I already have a graduate degree so this isn't my first time in "even higher Ed" but this is my first time in such a gentle community of scholars and feeling really supported not just by the faculty of the school but the professional staff as well. As a student I have not only enjoyed great classes but my internship opportunities have been fruitful as well. There are extra lectures that are open to the community, opportunities to provide public, AND because it is Presbyterian everyone is welcome to attend and participate fully but also there are committees where you get to frequently use Robert's Rules of Order. So many committees, so many motions. The Seminary also features a counseling center where you can recieve low-cost therapy for yourself or your family, couple, etc. This is a chill Jesus type of Christian institution and there are several students who are not Presbyterian (I'm not) and even students who don't practice a form of Christianity. These are the most earnest and sincere people I have ever studied or worked with. If you're looking for angry Jesus, he's across the street.

I stayed at a conference on the grounds of the Louisville seminary. While I was a bit hesitant…read more(was it going to be a dorm?), I was really surprised at the very professional accommodations, and the amenities for the room and the common areas (good wifi, coffee, cable tv, the important things). My room was very clean and spacious. It took me a while to find the business center; they had two computers with a printer, but i couldn't get online. The grounds and the locale were particularly impressive, reflective of a very affluent "Kentucky" neighborhood: old trees, endless manicured lawns, a golf course nearby. Considering the political reputation of KY, and the notoriety of a neighboring Southern Baptist Seminary, I was somewhat hesitant about excessive rules or a dominant religiously evangelistic culture, but I thought this location had a good balance, lots of opportunties for spiritual reflection and practice, but not an oppressive expectation of uniformity. Finally, we had breakfast at the school cafeteria, and while it was quiet and typical of a buffet/cafeteria, the grits, casserole, and and eggs and ham were quite adequate. The fruit seemed sort of generic... I would have preferred peaches, pears, etc., that I assume would be plentiful in the autumn, in the south!

They did not accept cash so we had to scan an app with our phone and charge it to our credit card. Seemed like and excessive price to pay for a high school game. We got a seat in the bleachers and as soon as we sat down they began to blast music so loud we couldn't hear anything. They continued to blast every time one of the teams scored or there was a time out. I suppose the kids like it, but it will be our last time to attend. We've been to other schools that played music at games, but not the overkill like it was here.

Code Louisville also offers a bevy of additional resources, like job readiness workshops, one day workshops like "Salesforce", help on resumes, mentors available daily, and more. You can tell that they truly care about your success, and they are invested in it. My hope is that the grant funding for this facility continues, and can impact the city immensely to motivate more investment in tech talent. During my graduation event, I was able to meet recruiters from several companies, plus Lieutenant Governor Jeanine Hampton, and Mayor Greg Fischer, who is a big proponent of the programs here. The teachers here treat you unfairly and are sarcastic and flat out mean. One day I was minding my business at lunch, and I get a orange peel thrown at me. I threw it back at THEIR table because I'm not a maid, nor slave, nor servant. So I'm simply not going to take their trash or have it thrown at me like I am trash. They threw more things, so I did what was right and told the authority, but due to the lack of logic these teachers have, they failed to get me away from the situation but put me beside the problem itself. They sat me next to the student who threw the food, and a teacher decided to yell at me to sit down like I was the problem. Now I don't often name drop, but it gets to a point where I'm feeling mistreated. Ms. Wyatt (a teacher), and Mr. G the 7th grade principle, did not fix the situation. You say bullying is a no go, but you continue to let it go on with no consequences for the students who caused this chaos. I went to this school because I heard it was great and now I'm disappointed. Ms. Wyatt favors the boys, and she only acts like a good teacher when a suit comes in. She lets the boys sit on the air vents with their phones out, but if the girls even try sitting down on an air vent they get yelled at to get off. I'm greatly disappointed that there are only a few teachers that will take action aka Mr.Gray and Mrs. Black in this 7th grade team. All I know is that this school fails to take action when things like bullying happen and especially when a student decides to speak up about it.
