We didn't reserve any stand up paddle boards but we were greeted by a friendly college student who got us out on the water quickly. We boated under the bridge and saw a man made dam before heading over to the sand bar where our kids splashed around and played in the mud. We had kids as young as 6. If you're just paddling, I think 1 hour is enough but if you want to stop and play on the sandbar then 2 hours. Great time with a great business.

It is a cute little place with some benches, access to the water and a tiny rock beach, and views of the lighthouse. But, there isn't much to do here. I didn't see any educational displays about the lighthouse. It is a cute place to spend a couple of minutes, but unless you want a nap next to the water you will become bored pretty quick. The Hemlock Trail was dense with trees and most of the trail was covered in roots. It led to the Hidden Marsh, which had a nice little boardwalk to walk out into the bright, vast marsh. We also checked out Woodlands Walk, which was a short set of loops, with fun little signs that told a cute children's story along the way. There were a few signs on the trails, but there wasn't quite as much information about the trees and plants as I would have expected. Still, it was great for a stroll and some sections felt like easy hiking, so it's a very pleasant place to wander for a few hours.

I've been to other arboretums in NYS and they have flowers that add to the appeal of visiting these places. I stopped in to kill time since I was early for checking into my camp site nearby. This arboretum had a few miles of trails with various facts about the trees and plants they care for. If you visit be sure to donate to help the staff maintain the property. While it didn't blow me away I do understand and appreciate the hard work that goes into maintaining places like this.

Old seedy and…read morebeautiful Hasbrouck Park has been around for a while. It became a park back in the 1920s and was the first official park in the town of Kingston. The area was used for mining for a long time and when it was mined out ended up with the town. It's a large park of about 45 acres with rolling hills and woods surrounding the open areas. Lot of stuff in this park including basketball courts, softball fields, picnic areas, a large pavilion and great views of the Hudson River, A very cool place but one with an edge. Lots of graffiti on walls and broken bottles scattered around. When we were there I saw a prostitute with a customer as well as several people smoking what I assumed to be illegal substances. An interesting park that has it's own stark beauty but definitely a place I would not want to be at night. The views of the Hudson River from the top of the hill are beautiful but all the graffiti and skanky stuff going isn't. A park that reflects what is beautiful in Kingston and some things that aren't.

The children's playground only had one swing for the littler ones, but it wasn't crowded or anything, so not a big deal. Looks like there is a lot of fishing going on, for those who like that sort of thing. I will definitely bring my son back.
