Their chicken breast box is the worse 100 dollars I have ever spent. Was shredded, cut, and mangled to the point of being unusable as a breast and needs to be cut up. I talked to someone and they said "other than being shredded it looked fine." Check the photo below to see if you would pay almost 4 dollars a pound for chicken like this. Comes in a box with four bags so who knows what you are getting until you open it.

This market is newer (still, been here for decades, I think.) Plenty of parking. Open reasonable hours (till 7 most days.) Good produce, good butcher, good bakery. Lots of interesting dry goods, much of it local and/or Amish. And, of course, their famous canned meats. Turkey, chicken, pork, beef. Low salt versions. Big cans and little ones. They'll last for years, so stock some in the cupboard, or your tornado box, or your bomb shelter. They'll can your meat, too (deer, etc.) Friendly service. Prices are pretty high, but it's quality stuff, and a lot of it you won't find anywhere else. I saw pickled quail eggs; never seen those before. Huge gummi butterflies that Baby K loves. And Hires root beer- I haven't seen that in a store in 20 years.

The frozen battered onion rings have become a curse for me. They are so good that I eat them atleast once per week. They are much better air fried than deep fried. The way I learned no single spice should dominate a product, but you create a flavor profile by blending. I make great Kielbasa myself, in my experience the main spices are garlic and marjoram. I don't have a clue of what they are using. Super cute, clean, has a nice case that offers a large variety of cuts. We like that the meat is locally sourced. We like how friendly the staff is. Usually the meat we get is excellent. However, the last trip wasn't perfect. we came up on June 2nd, purchased two large racks of beef ribs, 9 pounds of pork butt, 6 bacon burgers. and some beyond spicy jerky. Total cost 191.14. Kind of felt that was a bit high tbo but this was my husbands order so i just stood there observing. Now I expect some fat on ribs. When the man that handled our order he said "i took off some (meat) off the top before you came. Here they are". I thought.. "thats weird. Why would u trim off meat." But again said nothing. We will get to that in a bit.... We get home. Cooked the six bacon burgers which were crazy good. They grind bacon into the beef and form a patty for you. They were very nice. Would drive up get again. My son next cracks open the jerky. Spicy is an understatement. Its super duper crazy spicy. Now, I like spicy, so does half my family. Fair warning this may of been the spiciest Ive ever had. It was right at the edge of ohhhh this might be too spicy, but didn't quite cross that line. Make sure you like spicy. It was good. I think they make it themselves. Thats a plus in our eyes. But half the family wouldn't eat it -it was that spicy. Lol. (Whimps) The next night we have our BBQ. The pork was good. Nice marbling. Smoked up nicely but for this cut alone it wasn't really worth the miles and time up there as the price of it was a bit high. Now to the ribs.... This was the item that we were driving an hour to get. All the rest were add ons. These were to be the main feature of our BBQ. Total disappointment. Not sure what was trimmed off before we got there, but it must of been most of the meat... As what we went home with was almost mostly fat and bone The ribs also were what cost the most and wow... I am shocked that they sold us those and even more shocked my husband (who is a great BBQ guy) weirdly accepted them. My point with this review is, as a customer--check your slabs of ribs. If they are fatty... and your gut say too fatty-- speak up! as this shop usually sends you home with perfect meat. Im sure there are more in the back and if Im sure they are great at suggesting a plan B. This time they missed the mark with us, but again, I have faith that if we ever go back it should be a better experience, as the other two experiences were amazing. I want to emphasize-- This isnt a place that should be skipped cuz of the rib issue. There is always a line in the shop.its a good place. However, I would recommend as a customer--check the cuts that are presented without worrying about offending the clerk if you feel the meat needs to be swapped out - if you feel its fatty or not a great cut for price, advocate for your own purchase. I feel the rib disappointment was as much our fault for not advocating as theirs for presenting that flawed slab. Sometimes you just make a mistake. We both did that day. I know we will be back for the burgers. Those were crazy good. I dont even like hamburger and I really liked the flavor of them.
