Beautiful library in a gorgeous location! Good selection of books in the main library. Great little room where they hold various events and speakers for small-ish but mighty crowds. I attended a Ca State Park Ranger talk about finding wellness in nature at Mt Tam, which was very helpful! Also, there is a fantastic used bookstore where you can score some great second hand books for very low prices. I think I got about 4 or 5 books for under $10 total. My local Corte Madera branch is being remodeled. Although I like the Mill Valley branch which is close by, parking is challenging around there, so I decided to request a book through Link Plus for pick up at the Belvedere Tiburon library since it has a large parking lot. It was my first time at this branch and I was immediately impressed by the modern appearance, bright natural light with the many large windows, high ceilings, and overall vast size of the library. The staff who helped me with my Link Plus request was courteous and efficient. I enjoyed a walk by the water after visiting the library. I look forward to this being my local branch for the summer! read more

This library is well designed for work, study, research and/or just plain reading. The children's library is spacious, quiet, well stocked with picture and chapter books and the teens have a similarly dedicated space as well. There are small group work spaces for reservation, a lovely community art gallery space for breaks, a community room for events and speakers and a maker lab all under one roof. If you are in need of a tool, check the Library of Things first if you don't want to invest in a purchase. Staff are so helpful and appear to genuinely enjoy their work and working with the public. Public libraries should be open to all, and today we learned this is not the case at this library. My daughter and her nanny turned up to the 10:30 am storytime this morning. It's listed as 0-18 months so my daughter is too old but there are limited places to go in Marin on a rainy day. There were a bunch of other kids 2-3 years old and mine was singled out (she's tall, so she looks older than she is) and asked to leave. The only kid. She was so upset that she peed in her pants. After calling the library to ask for some clarification, I was met with vitriol from the Children's librarian. Instead she expressed outrage that I would try to bring my daughter who is over the age limit, accused me of taking away from the experience of the younger kids, and then hung up on me. I am beyond upset for my child and the state of this library. read more

The town of Tiburon has a library, the Belvedere Tiburon Library. It is a state of the art facility. You may be wondering why a non Tiburian like myself is writing a review. Well I happen to be in town walking part of the Old Rail Trail. The trail passes along the library and is a perfect place for a restroom break. The building was dedicated in 1997 from Fred Zelinsky family's donated land. Mr. Zelinsky was a local real estate developer. The library sits on the site of the 1890s landfills for the rail yards. Keeping with the theme of Tiburon's railyard history, the architecture of the building is reminiscent of the 19th century rail yard and building with its high pitched ceiling and beautiful wood beams and rafters. The back windows has views of the marsh and hills of St Hilary's. Besides the typical full compliments of a community library, they also have a bookstore, collaborative work space for learning workshops called the MakersSpace, and an art gallery. The library is small but mighty. The bookstore sells previously owned and retired library books. Staff was pleasant and welcoming. Makers space is a collaborative work area that serves as a space to conduct learning and design workshops in state of art AV equipped rooms. The lobby and hallway areas are used to display art by local artists. In front of the library are outdoor tables. I sat out there eating my sandwich I bought from the grocery store a block away. In the back of the library is Zelinsky Park that is alongside the marsh and Old Rail Trail. read more

The grounds outside the library are a great place to drink a hot cup of tea and it is not necessary to go to the library for too much when you have a cell phone you can download books to read when convenient. read more

This is a wonderful library! I'm updating my previous review from 2015. The library has been redesigned and updated. It's a wonderful place to find what you need with friendly staff to assist if needed. The tables fill up fast, at times, especially in the afternoon. It kind of surprised me that the teens are not in the new and improved teen section. The larger meeting room is fantastic for free events or lectures. Thanks for creating a great space. read more

So, I really don't know why someone hasn't reviewed this Library before. Trust me folks, sleezy bars do have their place, but a great library is hard to find. This is one. It's small, but with all the attributes of a big one. Although it is small, it is well run with great resources and a very professional staff. They are open 7 days a week. Ever the habitué of libraries, I freely confess! In no particular order, I will soon be the very eager beaver tourist of ATL, PNH, SGN, ANC and HKG. Had to hit the 917 nonfiction (travel) section after some afternoon sun to do myself a favor, and get better acquainted with some itineraries. Great place to do it.. great sections and decent selection from which to while away a few hours. was heavily used today. Prefer the nice sun room with outlets on the floor, outfitted with bench seating and chairs. Enjoyed perusing the local authors glass shelfcase section, as well as new books. In a good library I can blissfully lose myself for a couple of hours walking the stacks, sampling novels, biographies, travel books, cookbooks, CDs, and DVDs. This library is a good one. Just driving out towards it, down the long, beautiful Tiburon peninsula, past Blackie's Pasture and the sparkling bay puts me in the a zen state. Most of the best libraries seem to be located in areas of great affluence. This library is the best that Marin County has to offer and * surprise * just happens to be in one of the wealthiest of Marin neighborhoods. Still, they welcome all and a library card can be obtained no matter where you live. Physical highlights of this library are excellent natural lighting, a fireplace, easy free parking, and many little alcoves in which to make yourself comfortable. Additionally, they have a great assortment of PCs with internet access, and a fantastic selection of CDs, DVDs, and magazines which can be checked out at no charge. They even have Ipads and Kindles that you can test out for a few hours. And books, of course... a huge selection of new fiction and non-fiction as well as those which are downloadable audio e-books. Someday, I suspect all the libraries will be gone and what a sad day that will be. Before that happens, this would be a great library to spend some time at. Anyone with a card can take advantage of their ridiculously liberal free lending policy (e.g. 50 books, 10 CDs, 10 DVDs) and walk out of here laden with enough materials to entertain themselves for weeks to come. read more

Love this library! Five Gold Stars! Staff is very accommodating. Three stars = And, I, too avoid the after school kids who run rampant. When I spoke to the kind librarians about the really rude, really loud, kids running around the library, I was told parents complained - and that staff was not allowed to guide /chastise/ speak to the little heathens. Note: Over-due Book fines are higher here than most Marin libraries. Ironic! read more

Since I graduated and started working in the Marin county, I've been actively looking for a nice library to spend times reading/studying. I'm not expecting a resourceful academic library like the one i had in university, I just need some quiet and friendly environment to help me concentrate. The Tiburon library looks nice, with plenty of parking spaces (unlike other Marin libraries) However, this library in very noisy! People (both visitors and staffs) talk so loudly as if they are in a restaurant. It was so disturbing that i cannot concentrate on reading anymore. I don't know if it is usually quiet and just happen to be noisy the day i went. The experience was not very pleasant. The library is small, but i still think it would be a good idea to separate a quiet reading area so people can read without being disturbed by other visitors. As for me, I'm not sure if i will come back. read more

Tonight was pizza and board games for everyone! Great staff working the library friendly, caring, and helpful. The food provided free of snacks, drinks, pizza, and dessert was great! The game selection was broad and interesting. Lots and lots of fun games, classics and new ones. Would highly recommend great community event. :) read more

Loudest library ever! Great resources and the best staff ever. Really. Great DVD selection. Fantastic CD collection as well as kid's collection. Nice place to visit and check out material, but terrible place to study or read. I visit the Bel-Tib library regularly and it is always the same. I fault the inconsiderate people responsible for the behaviors. The staff, they are too nice to shut anyone down so I don't blame them. No one, I mean NO ONE, speaks in a library voice. At least once every visit, you can count on hearing kids screaming their heads off somewhere in the library. Many of their parents seem to have no clue regarding courteous behavior. If you do find a quiet corner, rest assured that as each school day draws to a close, a professional tutor will show up and start meeting their clients right next to you. There seem to be 2-3 tutors running their business out of the library. The courtesy issue is not just child centered. As I write this I am listening to 2 guys who have been talking in full + voice for the last hour and a half--not uncommon. I will keep using the place. I would give this library a 5 star review, but the users of the facility bring the overall experience down to a 3. Best staff, and a friendly environment read more

AWESOME LIBRARY!!!!!!!!!! I spend so much time in here! It's the perfect library to study (i use ear plugs), usually quiet but can get loud with parents letting kids run around like they are at the park, has many tables with plugs to hook your computer, free Wi-Fi, clean bathrooms, a lot of parking (3hours, now being enforced!) The staff here is really helpful and nice. They have a pretty good collection of books, the DVD collection is AMAZING! they get many of the new released movies! many CDs, they get pretty much every single magazine. They have iPads, Nooks, Kindles and probably some other devices for people to use while in the library. They have also many pcs with internet access for people to use (must have library card) and print stations as well as copy machines! The kid's library is amazing! great collection of books. Nice to go on rainy days, they have toys and kids can be entertained for an hour or so. Story Time with Alicia is very nice, she is super sweet and welcoming! I love my library!! And support it. Best staff ever. So courteous and helpful. I'm there constantly checking out the newest arrivals, and I never, ever pay for video rental because they have such a wonderful DVD collection. They also have a doggie tie-up and fresh water outside, so I stop by on walks with my pooch. read more

My favorite library, and my favorite spot to end a walk with the dogs; there's a water bowl outside for them and for me, a warm fireplace inside--priceless on a rainy day! Can anyone, please anyone, do anything about the level of noise here? The staff is noisy and speak with a loud voice, the children are noisy. I came back giving the library another chance. It is terrible. So sad that they won't do anything about it and be respectful toward the people that come here to read and conduct research and be able to concentrate while doing so. read more
