They went above and beyond my expectations and created a beautiful expanded living space. Today, 12 months later after the project was finally completed, Porch Outfitters is removing the awning because they did not get approval from our HOA- a process they said they would take care of. They did not submit the proper paperwork and if they had, we would have known from the start that an awning was not permitted. They have reimbursed us for the awning, but we have no itemized bill for the purchase price of the awning or the labor we paid for it to be installed. WE WARN YOU NOT TO USE PORCH OUTFITTERS. The year long process was horrible, the office unprofessional, and was in no way worth the final outcome. Our entire house was built quicker than this sunroom conversion. One quality/safety issue to note: when they were moving the sliding class door to the exterior wall, we were unable to lock it. After speaking to both the head of the crew and the office manager, it was finally fixed after 6 weeks. The owner asked us to write in our review that the quality of the work was good which it was with the exception of the door lock, but the lack of professionalism of the office was worse than you could imagine. Do not take a chance on them. Please understand how disappointed we are. From the salesman saying it would take 6 months "start to finish," and then later saying "we have made one idiot mistake after another." The "Production" Department is run by a very young man who is easily frustrated and incompetent. Workers in management come and go, and there is fine print in the contract, "no verbal agreements will be honored." Buyer beware with this company. Heed this warning and those given by others.

Their bid came in about the same as my middle-of-the-road general contractor. The big difference - Hilton Head Decks and Tiki Huts will pull permits every step on the way - all done to code; they used a backhoe to dig out the dirt and prep the ground; marine grade wood for framing; meticulous construction, no cutting corners, finest materials (nothing from Home Depot for example). I had a change order and delayed the project, no problem. I think the new deck will outlast my house! Johan is the friendly owner, and he gets his hands dirty, crew is hard-working and polite. If you reach out and he doesn't call back right away - TRY AGAIN as he is often on site and they are busy, but so worth it.
