I stood for a while watching them create such amazing Malaysian dishes from fresh ingredients - and when I got my chance to try some I was blown away. The fish dish I had was so tasty and incredibly well cooked considering it's being served from a street stall! It was very spicy but they managed to get the balance of spices just right. I would order this again! I sampled the squid and also the fishcake - and WOW the fishcake was divine. I didn't try the ribs that were brought around, but I did watch other Yelpers tuck into them and they seemed happy so thumbs up for the ribs too! The bubble tea was certainly an experience too! A weird but tasty refreshing juice drink that had small bubbles of juice floating around at the bottom. Occasionally one would fly up your straw and, if you avoid choking on it like I did, they pop and release a different flavour of juice. Very odd - but very good. If I'm in Alty Market again soon I'll be paying them another visit!

The balance of their spices especially in their fish dishes is perfect , and their hospitality is even better.. I now know that they come to the Altrincham market 4 days a week, so I will be coming back for some of their grub..

I haven't had Paella since I was in Spain earlier this year too, so I was eager to try it here! Crowding around the Paella pan, the gentleman serving us was lovely, happily chatting away to us Yelpers and other members of the public - so friendly! And he must have known I was a Chorizo fan as he loaded up my bowl with lots of the spicy sausage without delay. The Paella was great - seasoned sticky rice with fresh ingredients and you really got the flavour of the chicken and the chorizo. The portion size was great for a small taste, although I would have happily eaten more!

Served with some friendly chat, the paella comes from the large steaming pan, and can be served with chorizo. And who doesn't want chorizo as part of their meal? It really was a delicious portion, really stick rice, which I love, and packed with flavour from the chicken, vegetables and chorizo, which was lovely and crispy from the grill. They have other options on offer, including a particularly impressive looking chorizo roll, and the adjoining Belgian bar is a great little spot to pick up a range of interesting sounding beer, either to enjoy at the market or take home. The mulled wine was lovely and warming, if a bit too sweet to have more than a small serving. Thanks for opening my eyes to a new meal!

To be held weekly, every Saturday from noon until 10pm, the space at Alphabet Brewery has the advantage of being completely covered over - so as the wintry days approach, both traders and punters will be kept dry! North Western Street is in the grittier part of the city, shall we say, running alongside the impressive railway arches leading to Piccadilly station. The front area outside the brewery is where you'll find the street food traders every week (there'll be 5-6 with some firm favourites on regular rotation along with guest traders appearing too). Inside the brewery itself (which is double height and spacious) you have the newly-built cash-only bar, serving Alphabet's beery wares - and soon to have guest breweries and tap takeovers. Unisex toilets and sinks are upstairs (there's a disabled toilet next to the bar). The vibrant murals on the walls are by local artist Hammo (who's also designed all of their beer cans) - check out his website: http://www.thehammo.com/ Two long rows of bench seating along with smaller tables means there's plenty of room to sit down if you get down here early enough! By mid afternoon it was truly bustling. Less than a 10 minute walk from the station, this is a must visit for locals and visitors alike.

Yes - at first you might come out of the back of Piccadilly station and wonder quite where you're headed (this area was/is the red light area of Manchester but with HS2 coming soon and this area marked for redev it is probably gonna be a trendy part of town in a decade from now) As with all the GRUB events there was great food, drink and music. Plus the atmosphere always kicks ass. On this occasion the gyoza stall and MacDaddies (mac n' cheese) went down well with our table. The Alphabet session pale at 4% and £4 a pint went down just as good. Looking like a regular place we'll be heading to now it's on each Saturday and only 5 mins walk from the station.

The Caribbean Café may not look much from the outside, but much like many of the places in the market, the effort goes elsewhere, and I'm not arguing with what this guy has chosen to focus on: fresh-cooked food, conversation, and atmosphere (which, despite the rather modest premises, is far from lacking. You can feel the buzz as you walk into this place. The owner is chatting away to the people at the tables, keen to know about them, inform them, and just generally make them feel at home, so they can linger over their food. Nevertheless, he somehow manages to juggle this with quick service, and within minutes, I'm sitting with a perfectly presented plate of goat curry, my choice of salsa and salad, and my rice option (charmingly sand-castled into an upended cone!), while he freshly fries my side order of plantain (only 50p!), and serves a couple of people popping in for takeaway with other food I wish I had room for. At one point, I find myself alone, and rather than feeling awkward or imposed on, I enjoy chatting away to the owner about our jobs, backgrounds, upcoming events he'll be involved in, and of course the food (it's hard to say which of us loves it more)! He is happy to give me a free taster of his jerk chicken, and to recommend a place I can buy my own plantains. By the end of my meal, I don't want to leave. I want more. More of the tender meat and flavoursome (but not too spicy) sauce, more steaming hot plantains, and more friendly chatter. And the good news is, he caters for the reggae evenings at Outlaws Yacht Club, and he'll soon be doing breakfasts... so there is more to come, and as I leave, I find myself promising to be back with friends, because this is the kind of place and the kind of person that I would be proud to introduce my friends to!
