Just took my first class with Breathe after moving to the area. I was a little nervous because I have not been active in a while, though I had practiced barre and yoga years ago. I took advantage of the new student special ($49 for unlimited classes x 2 weeks) and had my 1-on-1 with Abigail. She worked with me to find a time for us to sit down in the studio and discuss my goals, worries, and any questions that I might have. My primary concern when looking for a place for group exercise is finding a non-judgmental space that values community and diversity. Having moved from LA, I feared being in a competitive/image conscious space that made me feel more ashamed than motivated. Before I found Breathe, I was seriously considering paying far more for private classes for this reason. I will say that Breathe surpassed this expectation with flying colors. I made sure to arrive about 15 minutes before class so that I could chat with the instructor and get a tour of the studio. I was pleasantly surprised by all of the different body types and backgrounds of people I saw attending class. Everyone seemed to know each other and it really felt like a close community to me. I specifically attended the Breathe + Restore class which was half vinyasa flow, half restorative body + mind work/meditation. This was perfect for my beginner level. When I arrived, my equipment was set up for me with a lovely placard with my name on it which really made me feel welcome. My instructor Harmony made sure to check in with me and her warm, welcoming energy definitely put me at ease. I never felt pressured to push myself beyond my current limits whereas in LA I was frequently scolded in class for not holding a position long enough. The meditative work is what really made this class shine for me and left me feeling so grateful for the experience. I am going to try a few different classes during my 2-week trial, but I am certain that I will be moving forward with a membership when it is done. Thank you so much Breathe! read more

Breathe Yoga in Kāneʻohe is such a welcoming and supportive space. Whether you're brand new to yoga or have years of experience, the instructors truly meet you where you are without judgment or compromising the rigor of the class. It never feels cliquey. Everyone is accepted and encouraged. I also love the variety of classes, providing options that are fresh and challenging in different ways. Every class pushes me just enough, and I leave each time feeling stronger, refreshed, and genuinely better about myself. read more

I've been going here for over a little over a year and absolutely love it! I had originally started coming here because I've been dealing with sciatica pain for a couple years and my doctor had suggested to get into something like yoga to help along with some physical therapy. I now have been sciatica free for months now and I feel stronger and overall better. All the teachers here are amazing and the space here is always positive and supportive. read more

I absolutely love this studio. It's been a Godsend (and a doctor send!) for me. Physically: My doctor recommended I try more gentle exercise that incorporated mindfulness. I was so stressed out that I skipped my period three months in a row. There was no other explanation they could find besides stress. I typically lift heavy and push until I think I'm going to burst, which I know isn't great, but it's what I thought I had to do to lose weight and lean into my health. That being said, I wasn't super jazzed about trying yoga and barre, but when I saw an ad for Breathe on IG and it was near me on the windward side, I took it as a sign. The employees were so welcoming and kind, helped me set up my equipment, answered my questions, etc., and I even made a friend my first class. That was it for me and I kept going back multiple times a week. I got my period a month later and have been regular since. :) Besides losing some weight, the most important parts for me have been comfort in my own body. Comfort in even wearing a sports bra to class because I know everyone else is so chill and non judgmental and we're all just there to sweat and get that lavender infused towel at the end! ;) As an avid airplane traveler, I've also felt a difference in my flight experiences. My legs don't cramp as much, I'm able to really fold and bend in half when I take a stretch break every hour or so, and I feel generally great throughout my flight. Mentally, I'm happier with myself, feel supported, not judged when I haven't been to class in a bit (but gently reminded), and actually know what mindfulness is now. I know what it means to truly restore. And as a teacher, it's so nice to turn my brain off and let someone else lead me through something. Can't recommend this place enough. Some of the coolest women (and men!) I've met in a gym setting. If you're on the fence, just try a trial! You'll love it! read more

I've been a regular for a year or two, and I find the place to be warm and welcoming. There's a feeling that the whole organization promotes healthy functioning, not just of the body but of the whole self. Every instructor whose class I've taken has shown a level of expertise and creativity and energy that keeps me going through the sometimes challenging workouts. And I love that they keep offering a wide variety of different types of classes. It's not another cookie-cutter yoga studio. And it's right here in Kaneohe, which is so cool and unique. read more

This place went downhill fast after a key instructor left. The once warm, uplifting vibe has turned cold and unwelcoming. Classes feel mechanical, staff seem checked out, and the energy is just... off. It's honestly uncomfortable now, The staff seem indifferent, the classes lack any real care, and the whole environment feels wrong. It's shocking how quickly the energy turned negative I wouldn't recommend it to anyone anymore. read more

Absolutely love this studio: the instructors, class types/times and how they do pricing and scheduling. You can easily book classes on the app. I can always find a class time that works for me. They have everything you need (mats too!) but I like to bring my own. When you onboard, the manager Harmony really gets to know you and your goals. My goal was to relax and unwind from work and I LOVE their "breathe" classes for this. They also offer barre, ariel and sculpt classes. They have something for everyone and I love the welcoming vibe of everyone there! read more

I've attended three barre classes so far and really enjoyed it! Harmony is a great teacher who brings so much energy to the class. She really is invested in making sure your form and posture are on point. I love the restore portion of class where we're led in a mindfulness practice as well as gentle poses that allow your already exhausted body to melt into the mat or bolster you're laying on. I definitely recommend Breathe to anyone looking for a more intimate space to practice barre and yoga. read more

My long overdue review. I've been an active member since October 2019. Not only is the studio located conveniently in Kaneohe, they've provided a range of classes: 5:45am and 7:15p classes for the working mom, during COVID regular Facebook and Zoom classes, and indoor and outdoor classes. THIS STUDIO LISTENS! Since day one i've felt a sense of belonging and shortly family and I'm so proud to be a part of this community of yogis and barreistas. Christina and staff are awesome!!!! I didn't think the Yoga experience would be so fun. Having Sciatica, Yoga has gotten me to a place of more flexibility and the classes are actually fun. There are other guys here too, for the guys that think Yoga is easy, try it. If you don't push yourself you get nothing, just like a workout. I was a 3X a week paddler but over the past few years I been having issues with my knees, hips and feet. Suspicious it was all related to unbalanced muscular weakness, I considered yoga to help. Living in Kaneohe I searched for something close and found Breathe Yoga and Barre. I've been going along with paddling and finally feel balanced. I appreciate how you are encouraged to go at your own pace. I've never felt inadequate when having some challenging moments and at 57 I'm not even the youngest in the class! My balance is better, and no issues with my feet, knees or hips! No more tossing and turning at night. I feel these classes are improving the quality of my life. Christine (owner)'s Tuesday sweat, core muscle building class is Stella! Laura's zen slow Hatha yoga is one of the best I have taken. You can't get this quality teaching elsewhere but in India Reshekeshi; I feel so fortunate enough to redo all these classic traditional pranayama breathing & poses here in Hawaii. Sam & jamel's flow class sent me to yogic heaven, getting a yogic high & was silent for 4 hours after the class! One of the insight was profound for me. I keep cleaning my yoga mat daily, but still have so much dirt; I forgot to clean my feet first before I step on the mat. We are lucky to have this beautiful studio in Kaneohe. Great variety of yoga, Barre ans sculpt for all levels. I love the early morning classes for a pleasant jump start for the day, as well as later classes which boost my energy and attitude. Instructors are well rounded and welcoming. If I could give more than 5 stars I would give 20. This studio has changed my life! I was in the worst shape of my life and had been battling chronic migraines for 2 years due to menopause hitting me upside the head. My friend encouraged me to go so we signed up for the 2 week trial. We tried many of all level classes. My body started to change after a week. Muscles I didn't even know I had started to turn on. I felt soooo good after every class. Now don't get me wrong, I still have to modify in many of the classes and can do about 40% of the Barre class. The teachers are all amazing and give different options for modifications. The one on one session I had with Harmony was incredible as she offered many options to modify for different poses for my body. All the teachers are fantastic! Harmony's music and vibe is so much fun Skylar gives a wonderful beginner Aerial yoga while building core strength. Hi'ilani's restore class offered a rest infused with Hawaiian culture. Iris's classes bring balance to my body and her sound bowl healing at the end is brilliant. Harmony's classes are the bomb, whether it's Barre or Strength & Release, I know I will laugh, have fun, and she kicks my butt in a good way. My chronic lower back pain is slowly dissipating and I feel strong . I look forward to going. I love the community free classes. I took a class with Hayden and loved his style of teaching. I haven't taken a class I didn't like. I look forward to taking the more advanced classes in the future as I improve my fitness. It's only been 6 weeks but I'm hooked. I came here very randomly after seeing an advertisement for an event on Facebook. I'm hooked. I have gone literally every single day since. I have a business and recently bought a house so I have been incredibly stressed out with a lot on my plate. This place has been a godsend. At first I was intimidated walking in because I had never tried "silks" before but immediately I was welcomed by super welcoming staff. Every teacher has been so warm and amazing. ***Barre In Mind is still in its soft opening stage. They are working on the space and are receptive to questions. Barre In Mind is a new space located on Kahuhipa Street in Kaneohe. They are literally at the stoplight intersection of Kahuhipa and Alaloa Streets. There is a small lot connected to the studio that is shared with other businesses. Street parking is available, but can be hard to come by at certain times of the day. The studio has classes that you can book online https://barreinmindstudio.com/ or through their app. The website has studio policies listed, FAQs, and a contact form if you have anymore questions. Currently for soft opening, all classes are $5 each. I found out about the studio through word of mouth on Instagram (@barre_in_mind). I decided to try them out. Signing up was easy and I paid for the class via the app. I attended the Deep Restorative class with Samantha. It was on a Thursday at 7:30 pm. I got into the area 20 minutes earlier because I was unsure of parking. There was none in the lot. There were some stalls, but they were coned off. Street parking was full, so I had to go around a few times before I risked parking in a lot where the business was closed. (I do not recommend doing this!) The owner contacted me and told me that she is currently working to secure parking. The entrance is facing the parking lot. There are doors facing the street, but they are locked. As you enter, there is a smaller room/area. You leave your shoes here. It is empty, but I think this will be the check-in area. You walk through a doorway to get to the studio. It has a bar that runs along the wall with mats hanging and yoga blocks. The windows face the road. There aren't any mirrors, but I was there for restorative yoga, so I didn't really mind. There are huge rectangular cushions and blankets, as well as flameless candles. There was only four of us for this session. Our instructor, Samantha, has a very calm voice. It was easy to start to relax. As the session went on, it was hard for me to concentrate. The lights from cars across the street stopped at the light were very distracting to me. (I did hear that curtains or shades were going to be put up.) Someone doing a mic check could be heard over the relaxing music. I honestly was going nuts hearing this guy go through all the numbers. I don't know where that was coming from. Yoga is all about centering your mind, so I was trying very hard to do so with the distractions. After class, Samantha pointed out the specials that are available before the grand opening. Contact them for the special pricing! The grand opening is Sunday, 10/20. There are two free classes being offered that day. There will be vendors and a raffle. I made sure to sign up so I can see the finished product. Love, Love, Love Breathe. I have been a member for a year now and just now finally got around to writing a review. I started going during one of the most restrictive times of the pandemic when only 4 students in outdoor classes were allowed. Christina, the owner, is like the little engine that could, making sure that the yoga and barre classes continued when I especially needed the structure, the exercise and the fellowship. Kaneohe is so lucky to have a quality yoga and barre studio, just down the street from the mall. And Breathe just opened a beautiful new location in Kailua, next to Cinnamons so there are two places to work out now. It's great as I can go to either studio under my membership, depending on my schedule. They offer different types of yoga classes but I go mostly for the barre. What I most appreciate about the barre classes is that EVERY class is different. In the past, I'd done barre in chain studios that were predictable and repetitive. But here, because this is a boutique studio, teachers have a large repertoire of exercises to draw upon and each class is unique. In short, I'm glad to have discovered Breathe. I'm stronger, more toned, always look forward to class and leave (tired but) happy! Thank you for nurturing such a supportive community for us windward peeps. read more

This was a really fun place to do yOga. I got a guest pass from my friend so I went to one of their evening classEs. I dont remember what class I took but it was challenging enough that I sweateD throughout the entire class and I was sore for a couple of days after. BUT it was a great class and I wish I lived on that side so I couLd go more. They even have an aerial yoga class on Fridays. Christina and her fabulous crew of teachers are the absolute best! I loved every class I've taken. It has helped me sleep better and gave me tools (breathing and stretching) to relax after a crazy day at work. I've been taking classes with my husband and he has been enjoying them too. Everyone has made us feel welcome and not intimidated that we were beginners! I love the positiveness and mindfulness in every class. This is exactly what I needed! I'm so glad Kaneohe finally has a studio like Barre in Mind! All the instructors have different styles which provides variety to the different yoga and barre classes and all make an effort to get to know the students in class. Parking is not a problem and I have always been able to find a space on the street heading toward Windward Mall. Class times are scattered throughout the day (even up to 7:30 at night) making it easy to find a class that fits your work schedule. There is ample room in the studio which is fully stocked with mats/ weights/ blocks/ and everything you need is provided. It's reassuring to see all levels of ability in class together so you do not have to be intimidated if you have not done yoga or barre before. Overall a very welcome addition to Kaneohe and well worth becoming a member. read more
