My wife cooked up some country style pork ribs we bought today, fantastic! Not just her prep, the meat had that great PORK flavor. Trimmed just right to have enough fat for taste, very impressed! This was our first visit, the staff was outstanding. Remember to take a ticket when you walk in! The gal wjo helped us knew her stuff, explaning the in house made sausages, jerky and smokeys. We asked where they sourced the beef and pork from and they weren't afraid to say (sign of a quality butcher) Great selection, large meat counter and plenty of rubs, sauces and condiments to go with. I am not very happy. I literally came out here for the purpose of getting ground sirloin. My husband spoke with someone a couple weeks ago and they said that I could literally pick a sirloin out of the case and they would grind it for me. Two weeks ago I tried coming but because of the traffic on 90 I couldn't get here before they closed at six. Today I leave work a few minutes early and they tell me they can't grind past 5 o'clock. What the hell is that BS. I would never recommend this place to anyone. The service is terrible.!! read more

I love Polansky's! Have been coming here for many years when I'm in the area. I live about a half hour away but when I'm around I'm always sure to stop. Staff is always helpful and friendly. Atmosphere is just a small town country market which is what I grew up with as a kid. Their smokies are TOP NOTCH! So good and available in like 8 different flavors. Where to start. We finally stopped in after years of driving past weekly. I love the beef. I stopped eating beef a few years ago because I could taste the chemicals or anitbiotics or the gases that are used to preserve them. The lady knew we were new customers and gave us free beef sticks. Everyone is so nice. The beef. I am now eating meat again so no more protien shakes for me. I wish we would have shopped there years ago and would still be enjoying the great cuts of meat. The frozen brisket burgers are a meal every single week now. The frozen battered onion rings have become a curse for me. They are so good that I eat them atleast once per week. They are much better air fried than deep fried. Quality food is important to me because I have been unable to dine out for almost 8 years now becuase of the high risk of infections. Every time my husband bowls, he has to stop in and shop. The prices are very good compared to regular grocery stores. Old fashioned meat market If your looking for a butcher shop that still does everything the old fashioned way this the the shop for you. It's an unassuming out of the way building. So watch for the sign when driving. Plenty of parking. Upon entering the market on the right hand side is a few freezers with food products and shelves with items to compliment your meat selection. There are no fruits or vegetables. The other side of the store has a meat counter with a variety of chicken, beef, and pork options. I got a variety of chicken, bacon and pork. The bacon was delicious. The only confusing part for first timers to the market is that they keep all your meat behind the counter until you are done selecting and then they take them all up to the register. read more

Great selection, quality meats, but service is not the best. I had a few items to purchase, less than 5 small items, placed them on the counter, the female clerk would not check me out saying I had to wait for other customers with their large meat orders. The customers told her to let me go ahead, she refused which puzzled everyone, so I left. Clerk had no common sense much less respect for the customers. Whenever one reads reviews of the best NE Ohio paprikas, the same half-dozen places or so always come up (and most are in Parma). Someone recently gave me a quart of Polansky's and it is by FAR the best I've had since my Grandmother passed decades ago. We will be making many trips to Amherst in the future for sure! This is my favorite meat market close to home. Their meats are fresh and reasonably priced. My favorite is the beef tenderloin for our special occasions. They cut them to order if you buy a whole tenderloin and grind the extra into the best ground burger meat. They also have a deli department for pasta salads, potato salad, and cubed cheeses. read more

As far as butchers go - it's a one-stop shop. There's no limits to what you can purchase at one time and the staff is happy to assist in loading your purchase into your vehicle for you. We already knew Polansky's has amazing affordable cuts of meat and a delicious fresh variety of beef stick snacks. Now add world-class chicken paprikash to the list! Their pillow soft dumplings are swaddled in shredded chicken, surrounded by sizable tender chicken chunks, all swimming in a rich buttery paprika gravy. Polansky's has a great staff, always friendly and efficient. The pricing is competitive. The only complaint I have is that the product is placed in a clear plastic bag unless you request otherwise. If you prefer the white freezer paper, you have to pay extra per pound for this request. The meat doesn't stay as fresh if it's placed in a plastic bag. Any other meat market I have been too automatically uses freezer paper to maintain the integrity of the product. I've had to discard several items because when I took them out of the freezer they were freezer burnt :( The plastic bags are acceptable if the product isn't going to be frozen. I choose to go elsewhere now because of this policy at Polansky's. read more

A nice small meat market. I went there to see what they had and though I didn't end up buying anything I do plan on returning some other time and picking some things up. This place is absolutely awesome! They have a large assortment of different meats, at prices that I haven't been able to beat anywhere else. I haven't been there to stock up or buy in bulk...yet. I say yet because I should, & I'm sure I will when I know I have the space in the freezer to save everything. Most of the time when I go there, I'm going for steaks. Their steaks are unbelievable. I picked some up just this past Monday, and again, we were not disappointed. My favorites cuts there are the delmonicos, and what they call rib steaks (which looks like a ribeye with the bone still on, if I'm not mistaken). Both cuts are always nice & thick, & beautifully marbled. When I was there on Monday, they had the delmonicos priced at $8.99/lb & the rib steaks at $7.99/lb. I ended up picking up 5 of the rib steaks for all of us. The total weight on my purchase when she wrapped them was 4.85 lbs, and my total cost was $38.75. I have NEVER been able to find this kind of value anywhere else. Where else can you get 5 steaks, at almost a full pound each, for under $40??? You can get steaks other places, sure. The meat counter at Giant Eagle has some nice steaks. But not for these prices. Walmart's steaks may be comparable in price, but don't come anywhere close in quality. Long story short, if you're a meat eater, Polansky's is the place to go. If you live anywhere close, you should check it out. Heck, you should check it out if you DON'T live anywhere close. It's worth the drive. Bring a cooler & some ice, & get some steaks, hamburger, chicken, bacon, sausage, ribs, pork chops, etc. etc. etc. read more
