What an amazing house of God! I'm not even a Baptist-I'm actually Pentecostal and still consider this my home church. The worship is top notch, the sermons are very Bible based and Pastor Ben is an anointed speaker! He is engaging, funny and extremely easy to follow along. They also have a phenomenal children's ministry. Pastor Ken, the children's pastor is one of the kindest men I have ever met. And not just him. We have been at Bellevue for years and they have always been great. My kids were raised here and I love this place

Bellevue is known for standing on the Word of God for over 100 years. There are ministries for every age group and life stage. The church will feel very large unless you get involved in what they call a Life Group (Sunday School). The have an amazing choir that sings both new and traditional songs and hymns. I found the the members to be inviting and polite. Bellevue is a place worth visiting. Services are at 9:15 and 11:00 and Life Groups meet at 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00. read more

This is a wonderful venue for a graduation. Attended our Grandsons graduation from Germantown Houston High tonight. Class was about 400 students. The ceremony and all the species took just less than 60 minutes. The seating was perfect as we had a direct view of the stage. Parking was a breeze and we got out and on the way back to the hotel in no time. read more

Just seen a video on Tik Tok where they turned an elderly women away and called the cops on her just for asking for help. Isn't that what churches are supposed to do is help the needy and restore the broken people that come to church. This goes to show you who is doing the work of the God and who is benefiting from it. WARNING!!!!: This is NOT a review of the church or it's pastor! I am not reviewing this church, I don't even attend this church. I'm reviewing the parks that are on the church grounds. They are open to the public and it is my favorite park to go to in the East Memphis area. That includes Shelby Farms Park because the Bellvue Park is big enough for my kids to enjoy. But with 3 preschoolers (My little ones are 3, 4 and 5 years old) I need a park that is small or confined enough for me to keep track of all three kids at the same time. The parks meet all their age levels, they are gated in so no one can roam away, there are benches and tables for picnics or resting. There are also pavilions to eat in the shade or rent out for birthday parties. They have the rubbery soft material for kids to run on and it reduces injuries during falls, and also another great thing about the Bellvue Parks is that they have canopies over they play areas so kids get some shade while playing outdoors. There are nice clean bathrooms within the church/gym facilities that we can use. I'm really going to miss the Bellvue Park when we move out of state. I would think a grand church such as this with a front desk like a business would have the means to help others. Isn't that the point? Where does all the money people give every weekend go then? Absolutely disgusting people that run this church. I like many others saw the video of them calling a total of 4 cops to remove an 85 year old woman asking for help... let me say that again. I've been a few times with my friends and thought it was okay. But one Of my friends are a part of a group and they all talk badly about me, including their teacher. She is almost encouraging that the girls in the group talk bad about me and who knows who else. Two of my friends are in this group, one is the one telling me and the other is the one starting all the conversations about me in the class. that I know of, this only happens in a small group that meets on Wednesday nights. read more

This is the largest Baptist Church in Memphis, with several satellite locations also. It is very friendly, with convenient parking and a host of programs for all ages and all walks of life. It's gym is first rate, with a walking track, multiple basketball courts, and all sorts of equipment (treadmills, weight machines, free weights, stair climbers (or whatever those machines are called), stationary bikes, etc. The services are good, and the Word is preached faithfully. read more

Wonderful church. people are nice. very big church too with a nice cafe, large building with lots of activities for the church to do.

We went here on a whim with a friend who belongs to this church, and did it more out of respect for him. My husband and I have been trying to find a church in Memphis for a while, and figured we might as well give it a shot. Religion and beliefs aside, I much prefer a pastor who does not "preach" at me or revolve his/her sermon around quoting entire chunks of the Bible. I much prefer pastors who choose one specific Bible verse and then spend the remaining sermon relating it to every day life. This sermon was nothing like that, in fact it was a solid hour of him reciting whole chunks of the Bible. Even weirder, there was a fill-in-the-blank worksheet inside our program that we were supposed to fill out while we sat there. No thanks. I will say that the people we met here were lovely. Very friendly and welcoming. I also like the fact that they offer up a large amount of classes- couples, singles, parents etc. They have just about everything you can imagine. I think the church is a bit too large and ostentatious. Any church that hires police to direct traffic in and out every Sunday is a little much for me. This church felt more like a large shopping mall to me than a place of worship. They have a book store and a library for Pete's sake. I much prefer my church to have fellowship in the basement that smells like sneakers and serves super weak Folgers out of Styrofoam cups. It's so much churchier that way. FYI- Bellvue has their very own, pre-printed to-go coffee cups that resemble something you'd get at Starbucks. That's taking things a bit too far for me. Not a Baptist, but the folks are friendly and the facility is BIG. Around Memphis, it is know as 'FORT GOD'. It was built around Pastor Adrian Rogers, a stalwart in Memphis for a generation. As of late, it seems to have struggled after Adrian's death, looking for a new voice. read more

Well, I just love this church. I can appreciate that Bellevue may not be the right church home for many people, but from the minute my sons and I walked in the door, we knew we were home. My children quickly became involved in the children's ministry, and I in the music ministry. One great thing about Bellevue is that the church as a whole has SO much to offer anyone who is willing and ready to get involved, there really is something for everyone and every walk of life. In such a large church, getting involved with something helps to reduce its size. Once you start attending regularly and meeting people, and learn your way around, the church isn't really all that large. Still big, yes, but it becomes familiar - home. Some of the reviews surprise me, but it also shows that some don't really understand what Bellevue is all about. The notes sheet from the bulletin is provided to further enhance our understanding of Pastor Steve's sermon. There are holes punched into each sheet so they can be saved and reached for later reference, if desired. The whole idea is a continuous study of the Bible and the Word within, and these sheets are a great aid. Bellevue does have a lot of money, but that is due to a giving congregation as well as other donations (many about which I know nothing!). The tithing donations are spread out to many many programs, including but not limited to kids' summer camps, mission trips, the traveling dentist, Bellevue Loves Memphis, ARISE to Read, and more. The whole idea is to GIVE BACK to Memphis and other places of need. As Pastor Steve, as well has his wife, Donna, has said more than once, Memphis is Bellevue's greatest missions ground. So yes, Bellevue has some money, but a lot of good is done with that money. Pastor Steve is passionate in his beliefs, and delivers great sermons. He is a man of God and of Prayer, and I like how he preaches from the Bible, yet his sermons do not solely revolve around them. He delivers sermons that are relatable and easy to understand, and does so in a way that keeps you coming back for more. The "Breaking the Chains" series was really great. I am very happy at Bellevue, and I don't plan on leaving any time soon. read more

ive been going to Bellevue as long as i can remember and can tell you now that im moving i will miss this church so much! The Volunteers and Staff are the nicest people, ive made many great friends at this church and i have so many fond memories from the events they have. Bellevue is a one of a kind church and has so much you could get tired of it if you did it all, from youth camps, Vacation Bible School on steroids, a Broadway style musical every December, and much more! Ive done literally everything with Bellevue and they always put an emphasis on the Bible and Faith, the Pastors will always have a Bible no matter what their doing, and Staff can some times be found walking down the halls praying during week days, if you just moved to Memphis and want a church that will make you feel welcome please go to Bellevue you will be blessed! read more

It's a beautiful church, and I think that the current pastor is great. the note section of the bulletin is given to assist the congregation and visitors assistance to following along with the pastor notating the important points the pastor has selected. Bellevue's got a beautiful, big campus which gives the impression of being stuck up and rich. The reality is that the facilities are paid for and they only spend money to maintain them. It's unfortunate that some people have the idea that churches should be small and not have a lot of ornamentation. God, however, is the architect and artist of a beautiful universe, full of wonders we can barely fathom. He wants us to make our creations beautiful as well. Yes, there are hungry people in the world, but there should also be beauty. Many older, traditional churches are much more ornate than Bellevue. Bellevue's big because it needs to hold a lot of people (practical), and it's beautiful because the house of God should be a thing of beauty. Worshipping at such a church only emphasizes the majesty and glory of God. To the person who complained about the police directing traffic at the intersections and using public tax dollars...Bellevue pays for the police presence on Sunday mornings. They do not use tax money for free police service. Secondly, I agree that it slows traffic and it can be annoying, but if the police don't help out, it can take upwards of 15 minutes just to get out of the parking lot. When you're dealing with 2000+ cars trying to leave/enter at the same time, it's easier and safer to have someone directing traffic. I can guarantee that there are no other churches in the city who do as much for the city or for missions around the country and world. Bellevue has a big budget, but 1/4 of it goes to missions alone, and only a small amount goes to service the church. They also provide a lot of free service to the community, like letting schools use the facilities for free for graduations and in-service teacher training. It's not for everyone. Some people will never feel comfortable in a large church setting, and prefer a small church feel. I attended Bellevue my whole life until I moved out of state, and I'm more comfortable in a large church. Churches are usually large because they have great pastors, great family programs, and great ministry opportunities. It's harder to find those things among smaller churches, but I get the appeal of smaller churches as well. You need to go where God leads you, whether it's Bellevue or not. read more

I came here because of a friend a few years ago. Raised in another faith I was not very much interested but with no friends in Memphis I went along. The place was huge and it looked beautiful and very expensive. I saw all these bible groups and other groups raising money for their trip to other countries. I am like if this place is so rich why they have to raise money. Anyways also when I was sitting there I just felt this is money making machine. I am thinking so many people hungry in the world and this place looks like an opera. It is just my opinion. After visiting this church I never returned. Its shocking and sad how some self proclaimed Christians judge a church on its size and the traffic guards , etc. Church is about the teaching of GODS word!! And what the church does for its community and member and in Bellevue's case the world. They do so much in Memphis and around the world. So before you JUDGE a church by its size and the parking and pamphlets to help you study, some people like to study the lesson when they get home... Do some research on the church and what it stands for. Sorry for venting but it's sad.. As for the size, go to a big city and see some of their churchs. Steve is a awesome pastor. I really enjoy his sermons. The employees at the church I don't think listen to his sermons. I felt some were rude. For example they were looking for volunteers to help maintain all the lawn equipment they have on the property. I called twice to let them know I was interested and that I have experience repairing lawn equipment. I never was contacted by anyone from the church. I tried to become a member and they stated that my baptism from 18 years earlier, which was performed at the church I was attending at the time wasn't good enough. I needed to be baptist again. Though they didn't seem to mind cashing all my checks I put in the tithe. read more

Our marriage is back on track, I've been sober for a good long while now. I owe a majority of that good fortune to Bellevue. If your lost and need guidance, turn from the world and back to Jesus. Now I go to different church because it is closer to me, but I am surprised to read all the bad reviews saying this church is a money making machine and that is so rich and big and luxurious, if you talking about luxury just go to Vatican San Pieter and San Patrick or San Vitro...and I can keep goin if is some money machine church you have to turn your eyes is to the Catholic organization no onliy one church that actually helps all around the world and the Memphis community read more

I've been coming to this church for 7 years and I love it! Pastor Gaines talks about Jesus and His Word. He has a subject in mind, and he uses Bible verses to show it is God's Word, and not his, that he is preaching on. He makes it where it is easy to understand. It is a mission church and it is so nice to see the people going on various missions, many helping build a church in poor areas and helping others. It also has a dental bus that goes into the Memphis area and gives free dental work to the ones who cannot afford it. The dentists/assistants volunteer their work. They have classes for every age group, for which I am in one of them. The people of Bellevue are so friendly. During the year they have various concerts, plus the Christmas Tree event. I just love it here! Next year, God willing, I'll be moving out of State, and am going to miss all this church has to offer. This church is for me and I love going here! Oh, one thing when I move, they telecast live t.v. so I will be able to still watch Steve preach via internet! :D read more

I have been a member of Bellevue for over 30 years. The years under the leadership of Dr. Adrian Rogers were wonderful, and I became a Christian during that time. The midtown location was phenomenal, and I was sad when we left. Now we are in Cordova under the leadership of Dr. Steve Gaines. How blessed we have been to have two such men of God in these years. The church is warm and friendly, and we do give money to do the work that we believe Jesus has commissioned us to do-locally, nationally and internationally. We are Baptist, and we know that not all people and not all people of faith agree with us- and that's ok. Jesus is all in all- and He is lifted up at Bellevue. That's how I know I can always meet Him there as we worship corporately, then come to know Him better as we are taught from scripture. The church is amazing! All are welcome to join us. read more

Disappointed. I was told by a friend about the children's park area. Which I loved. My sons birthday was coming up. I needed something nice and affordable and I wanted to rent or reserve part of the pavilion area . I called the number posted for reserving and was told sorry members only can reserve a table. So this park is for the community but the pavilion is for members only I'm guessing. I was really low on income since my husband's job cut his hours and it would have helped us out greatly that's why I was soooo disappointed. I do attend this church Fourth of July event every year it's really great. read more

Well my friend works a delivery job and had a very bad experience with this church.The order was a $500 order.Upon arrival there was no answer when my friend tried to call the person whos order it was which I will not mention.He never got a answer to the persons who ordered the food so he jus start setting $500 worth of pizza and salads on the nearest table.My friend said he was approached by a male at the church and the first thing he had to say to him was, youre late!My friend said he had a hard time lifting 10 bags inside and tried calling the bellvue staff numerous of times but got no answer felt disrespected by the approach of the male.The staff was very rude and didn't tip my friend.My friend also said he called the owners phone afterwards and left a voicemail of how the staff was rude,and how he didn't receive a tip on a $500 order which happens but you would think differently at a church.The staff member who ordered never returned his call but called his job complaining about my friend when they never answered his call upon trying to deliver the food properly.I wrote this review to protect my friend and wanted to let people know that you would expect more out of church goers.This was a bad experience for him and we pray that they work on their greeting and the way they treat everyday civilians.Having a nice church doesent make you better than anyone,and when someone is trying to deliver your food and you get mad at the driver because he couldn't contact anyone and when my friend approached the front desk operator,she was very rude and unhelpful.We are praying for the people but we will not be attending nothing at Bellvue.Thanks and I hope this review is helpful to someone. read more
