As a child development specialist, my heart grows every time I observe teachers interacting with students. They are "gardeners, not carpenters". Love, empathy, curiosity, and firm boundaries all shine here. They are as engaged with social emotional teaching as they are "academic" skills. The world would be a better place if every child experienced this kind of early education.

They are an incredibly unorganized (unlicensed) childcare option and offered little to no training on child safety protocol for their staff, at summer camp the head teacher barely gave any instruction to kids and families on safety expectations and rules. Children were constantly getting hurt and the head teacher did little to provide appropriate consequences when my coworkers and I would bring incidents to her attention. I was one of the only teachers that would actually accompany kids to the bathroom, the head teacher would send 4 year olds to the bathroom out of sight by themselves every day and was shocked when I would go to accompany them with another camper to maintain ratio. She provided so little structure during the day that kids were completely under stimulated and their behavior problems that had been enabled throughout the school year were exacerbated in the summer. I felt like there was so little I could do to support my campers in a way that would be supported by the Firs. I have worked in childcare for many years and this is the worst place I've ever worked. Do not work here, do not send your kids here, their negligence is going to land them in a lawsuit some day. The homophobia too.....

They run a day care but there is a learning curriculum also so your kids dont just play with blocks all day. You dont have to go everyday as long as you schedule in advance, like every M W F or something. They really are teachers not babysitters, they teach manners, social skills and some school stuff like letters and they read in a group to the kids. Great place to take your kids.

NO WHERE on their website informs ANYONE about calling for returning students to continue with the class. I was not notified about having to call in and neither front desk nor the owner gave me my money back. I have been waitlisted and still have not been called to this day. The only way I'd be back is to receive a refund and use it for the North Coast Academy business across the street.

An employee later said she lied to me and decided to extend her vacation an extra day. You cannot trust the owner. I have also heard from the employee that the owner is money hungry and will lie to anyone who threatens her business. I was aslo told from the employee that the owner consistantly soad bad things about many of the families who went there. Do not trust this daycare with your children. She is in it for the money. A god fearing woman does not take a vacation to sin city and lie to patron's about a death in the family. As i saod beforee, we were also told stories about the owner saying nasty stuff about several customers that pay money to this business. I have way more to say about this shady place but I am so over it I do not want to waste my time. She is also closed more than the schools so you will always be scurrying for baby sitting. Do not trust this place with your family.

I called and a very professional woman answered and set me up for an appointment between 9 and 11 on Monday morning (5/11/20). Monday morning, at 10:45, Mike called to say their previous job ran long and wondered if 11:15 would be okay. I said, "Of course!" They arrived at 11:10. They were wearing masks and gloves. I have a full-size stacked washer and dryer; heavy, to say the least. They checked out my dryer thoroughly and determined it was fine, but they were concerned that my old circuit breaker may be having issues and recommended I wait to use it until I have an electrician out. I was SO grateful to find out my dryer is fine (because I'm actually in the midst of seling my condo). Their price was very reasonable for as long as they were here. I had expressed my concern about a possible fire and they were so thorough. I would definitely use this company again and highly recommend!

The technician was professional, clearly experienced, and identified a legitimate issue with my refrigerator that I was not previously aware of. That said, I will not be moving forward with additional services because of my experience with pricing transparency. I originally scheduled service for a dishwasher diagnostic. Over the phone, I was quoted approximately $150-$165 for the dishwasher diagnostic, not including any additional parts or labor if repairs were needed. While the dishwasher diagnostic cycle was running, the technician began discussing Samsung appliances with me and mentioned that my refrigerator model may have a common issue. He asked if I minded him taking a quick look at it while he was waiting on the dishwasher cycle. My understanding from the conversation was that this was a quick courtesy look while time was already passing during the dishwasher diagnostic. I agreed. He briefly inspected the refrigerator, pointed out ice buildup, checked the temperature, and explained the likely issue and what the repair would cost. I appreciated the information, and I do believe he correctly identified a problem that may need attention. The issue came at the end of the visit when my final bill was just over $250. When I asked about the difference from the original dishwasher diagnostic quote, I was told the additional amount was because he looked at the refrigerator. My concern is not that the refrigerator inspection had value. It did. My concern is that I was not clearly told beforehand that looking at the refrigerator would be an additional diagnostic charge. Had I been told, "I can take a look at the refrigerator too, but it will be an additional charge," I likely would have approved it. The problem is that the way it was presented -- as something being done quickly while waiting on the dishwasher cycle -- made it feel like a courtesy or part of the same visit. Overall, I think this company knows appliances and appears capable. However, based on my experience, I would recommend confirming all charges in writing before agreeing to have them look at anything beyond the original appliance you scheduled service for. Clearer upfront communication about additional diagnostic fees would have made this a much better experience. For anyone wondering why I chose two stars: Yelp labels two stars as "could've been better," and that accurately reflects my opinion of this experience. The technician seemed knowledgeable, and I do think the company is capable, but the pricing communication could have been much clearer. That is ultimately why I feel two stars is warranted.

I can tell that at the end of the day, she is happy and well taken care of. All the staff know my daughters name and make a effort to say hi to her each time they see her (She is friendly with all staff and enjoys their company). My daughter is now is the preschool program with them and has learned SO much in the last few months that she made the transition. It has been just a joy watching her learn and explore new things. If there are any issues they have always been address right away and I've always felt heard, which I think its very important in a child care center.

First, they were super accommodating when we needed part-time during the day. My oldest went to another pre-school in the morning and then Child's life in the afternoon. He came at nap time but they were great greeting him and then, giving him a space to transition. It was really great to have this smooth transition because we did it on a lunch break. My youngest is my shy one and had always had a hard time leaving me but when we arrived each morning, they always said his name and gave him a variety of choices. I honestly felt like they cared! The staff was great! If asked, they shared my boy's day and I always received art work to take home, which is fun to see when you are away from your babies all day! Also, I am a teacher myself so I think I automatically wanted to connect with the staff and they appreciated it. Elaine, the director, was always thinking of ways to improve the preschool and reaching out for resources. This was amazing because it showed she truly cared about the kids. I guess I am writing this review because A Child's Life has a special place in our family's heart. My boys are still in contact with friends they made and when we see a past teacher out and about, they come talk to us. Thank you A Child's life!

I also witnessed a lady advocate that the children scream as loud as they can, which is not helpful for parents who properly teach their developing children how to behave in society.

Hi there folks. I am here to give a review of my experience with a local daycare. My daughter has…read moresensory perception disorder. Which means that my daughter can be easily overwhelmed with outside stimulus and can require extra care and patience to work through things. We have made every attempt to communicate this with the AHA Daycare staff and the majority of them have been absolutely accommodating. However, the director who has been involved in childcare since day one has not been following the recommended program by a behavior specialist regarding my daughter's issues. This woman has been simply putting my daughter in a room to have her "temper tantrums" because she didn't like a three year old screaming. She has stated that my daughter "has no empathy" in regards to her outbursts. Furthermore, she has been informed that this is not an appropriate way to deal with my child but she continued to deal with her outbursts in this manner. The other day when I went to pick my daughter up I saw how this director Toni Petch handled my daughter on a daily basis. I walked up to the gate to the outside play area and could hear my daughter screaming and making a bunch of noise. She was obviously having a problem with something. Toni came towards my daughter and yelled at her to "stop it". My daughter became even more upset and began screaming even more. Toni then picked up my daughter and held her with my daughter hanging over Toni's arm screaming. I watched her walk away and my daughter hanging from Toni's arm facing me and began screaming for her father when she saw me. I opened the gate and watched Toni sit down with my daughter at the picnic table in their playground and restrain her by placing her arms around my daughter in a hug not letting her move. I then walked up to Toni and told her that "you know, it doesn't help her when you react like that to her outbursts". What followed next was absolutely unexpected. This woman began yelling at me about how my daughter was absolutely unmanageable and how this daycare had done everything they could to accommodate my daughter. I had kept a calm demeanor this entire time even after seeing how this person had basically manhandled my daughter during one of her outbursts. I encourage any of you looking to this place for childcare with a kid that requires extra care or following a behavior plan to consider somewhere else. I've already reported this daycare to the state and I will be leaving this review on every single avenue that I can. Not only did this person handle my daughter in an inappropriate way, this daycare neglected to tell myself or my wife about issues that involved my daughter. We never got a report at the end of the day about how my daughter had behaved until we heard about how my daughter had bit someone's kid. Apparently my daughter had been doing that for a while and they didn't even tell us about the first time! I am beyond appalled with this daycare and I regret ever bringing her there. The way that the director handled me telling her to not manhandle my child was ridiculous, and the fact that I had to stand there and get yelled at for calling her out on it was even more ridiculous. This daycare has been reported to the state and I have made an effort to make sure that the state knows that this Toni has been an absolutely terrible caregiver. Especially because she has done the exact opposite of what she has been told needed to happen to help my daughter process things. I would never recommend this place

They tell us to stop talking so much and hurry up, we say sorry and let him use the machine to avoid any trouble. They walks away and another person goes up to them and says I glad you said something they are taking too long. On another occasion, someone was rushing us off machines by standing and watching us workout. It was very awkward and I will not be going back!

They also feed healthy meals that are organic and my son always enjoys the food. They do fun activities like having fire trucks visit the school, go on field trips and play outside every day! Overall, a great school to send your child! Based on my son's attitude, he is cared for and loved there every day and he is always so excited to be going there!

During Covid times they have also made efforts to keep the children safe including distancing in class, mask wearing, and taking temperatures before class.

He has progressed through the beginners and intermediate classes and now fencing in the advanced, has developed sufficient skill to finish in the top three in several tournaments and has found a love for this new sport that is solely the result of the leadership and coaches of Bellingham Bay Fencing association. He is now passionate about attending classes, tournaments and further developing his skill. Bellingham Bay fencing focuses on Epee, but has a healthy group of foil fencers as well and several who also fence sabre. This is a warm group that we have grown to consider family. Come on in and give it a try, old and young are sure to find a new interest and meet new friends.
