Previously the dinner venue had provided a simple rose...but it changed to a carnation. We live out of state, so I called various floral shops to discuss what I wanted for these tables. I discovered Botanical Designs through their website and photos! I was also able to find exactly what I was looking for! It was a beautiful single rose design -- but truly spectacular! It was also called, "My One and Only" -- so perfect for a wedding rehearsal dinner. When I called to order, they were so friendly, and professional and discussed the color choices and made recommendations, as well. I arranged to have them delivered to the venue. The week prior, I called to update them with the hours the venue might be available for delivery. I spoke with another person at Botanical Designs, who was equally personable and he assured me that they would take care of the details. He was very reassuring. The evening of the event, I discovered the designs were even more beautiful in person and beyond my expectations. Pleasant, upbeat, and totally in tune with the detailed explanation of my expectations. In a 33-minute conversation, we covered: precise container, flowers, colors, height & shape of arrangement, amount of floral flow over the container and delivery timing. And... She delivered - right down to the type of berries I wanted. BRAVO AMANDA! BRAVO!!! I also applaud other members of their incredibly pleasant staff. My initial contact was with Mary. She was efficient and helpful with size, pricing & staff selection. Brief conversations with Tony & Jane confirmed that this is precisely the shop I would go to for a large, important function or event. So why does my opinion matter? I have been a flower arranger for more than 30 years. I have showcased arrangements at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston three times (for their Art in Bloom fundraiser). They've been in the business for years and are very good at it. They can do real or fake floral arrangements. I didn't need centerpieces because I already had something put together but they could have helped with that by using fake items as I had done. When I went with them to have a look at flowers to use, Kate, one of the florist can do local items, in fact they prefer it though they can always find other items too it just takes time and money. They work with any kind of budget. There was also another wedding I attended that they did the flowers for. The wedding had a bit of a Cardinal theme and they did patches of grass as the centerpiece and of course lots of red and white for the flowers. I highly recommend them.

I was so incredibly disappointed by my wedding bouquet and I hate that it's in my wedding photos. I asked for a large round bouquet, of which I showed her many pictures of examples, and my bouquet turned out to be the same size as my bridesmaid's...small. I don't know if she couldn't read her own handwritting or what because she uses a paper form to write down what is needed, and after a few changes it got incredibly hard to read, but I had the wrong flowers in my bouquet. I felt very frustrated and hopeless after meeting with her and discussing how flowers that I previously thought I'd be able to get in Sept. weren't going to be available afterall and had to choose a whole new bouquet. Not only was my bouquet very small and the wrong white flowers, the pink garden roses of which I paid so much for were browning when I got them. The arrangement itself looked thrown together with the colors not evenly blended throughout...a chunk of this kind of flower here, chunk of this kind of flower there. She sent an apology bouquet to my house after my mother-in-law told her how terrible the flowers were and the arrangement sent to my house were also browning and wilting, not quite as bad as my wedding bouquet though.

Score 1,000,000 for my little sister! And for Southern Floral Shop!! The greenery was abundant and of so many textures and dimensions. Red carnations and red roses. Frosted pine cones. Plaid ribbon rimmed in gold. And two beautiful candles in the middle -- at different heights. Whoever composed this amazing beauty should get an award. Plus great directions on keeping the arrangement healthy with wonderful watering directions, including having some element of holding the excess water, so it doesn't leak.
