I went here about a month ago for the first time to get a full set & I loved my nails. They were so pretty & neat. I thought they were perfect until the started popping off after having them for bout two weeks. I lost three nails & had another one that was lifting up so I ended up just taking them all off. I have never had any nails that starts to lift off in two weeks. I've had nails for three months that don't come off like that. I just don't know what went wrong with those nails. I've never had a bad shellac experience until here. First, it was the most expensive I've ever paid for my nails. The staff was incredibly sweet to me but they did a terrible job. I'm better at painting my nails than them. They didn't remove any of the dead skin with the manicure and it was annoying to still see if after paying so much to get it removed. One hand has thicker polish than the other and it looks like I wearing two different colors! Very splotchy and thin! Never will I go there again, what a waste of money. read more

I'm really disappointed in my gel manicure. I was in town for work and decided to have my nails done at Nail Trix. Everyone was very nice, however after the second day, two of my nails have chipped. I was charged extra for cutting down my nails and was not informed. My acrylic nails broke off within a week. Everyone there was very rude. I went back to get another full set and once again within less than a week they broke off again. I've had acrylics on for years and never once have had an issue until I went to this place. Got a gel mani and pedi while I was in town for my son's baseball tournament. They did a great job! Everybody in the shop was so nice.

I pay for someone to do my nails as a treat to myself, not because I am unable to do it myself. Frankly, I could do a FAR better job than what I received at Nail Trix today. Firstly, the technician cut my fingers with the cuticle trimmers so they stung when she put the base coat on. She then put on the two layers of polish in a huge rush so that the two layers did not match up and the edges were really messy. I pointed out the messy edges to her twice and she couldn't seem to see what I was upset about. She used a small brush of acetone to "tidy up" the edges, but was literally just brushing the ends of my fingers and didn't even go near the polish. She also smudged one of the nails and when she was re-doing it, she smudged another. While my nails were drying, I complained quietly to my sister about how bad the job was and the technician stopped working on another girl's nails to beckon me over, and again "attempted" to tidy up the edges. I told her not to bother as the job was so terrible that she would literally have had to re-do the entire manicure. While I waited for my sister's nails to dry, the technician AGAIN interrupted working on the other girl to come over and remove the polish on three of my nails and re-do them, which I did appreciate, but there was still polish all over my fingers and the edges are messy. I felt bad for the other girl who was just sitting and waiting with her nails half-finished, and expressed this to the technician, who replied "it's OK, she doesn't mind". The salon was very busy so I expect they were just rushing through their customers and hoping nobody causes a fuss, but my nails look like a 9 year old painted them with a paintbrush. I smudged two of the nails over the next half hour but frankly I don't care because it couldn't make them look any worse. read more

I used to go here and stopped for multiple reasons. It appears they catering to the kids from the university and everyone else just sit by the way side. The last draw was when I developed fungus on both feet so bad that my skin 15 months later is still discolored. Both my big toenails separated from the base. My gel manicure peeled and chipped after just a week. I am not new to gel manicures and I do not experience the same with manicures I've received from other salons. I am upset that I spent $35 ($41 with tip) for a horrible manicure that peeled off, with some of my nail might I add, when I get beautiful manicures for $27 in north NJ (and it's not because NJ is cheaper, the cost of living is markedly higher). Also, the manicurist was very sloppy when filing my nails, a lot of them were slightly crooked, and she wouldn't listen when I asked for a square shape. Horrible experience. read more

One star because I'm required to. This place seemed harmless at first. For a while, I saw through the difficult parking, slim polish color selection, and even the fact that the prices were higher than what I was accustomed to paying because they did a decent job and they were close. That was until my last, and final, visit. I was getting a mani/pedi and eyebrow waxing because I was getting ready to go to the beach for a week. All was well with my visit until my eyebrow waxing..the lady took a chunk out of the middle of my left eyebrow! When she showed me the mirror she said, "okay?" and I said, "no! Not okay!" she immediately began apologizing and, in the same breath, telling me that it wasn't so bad since my side bangs covered the error. She did not understand that the beach for a week doesn't include bangs. Then she tried to get me to PAY for the waxing! I was appalled, left fuming, and promised never to go back. So, wax at your own risk, I guess. As for me, I'm paying more for a phenomenal wax experience at Moss. I'd rather pay more and have eyebrows, call me crazy! read more

Worst. Nail. Salon. Ever. I get my nails done frequently in Atlanta. When I moved to chapel hill, this was the only nail salon close enough to me without having to uber anywhere. Acrylic nails are nowhere near their specialty and they have the audacity to charge extra for shape. I got my nails done a couple days before Halloween. Literally a week later, three nails popped off like I bought them from wal-mart. I was pissed. I went back to tell them about their cheap acrylic and they accused me of not going to them in the first place! SO RUDE. One lady told me that a nail or two is expected to fall off. What kind of expectation is that? Anyway, they agreed to do my nails for "free" (i paid 36 dollars a week ago, far from free). To my unpleasant surprise, my nail popped off yesterday, exactly a week later after I got them redone. There is no dent in my natural nail from the acrylic, my nails are smooth and barely roughed up from the nail. In Atlanta, it's a hassle to take my nails off after 3 or 4 weeks of getting them done. New management is WONDERFUL! I got a shellac manicure done by Tan who did an amazing job (I'm very particular about my nails and he blew me away)! Some of the cuticle oil got trapped under the shellac and so the next day it was peeling off. I went back to the salon and the manager Tina took great care of me. She redid my shellac, which I was sort of hesitant because Tan had done such a great job the day before but Tina sure knows her stuff! She also did an amazing job and my new shellac manicure looked just as wonderful as it did the day before. Their prices are a little more than the other place I go for shellac but the service and attention to detail is worth a few extra dollars. I will be going back for sure!! The lady who did my shellac manicure today was so so nice, smiling and making sure I was pleased with her work. She even gave me a free mini shoulder massage as I waited for my nails to harden. No. Just, no. I don't even know where to begin. It's dirty. They have a very limited selection of old and chunky polishes. They do not appear to sterilize their tools. I needed my gel polish taken off and they had me stick my hands in a bowl of acetone. I have never ever seen that before. They up charge you for buffing your feet. Isn't that a standard part of a pedicure? Because I get one every two weeks at home and it always has been! The technician tried to give me my manicure sitting in the pedicure chair, which was uncomfortable and very awkward. My polish is a streaky mess on both my toes and hands. And they charge $50 for this? Unbelievable. I would have paid almost anything to get out of there though. Seriously - do NOT go here. read more

Every time I have been here has been during the day on a weekday, so no crowding problems. They have recently upgraded their massage chairs and I think updated some other stuff as well. I've done manicures - regular and gel - pedicures, and brow waxing here and always had a good experience. They have a great selection of premium manicure/pedicure options if you want extra pampering. I get the "Mommy To Be" and they take very good care of me. The pace is a little relaxed and slow compared to other places that I've been - they bring you something to drink, will bring you more magazines, etc. They're not super quick as a rule, so if you are in a hurry, you should probably tell them. The thing that keeps me coming back is the atmosphere - these ladies really seem to get along with each other and with their clients. I have occasionally ended up in manicure places where some of the technicians seem either bored or unhappy - the staff at Nail Trix are totally the opposite. I had a pretty bad experience here. It was rush week for sororities, so they were pretty busy, but while my feet were soaking the lady doing my nails grabbed a pillow, put it on my lap, laid a towel over it, and then balanced a UV drying light machine on the pillow right over the pedicure water so she could get my manicure out of the way super quick. It felt unsafe, and the gels nails turned out splotchy and uneven. I don't understand why she felt the need to do this, even when there were multiple manicure stations open for use. She unplugged the massage chair cord from the wall so she could turn the machine on, and so I missed out on the part I look forward to the most. Once she got around to the feet, they had been soaking for so long they were already pretty pruned from being immersed in water for an uncomfortable amount of time. She didn't use caution when cleaning out underneath my toenails, so now the beds of my toenails hurt a little from the cleaning knife thing. It was not enjoyable, and I paid way too much to be unhappy with the results. I don't recommend this place to college kids on a budget that want to get their money's worth. read more

I recently discovered a wonderful nail salon while working in Chapel Hill. I walked in and discovered a friendly and caring staff. They provide a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere there. Great, convenient location. Tina is so kind and conscientious. She, along with her staff, is dedicated to providing her clients with the best quality service there is. Everyone there is so professional and courteous. I like that they accept both men and women clients. I'm also glad they accept walk-in's. The hours are so convenient, too. I am always very pleased with my pedicure s and manicure. My fingernails were in tough shape and Tina has done an excellent job in restoring them back to a much more healthier condition. The same is true for my toenails. Tina and her staff always makes you feel at home and special. I love the relaxing massage chairs. They warmly ask you if you would like something to drink while having your pedicure and/or manicure done. The bathroom is always so clean and nice. I see they offer therapeutic massage and waxing there, as well. I always leave there very satisfied and refreshed. I highly recommend Nail Trix in Chapel Hill to everyone! read more

This place is terrible. I have acrylic nails and I went in for a nail repair because one of my nails had a small chip in the tip. Rather than just brushing the acrylic liquid onto the chipped space, they tore the acrylic off of my real nail (ouch!) and started over. My other nails are all round, but the one they repaired is an odd rounded pointy shape. Lastly, I had gel polish on my nails, and the one that they repaired is streaky because the woman just put two globs of nail polish on them instead of even coats. The woman doing the repair for me seemed more occupied with returning to the Netflix show that she was watching when I came in. I will not be returning! read more

I usually never write reviews, but I definitely needed to write one on Nail Trix. This was by far the worst nail salon I've been to. I visit my usual nail salon quite often, as I get an acrylic and need a fill about every two weeks. I was unable to go there this time, so I decided to give Nail Trix a try, despite the reviews posted about them on here. My advice... TRUST THE REVIEWS! They did a horrible job on my fill in, as majority of the acrylic ended up on my cuticles, skin and underneath my nail. She did not do a good job shaving the acrylic down either and snagged my fingers multiple times with the machine. They also only used one coat of the color polish when the standard protocol is to use two. When I asked her to add polish to my nail, as she had missed a spot, she argued with me, and didn't do so until I asked her multiple times. It's only been about 3 hours since I got my nails done and the polish is already starting to crack. If you are able to go somewhere else to receive services, definitely do so! I do not recommend here at all. read more

I went to their salon because the person that used to do my nails moved out of state. I went in with a great set of nails... They had a new system that they claim made your nails look more natural and was safer, didn't damage your nails and let your nails breathe... It is better,I beg to differ. It is poor quality and probably cheaper... Your nails can breath because after a week of being on there they begin to lift off your nail. I went there had it done... I called them and complained... They wanted me happy so they were going to fix it... When I go in I said just do tips... No she did the whole nail (what she wanted) not what I ask for then only charged me 20.00... I don't think I should have been charged anything because, they did shabby work and not what I ask for.... So again, a week after the re-do... They are lifting again. I removed them on my own and decided I will not return. They charge to much for poor quality work. I will find a new place and only get manicure and pedicures. read more
