Wow! Coming from Los Angeles--the land of hot yoga--I wasn't expecting to be this impressed. Nothing compares to practicing under the infrared ceiling panels. I stood beneath two of them the entire class, and they melted away so much tension in my body. Infrared heat penetrates deeper into your tissues than traditional heated air, so your body warms from the inside out, making the practice feel incredibly therapeutic without the room needing to be excessively hot. Bella Kai's Hot Yoga 60 class is becoming a Sunday tradition for me. I'm pretty new to bikram yoga but the community and classes are so inclusive that any true beginner can jump into a class. This studio is located in the Aikahi Park Shopping Center on the second floor above the Navy Federal Credit. There's tons of free parking- making it super stress free getting there. They even have a cute little courtyard - adding to the very relaxing vibe. They have on studio and the room is usually 100F+ but here's a pro tip: the spots towards the window aren't as hot as towards the wall on the opposite side. My fave spot is on the back left towards the window and door. Everyone, especially the teachers, but really everyone is so welcoming. I never felt judged at all. Amazing Hot Yoga studio! I love the infrared heaters and the New intermediate class!! I also attend the Hot 90 and love it!! The teachers are gentle but firm, which (for me) really opens up a space to improve from where I am right now. I have attended other studios that feel more competitive, which tend to make me feel out of place or like I am is not good enough to train there and creates a space where it is difficult for me to grow. Bella Kai is quite the opposite. Love this place! I had never been to hot yoga before, but decided to try it out. I got there and meet kalia, one of the instructors right away. She quickly eased my nerves. The student population in the classes is very diverse. But they all have one thing in common..... They are very welcoming. I never felt intimidated or embarrassed by awkward attempts at the positions or my lack of yoga fashion. I even hosted an adult birthday party there. Where I invited a few of my closest friends to try out the practice. I was able to rent the whole studio for a time that worked best for me. Even when I had to cancel once cause of COVID-19 I was meet with understanding and compassion as well as assistance on the reschedule. I've been at it for just a few months, but loving every session. The classroom is clean. There is plenty of free parking and bathrooms close by. The only thing that holds me back from giving 5++ stars is limited class schedule, which is something I know they are actively working on. I hope to see you all there. read more

Did both a Yin and a Hot yoga class. The yin was extremely relaxing and just what we needed. I was new to the hot yoga and they were very welcoming even though I was nervous. Excellent instruction so I was never confused on what move to do next but it was a bit intense for me- next time I'll do the 60 min class instead of the 90. read more

Great studio with a welcoming community. They do a program on Wednesdays at 1900 that triggered this review, "Warriors At Ease." It's an accessible/adaptive yoga class aimed at military and vets with war / occupational trauma. It's my understanding that all active duty and retirees as well as vets with disability are welcome free of charge (just bring your towel and mat). As a military physician I see the instructors (multiple in attendance at the program) as heroes in the community. While I don't think I will return regularly (studio is too warm, this class is too slow paced and meditative for me, and my peaceful place is on the water), I plan to recommend this class ahead of pain medications, passive therapies (massage, stomach, chiropractic care), durable medical equipment. I have done (bikram) hot yoga all over CA and of course my fav is my home studio Bikram Nobhill Yoga (aka Funkydoor). When i have traveled to other studios I have to say that there is a stuffiness from the instructors/ other practitioners that I haven't felt welcome. It sucks. Not here at Bella Kai. I think I met the owner Hillary and the instructor of my class Macaiah (and Macaiah's sister who was in the class) were so incredibly sweet and welcoming. It's always uncomfortable when going into a new situation - lol, like room full of strangers in your manties- so to have them be so gracious was refreshing. I'll be back. I don't know how this place doesn't have more reviews. It is UNBELIEVABLE. I NEVER write reviews, so when I do, it's kind of a big deal. ;) I started just as this place was going under new management. Ofri is AMAZING! I am a yoga newbie, and she was so welcoming - all of the instructors are. It is not intimidating at all, and they always remind us that there is no judgment and you do the best that you can for the day. They always give tips and "secrets" in every class to get you into the proper posture or mindset to achieve each pose. I can't rave enough about this place (but i hate long Yelp reviews, so I'll cut to the chase): - Clean studio - Welcoming environment & instructors - who are so knowledgeable - Great deals for newbies - If you are going to drop in for a single class, spend the extra $10 to get a full week of unlimited visits. - Free, ample parking - EVERY class is fit for every level of yoga experience (I was even in class with someone's young daughter, and the instructor was so attentive to her and her postures) - Amazing ice cold lavender towel at the end of each class - almost as good as a donut for your hard work! - Feel refreshed/detoxed after each class! The current owner taught my first Bikram class and it was amazing. I have been going on and off for the past 3 or 4 months now. Currently most of the classes are taught by the owner and she is very good at explaining how each posture should be done. This is probably one of the hardest things I have ever done and I keep going back. I have noticed the positive changes in my life and a lot of it is the direct result of these classes. While I really liked the way things were run last year, the new owner stepped things up and is making positive changes like adding more classes. I will be going here as much as possible. read more

I loved my first class of Bikram yoga in Hawaii. I haven't done in within the past two years. Definitely worth it. if you haven't, take your first class here during the earliest session; it's beautiful to see the sunrise towards the mountains. Sean made me feel at home as well as the lady who helped on the phone. Going back today! will give a better star rating once I've gone to a few classes to determine my final rating! read more

I love this place! I tried the drop in class first then signed up for the unlimited 2 weeks. I'm definitely going to continue coming here. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Hilary, the owner, and all the instructors at Bella Kai are great and the room is plenty hot. It is a wonderful location, I love to stop at the market if I need to after class. Update: this review was for when it was formally "Bikram Kailua". Not sure if they changes owners or just changed their name, but the review is for when I went when it was originally posted. --------------------------------------------------------- I've been here once. I wanted to try a different type of Yoga, so I got a groupon for it. Turns out this type of Yoga wasn't for me. If you like Hot Yoga, then Bikram is basically the same. I knew the rooms were heated, but didn't think I'd be literally sweating everywhere and come out feeling dehydrated. Maybe that's goals for others to achieve for their weight goals, but I was just here to get toned. The room is very large with large windows on one side of the wall and another wall with ceiling to floor mirrors. They should consider implementing barre classes as this would be a great studio for that! I went in the evening and there were only about five other girls there. I was told on Saturdays it gets crazy packed, so it probably feels even hotter, which makes me question how too much heat can be good for ones' health. The switch to different movements felt a little too fast. I'm not sure if all Bikram/Hot Yoga sessions are like this, but when I went, there was a male instructor that was the complete opposite of the typical "calm, zen-like" voiced instructors I've had in the past elsewhere. He was definitely a motivating type of person when pep talking everyone to hold their position for longer, but just the loudness and quickness of his voice made it feel like I was at an Aerobics or Boot Camp Fitness type of class. The 90 minute session felt a little too long for me, I think if they do 60 minutes it would be perfect. There are showers for people if they need to use it after the work out. I was talking to the instructor after the session and you can really tell that they are dedicated to the sport of yoga and encouraging their visitors to lead a healthy lifestyle. The only thing I was confused about was the groupon I had for it said "must activate before expiration date" which I did, and I thought this meant since I activated it before it expired, I could carry on my sessions even after the expiration activation date, but turns out you needed to use up all your sessions before the expiration date. So bad on their part for not being correct in what they meant. It kind of felt like a waste of money after I found that out, but the lady on the phone was really nice in calling me back the same day to confirm with me what the deal was. If you live in Kailua and you like Bikram/Hot Yoga, then I guess I would reccommend this place since the only other one I know about is across from Cinnamons. I won't be back here though, just since this wasn't the type of meditative yoga I was looking for...but for others it might be what you want. read more

Ever since moving back to the Windward side a few months back, I had worried about making it over to my favorite townside studio on a regular basis, fearing my practice would get messed up. Bikram Yoga Kailua is great and I enjoy coming here. I find that I learn something new from each teacher I've taken class with, and really appreciate the technical corrections (done very much in a positive, supportive way!). read more

I love this studio. It's clean and everyone is very nice. Tara & Sean teach some seriously awesome classes. Tara has a really soothing voice and Sean always has clever things to say at the end of practice. They are both incredibly passionate about what they do and encourage you to come as often as you can. I highly recommend this place. Bikram has improved my back pain, knee pain, anxiety and it has taught me to breathe.....I have an inner peace that i never had before. read more

Not my favorite yoga studio. Inconsistent Heat, packed classes, not that friendly, and anything but relaxing ambiance. In one class I took the instructor literally sat on a stool in the back, mumbled the poses, and drank coconut water the whole time. I gave it another shot and took another class. In that one, a different instructor called out the poses like he was doing military drills. So yeah, I guess if you are going to just practice your specific Bikram poses it'd be ok. As long as you're not picky about instructors/heat. I just wouldn't do it for $20 a class. And yes, they have a shower (which is nice), but it's kind of frustrating to use. Water gets everywhere and it is literally in the same stall as where people come in and out to pee. Better luck at Hot Yoga by the Sea if you ask me. read more

I just attended my first class at Bikram Yoga - Kailua Beach and absolutely loved it! I practiced Bikram prior to relocating to Kailua. With that being said, I have never considered myself a "yogi" and I find yoga studios to be very intimidating at first. However, this was not the case at Bikram Yoga - Kailua Beach. I was greeted warmly and even given a tour of the space. The studio is beautiful, clean, and inviting. The floors are a beautiful dark hardwood -- NO gross, stinky carpet. There is a large window with a view of the mountains. The owners have really thought of everything that their students might need - down to a jar of hair ties in the ladies room just in case you forget yours. My teacher was Mark - he was great! Mark brings a great energy to the class. For me, there is always a moment in class where I want to quit - I'm too tired, I'm too hot, etc. but Mark keeps you engaged and focused without being too overbearing. I am beyond happy that I discovered Bella Kai Yoga in Kailua. I am relatively new to the island and I've tried the gym, mommy exercise groups, etc. but hadn't found "my thing" here until I found Bella Kai. If I want a GREAT workout, I go to Sculpt class. If I want to help myself alleviate stress and anxiety, and practice self-care that actually helps, I go to iRest Nidra Meditation. If I want to challenge myself, get a great work out AND do something that makes me feel good from the inside out (and I mean 'good' like better than I have felt in a long, long time), I do any of the Hot Yoga classes. I never thought I was Hot Yoga person, until I tried it. I was hooked on my first class! The owner and instructors are higher caliber here than I've experienced in my 20 yrs of group exercise / yoga classes. They are welcoming, knowledgeable and truly caring! Each participant, from beginner to advanced, is treated with respect and gratitude. This place is special!! read more

I have tried Bikram yoga at the Honolulu location, but not this one in Kailua. The Kailua Bikram yoga's website does not have any info re: memberships or cost of classes; I tried emailing using the link on the website, but no response for days! Only conclusion is they ignored my email = Poor customer service is my impression. Too bad--I live in Kailua and would have been a regular, but not responding to an email from a potential customer is bad on my list.
