It wasn't even my wedding!…read more We went to a wedding at the Windmill Winery, and this was the suggested DJ. I have been to a few weddings, and what I know is the DJ is everything. Yes, the photographer is important, but the DJ is the party; people remember the party; you only see the pictures. The bride and groom took countless hours putting together a song list of 45 "must-have songs"; 15 were played. The DJ forgot the names of the bride and groom multiple times and even had minutes on the dance floor where no music and awkward silence filled the room. Now, on a good note, there was an itinerary for how the night was supposed to go. On that itinerary was the order people were talking and dancing. The only people to look at it were the bridal party and the wedding planner. The matron of honor had to take over talking because the DJ was lost. Come to find out, the DJ at this wedding was a last-minute replacement because the "head guy" overbooked. You know the big salt in the wound was the guy that was supposed to DJ was 100 yards at another wedding. There were so many more things to say about it that did not go as planned. I know I would have been happier with a rented Bluetooth speaker and a Spotify playlist. With a wedding, there is no "do over" and no "rewind." We can't replay and do it different. And if you want to risk it to hopefully make sure this guy gets his schedule right, then good luck to ya.

My husband and i were very specific about not wanting the "used car salesman" type of DJ. We met Josh, and knew instantly things were going to be perfect. He really listened to our wants and needs when we met at the venue, and had some great ideas that we hadn't thought of. His suggestion for the colored uplighting was perfect! I was a bit hesitant at first - I didn't want it to feel "prom-like". But that day, and in the photos, I could not have asked for anything better!! He did the perfect number of lights, in exactly the right spots. It was a bit of highlighting, and nicely understated. Josh provided the photo booth we used. We knew we wanted one, and he was able to include it for the event. On top of alllllll the fun photos of people wandering around with the props on, he also provided a "guest book" of photos and writing (yearbook style) from our guests. He actually gave it to us as we were leaving the reception. It was wonderful to have that through the honeymoon, and following weeks. (Our professional photos took a bit to receive, and this was a wonderful momento to have with us.) He was very patient with my specific music lists and tastes. Including during dinner....i had decided I wanted dinner to be specifically Frank Sinatra style while dinner was happening. He was very sweet, patient, and played exactly the perfect music!! All Josh's announcements, and music timing, we utterly perfect. We had a small wedding (27 people) ranging in age from 12-72. The dance floor was full the entire night. I would recommend him again, and again, and again, and again.....and again! As another highlight, almost a year later we still have people commenting on how wonderful, and refreshing, the DJ was. As the mother of the bride I asked if he could play a specific song, he replied "I play what I play" with a rude attitude. Several others (including the mother of the groom) requested specific songs which he refused. There was definitely lulls on the dance floor that could have been avoided. His performance represented the only negative in otherwise a beautiful event. There was other issues with him as well that were unpleasant. I would not recommend him for any event.

He was so patient with me when I was busy with work and that, plus his very affordable price (1k for my wedding) was why we decided to book with him. Russ told us that he would be our DJ and he sent us the suggested order of events. One thing I wish I had clarified with him more is that we had songs that were important to us that didn't get played because guest requests were taking priority, but this was a communication gap on my part. I do wish there was one or two more slow songs so I could dance more with my new husband, but it was still a great party. Russ certainly kept the party going and guests enjoyed the music and dancing. Overall it was a wonderful event.
