with friends, because this is the kind of place and the kind of person that I would be proud to introduce my friends to!
