My 2nd time at Bella Cosa. It's a winner! The cuisine is southern Italian, the hospitality is fantastic! I like this venue so much because it is stylist yet cosy, like going to the home of an Italian family. Booking is easy and you get a warm welcome on arrival. There are 2 levels, a full bar on both. On the upper level is a lovely mezzanine where you can view the river while sipping on drinks & having bar snacks. The main restaurant is lovely, not overly posh and tables spaced nicely. Loos are in good order too. We had some great selections on this outing, I was in the mood for broad beans and theirs didn't disappoint. The gnocchi was little pillows of perfection. Seafood cooked beautifully. Bella Cosa is open for lunch through to dinner & offers lunch specials too. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself to some of the best Italian food outside of Italy. Full marks! Grazie mille Bella Cosa.

I got the privilege of attending a tasting dinner for the new set menu for Bella Cosa in their fine dining floor which looks out into the river and overlooks Canary Wharf. The venue is a little bit tucked away near South Quay, but very worth it once you find it. It has plush red leather seats and marble flooring, with a vast wine selection at the corner of the room. The menu consists of an amuse bouche, starter, pasta, main and dessert with petit fours afterwards. The service was excellent and the food/wine pairings were fabulous. For each course, they do have a wine pairing recommendation which you should definitely heed if you're big on wine. The menu is not that different to what you'd expect from a Michelin star restaurant, with taste, texture and presentation all on point. Note that the pictures I added of the food are half the size (due to it being a tasting), so the regular meal should be sufficient for dinner should you come to dine. The food is Italian inspired, but I must admit I've never actually experienced Italian fine dining before, and this was superb. The mixtures of all the different flavors in each dish is quite special and very worth trying. It's such a difference from your everyday menu as you can see each course is curated to the detail. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who fancies a bit of a change from the hustle and bustle of Soho, Mayfair or Knightsbridge for fine dining. The bonus is that you have a view of the river whilst enjoying food that's of a very high standard. It's refreshing to have a more relaxed luxury environment whilst enjoying high quality food and excellent service for dinner

Fine Dining how it should be! Hard to find, though is the hidden gem in Surrey Quays. Entrée was a Pan Seared Scallop, Chick Pea, Cinta Sense Lardo, Sea Herbs - best scallops I think I've ever had! And the presentation was fanatics. It's amazing how Bella Cosa was able to fuse into some brilliant insightful ingredients to create an extraordinary dish! I was sold on this dish alone, though this was only the first. Candy was up next - well at least that's how the pasta was shaped! On the menu they call it "Smoked Ricotta 'Caramelle' Candy Shape Pasta, Lamb Ragout, Broad Beans, Pecorino Romano, Mint". And this is exactly how my taste buds reacted - a kid running around excitedly in a candy store. Not only was this dish visually appealing, the soft ricotta combined with the snappy texture of the broad beans umbrellaed with the tangy mint is pure genius insightfulness of the chief! Red Mullet in Kataifi, Broccoli Puree Turnip, Lemon was the main dish. This seemed to be a rather experimental dish. Yes, I can see the logic, yes, I appreciate an innovative approach in food creation, though I was anticipating a little bit more when I ordered it. I adore broccoli, actually I'll eat them raw, cooked, pureed or steamed, though somehow, not even the lemon brought them to life in this dish. So, as the Estonians would say about Lemons: "Sid, run from this dish". A sugar explosion was created by the desserts - White Chocolate, Strawberry, Green Tea (if you haven't already checked out the photos this is the time to) - and this is exactly what desserts should do! What a fabulous combination - White Chocolate because who doesn't love chocolate? And a good source of sugar (59% to be exact, more than a Mars Bar!), strawberries to provide a freshness swing and then, obviously, the passive caffeine kick, though just enough to get you home - though not a minute more. The presentation, as all the dishes, was a piece of art. I would recommend Bella Cosa for numerous occasions: dates, business meetings and even a good group of friends that want to have a fabulous experience.

Tucked away in Surrey Quays is Bella Cosa, perhaps a little hard to find from the main road, but should you find it (and you should), you'll walk into what is a beautifully decked out restaurant with great views of Canary Wharf. Downstairs is a fairly casual affair but upstairs is where a really great experience can be had. The owners have spared no expense in the décor, the food and the wine. The dining area (although downstairs is both a dining area and a bar) has a main floor as well as two areas that can be converted to private dining, one of which contains their wine room, stocked with an extensive range of Italian wines, being Italian fine dining. You'll be able to find your favourite champagne, and they will have some International wines, but expect to be drinking something Italian. My menu that night consisted of a somewhat traditional order of an antipasto, a primo, a secondo and a dolce. Each served with its own accompanying wine. An amuse bouche from the chef started the meal and was already a sign that we were in for a treat. My antipasto of a green veloute had a powerful flavour (okay the photo wasn't great after the parmesan had been shaved over it) but you could honestly taste every ingredient that had been used, nothing was overpowering and there were enough variations of texture that kept the dish interesting, something that can be lacking in a veloute. I wanted to clean my plate. The primo of pasta was a sight to see. Plain and green pasta melded together and shaped into bonbons with a smoked ricotta filling. The time it must have taken to create them... The lamb ragout served with it obviously had a lot of care put into it and while I don't normally care for mint (I know they go well together for most people, I just don't like it) it worked just right as a counterpoint. A twice cooked pork belly appeared as my secondo, along with vegetables and a single dumpling filled with sausage meat. Delicious and melt in your mouth (was it fatty? Yes, it's pork belly, deal with it), and again lead to a clean plate. Finally, the dessert, and I was intrigued enough by the offering of "Fennel, coffee, whiskey" that I chose that instead of "white chocolate, strawberry, green tea" (which is a flavour combination I think is a lot more common). What was delivered was a martini glass with coffee dirt, whiskey jelly and fennel ice cream, with a fried spring of fennel on top. What is fennel ice cream like? Well, I've had it once, and I can say that every time I've had it, it was delicious. Your experiences tasting fennel ice cream in locations not Bella Cosa may vary, but this was top notch. Combining the cold ice cream with the crunchy coffee and the slightly gummy whiskey was a great experience, I hope they still have it when I next visit. Throughout the meal, the staff were attentive and kept glasses refilled. We never had to ask what something was, a description was always on hand. It wasn't a stiff service either, but some gentle banter was had. Sometimes it's welcome and I feel that if I had wanted them to stop, they would have done so without prompting. I went to the restaurant thinking this would be a good meal that I could catch up over friends with. I finished wondering when we could come again as catching up had fallen by the wayside in the face of what had been served to us.

The Service was slow and not friendly. The food was fine. The wine had been open for a while before it was poured and had gone sour.

I've always liked the look of the restaurant whenever I've ambled past, but I ventured there for the first time last night with a bunch of Hither Green-based mates (we have decided to start exploring local eateries once a month). Well, the restaurant was packed, the service was cheery and cheeky and the food was blimmin' delicious. The menus are immense leather-bound pages of proud splendour, with one of our group comparing them to Michael Aspel's 'This Is Your Life' books. Fish is what they do best, and my do they do it well. I had fisherman's soup to start - a broth packed with so much flavour along with juicy prawns, succulent squid and perfectly-prepared mussels. For my main I chose the rather exquisitely-named Neptune Symphony fish platter. Oh my - the tastiest plate of seafood I have ever had the pleasure of eating, along with a creamy Dry Martini & Orange sauce. There was salmon, there was monkfish, and more prawns (soooo sweet) and mussels. TASTY. I didn't have dessert (I went for Cointreau...yeah, it was a bit like that) but the spoonfuls of others' I managed to nab were divine. OK, this restaurant isn't cheap, and along with the copious amounts of 'Green Wine' (a Portuguese favourite) we mananged to quaff, it came to just over £40 a head. I have begrudgingly withheld the extra star for this, plus the fact that our mains arrived about an hour after our starters. But, you know what, we spent a rollicking good few hours in there, it was packed, we were well looked after and I'd go back in an instant. And, if the cost is an issue, they do set menus as well.

I had…read moreread about this restaurant in some top 10 lists for foodies visiting London and was dying to check it out. First, it's not in the busy part of London where you would expect a restaurant of this caliber to be but rather it is in a very blue-collar neighborhood on the south side of London. It is a VERY cozy place with only seven tables but that is how they keep the quality and experience so great. The decor is as if you are on an old fishing ship. Reservations are highly recommended but we got there right when they opened (7pm) and thankfully they let us have a table. After being seated the hostess showed us the days specials and they ranged from fantastic scallops to lobster with every choice as good as the last. My wife and I chose the Chef's Choice 8 course dinner. The dinner comprised of a delicious sardine sandwich followed by a fillet of night perch which was then followed by lobster that melted in your mouth. Then we had a pallet cleanser of a light peach sorbet with a shot of vodka poured over it. The meal resumed with a grilled piece of pork belly (I got the "meat" choice) while my wife had a grilled hallibut (she got the "fish" choice). The next course was a warmed cheese (I believe it was gruyere) in pastry accompanied by a small mixed green salad with aged balsamic. The dessert courses were a delicious crepe with creme bruille filling and the end course was a pear puree along with a chocolate pudding with a hint of mint. We loved this place even though the name sort of threw us off at first. When you hear "The Lobster Pot" I imagine a bunch of seniors getting off a day-tour bus to a casino at a truck stop or something but this experience was far from what I first imagined. I would highly recommend spending some of your tourist dollars here at this restaurant.

A delightfully decorative place complete with seagulls singing sea shanty classics on loop. Terrified but glorious goldfish adorning the cabin window walls, really every maritime detail had been thought of, even staff in cabin costumes, it was as cheesy as the lobster Thermidor. So fun. I loved being bibbed up too, I like knowing things are gonna get messy. The Meli, a melee of seafood; half lobster, sea bass, spicy grilled perch, razor clam (touch over done), squid kebab (could've been flavoured more) but all in a sea of buttery champagne and avruga sauce. No tide could hold me back from wanting to lick my plate or use this as a moisturiser, oh my golly so delicious. It came served with enough perfectly cooked veg that my mother would approve of too. Soft butter, less surprise from the proprietor at our arrival and this place would have had a perfect score. Overall our waitress was lovely and the food was really darn good.

The sauce on the side also added some nice sweet flavor to complement the fish. While the food was good, I do feel that 48 GBP is slightly on the high side considering the small portion sizes. The interior of the restaurant has some elegant and classy decor. That's probably why so many people come for business lunches here (plus the location).
