How to even start... Summer is ALL YOU WILL EVER NEED FOR YOUR BABY'S PHOTOGRAPHY!!!! You couldn't find a better Newborn Photographer if you tried. Go ahead and try. That's right, you couldn't find one. It's cuz she's the BEST. EVERY. SINGLE. IMAGE is perfect. I've been amazed at how she is able to take totally crazy, newborn skin (bumpy, red, splotchy, acne, jaundice, you name it) and make it smooth and creamy- and it looks beautiful and natural. Soooo many photographers don't do this well. I see (too often) images of babies looking red/splotchy and uncomfortable, or the opposite happens and they look waaay over-photoshopped and plastic. Summer is an expert in every way. I look at a baby's face and take a photo with my iphone thinking "they are SO cute!!!!" then I see the photo and I think, "what happened???!!!" lol. She is able to bring out the beautiful serenity of the babies she photographs and also keeps the real and natural "feel" of it all. Her use of color and props is out of this world. You won't find a better planner, as she plans every detail. She makes every hair stay in place (sooo important to my OCD-ness) and is conscious of each little, tiny finger's placement of your baby. She'll take family photos if you beg her, and she makes the new Mommies look sooooo amazing and natural! It's seriously incredible. Here's the reason you are going to believe every word I say. I'M A PHOTOGRAPHER TOO!!! I would bring my own babies to her every. single. time. I trust her THAT MUCH. Do you know how picky a photographer is when choosing her own photographer??? Spectacular photos and awesome experience! I loved it all. Summer made sure the photos worked well with our decor and were exactly what we wanted according to our color/style preferences. She nailed it! Even more amazing than I could have imagined. She's so creative. Def also an expert w making your baby comfy and cozy in her professional studio. If you are on the fence about which newborn photographer to select...look no further. There are a couple of options in the Hampton Roads area but Summer is truly gifted when it comes to newborn photography. From start to finish, the experience was seamless. Summer is extremely attentive and responsive. She knew EXACTLY what I was looking for with little/no guidance/help from me. Her studio is amazing and equipped with clothing and props to meet your needs. A mom herself, she knew exactly what to do to calm the baby when he got fussy. When it came time to review our photos, I was in tears. I couldn't believe what she was able to accomplish with our little one. She made the decision of selecting a photo extremely difficult. So much variety and every photo is flawless! If you're on the fence about whether or not newborn photos are worth it - I'll tell you that I'll cherish these photos forever. I searched high and low for an exceptional newborn photographer. I found everything that I was looking for and more in Summer. I spent about 3-4 hours at her home studio while she photographed my son. She was completely gracious and professional throughout. She is clearly amazing at what she does. The photos were exceptional. We ended up with the 26 different photos and at least 6 or 7 looks. The photos were not unnatural and overly contorted but they were still beautifully done in the Anne Geddes style. I enjoy looking at them as much today as I did in her studio (the reveal actually brought me to tears). My only "warning" is that this is a significant investment so be prepared and make sure that you understand pricing. read more

Summer has a fantastic studio with amazing props/accessories. She communicated in detail about our newborn session prior to our daughter being born and thoroughly planned for it. Her online contract and payment system were professional and convenient. During the session, Summer was a natural with our daughter (it was obvious she has plenty of experience with newborns). Summer is an excellent photographer and very easy to get along with! When our son was born, we had a hard time finding a newborn photographer. We really wanted someone who specialized in babies only instead of someone who photographs anything! We committed to Bella Rose Portraits based on the variety of poses and set designs she had displayed on her website, the quality of the images, and after reading the positive reviews on Yelp. She does not overbook her sessions so she has plenty of time to really focus on every client with her undivided attention. We were able get in for our session before our baby was even a week old. I was reluctant to take my little guy out being he was only a few days old but Summer made me feel right at home. When we arrived, I was tired and stressed and nervous about handing my new baby over to a stranger for multiple hours but she set me right at ease and took charge and told me I could sit back and relax. Summer was wonderful with my baby, getting him calmed down so easily whenever he fussed that I asked for tips after the photo session! She handled my son with such care that it was obvious she has a special touch with babies. During the photo shoot my little guy got hungry and she patiently waited for him to take his feeding without making me feel even a little pressured or hurried. She was so incredibly patient and loving with our newborn son! From the moment I first contacted her via her website until she delivered our images, she was extremely responsive, professional, and very easy to work with. She offers many beautiful products for you to choose from and they are all of the highest quality. My favorite is the wall art with her Organic Bloom frames! It was so nice having her take care of everything from start to finish. She helped me choose the best sizes of prints for my space and even has this great app that showed me what my images would look like on my own walls! It would have been so much work to have to do that all by myself while taking care of a newborn! When we returned for our gallery reveal we were absolutely thrilled with our images--they were PERFECT! Summer captured priceless moments and poses of our son and the props and setups were so cute and added a personal touch. These days photographers are a dime a dozen. It was important to me that MY baby photographer produce amazing images. That newborn stage passes by so quickly and I'm so glad that we made the investment to have it captured so beautifully. My husband and I had such a great experience with Bell Rose Photography. Our sweet little 7 day old daughter was so comfortable and taken care of during her photo shoot.
