Highly unethical company. I signed on, paid $4k+ and one call I realized that the platform does not balance anything in your accounting software so if you ever leave you have to pay someone to go migrate everything and balance your accounting software like Freshbooks, or Quickbooks. Elaine with Senior management tells me that no refunds will be given but I am welcome to forfeit my money. I want to reiterate no work was done on my account this is all in a 20 day span of signing. Now I have to get my lawyer involved, I lost out on a solid bookeeper I was about to hire - they have caused so much stress and damages to a small business - NEVER USE THEM JUST MOVE ON. I have had the WORST experience with Bench Tax Services. I had bookkeeping services with them since 2022 and that was decent. Then I signed up for their tax advising in 2024 and tax prep for my business and that's when everything went down hill fast. I had people not join our scheduled calls for our monthly reviews. There was NO Tax advising at all even though I paid for it. I have rotated through probably over 5 Bench tax preparers giving them all my paperwork and IRS payment stubs and they calculated things as if I needed to still make these payments (which I already Paid the IRS). They flied an extension which I didn't want to do, but I had no choice. They kept laying off their employees constantly. They have no protocol with passing your info and papers to the next person who is working on your books and taxes so you have to repeat yourself OVER and OVER again. As a business owner and CEO, I do not have the time to keep doing this. It is also hard to find a phone number and connect with a manger. Which I eventually did, but it took many calls and meeting with them to issue me a slight refund for all the inconvenience and fraudulent business they conducted. I have cancelled my subscription with them ending in October 30th and the 2 mangers were aware of this plus my bookkeeper. The managers said I'm set to stop my subscription on Oct. 30th (I hired another CPA outside of bench) so my service will be done at that time. All was confirmed. Then the icing on the cake was, I just saw my credit card was just charged on Oct 31st for $4068 which was not approved or ever the plan as I NEVER approved to continue working with them. They said they will reverse the charge. I'm SO beyond frustrated with Bench. Do not use their services as they have the worst customer service, they lie and a fraudulent business. read more

Bench is the worst accounting company I've ever worked with. They were the cheapest and now I see why. Your books will be late. You will not get the service you were promised. They are quick to bill you but incredibly slow to respond to the many mistakes they'll make on your books. Their book keeper turnover rate is off of the charts so expect to work with a new accountant every month. You'll also have to re-explain the same recurring categorizations each time as well. Bench is cheap but the time you'll lose is so much more expensive than any mone you'll save by working with them. read more

Complete crap. They didn't complete my books so had to file for an extension for 2023 tax year, this year is looking to be the same. They went dark all of a sudden, leaving their clients AND employees at their mercy. Acquired by Eployer.com, then doubled rates for their sh*t service. DON'T DO IT. read more

OMG started with them because they were associated with Gusto our payroll service. Thought makes sense easy peasy. I hold Gust responsible for this and we now are losing business because, as of May 2025 we still do not have our K1 for our business. There is no way to talk to anyone except on their personal site online. Had a phone meeting with them tomorrow and guess what? Tonight they cancelled my meeting to answer the question of why they didn't provide our k1. They are impossible to contact and no way to get them to do anything that you need. So angry and frustrated. Would give them a negative 10 stars if i could. read more

If I could give negative 1000 stars I would. DO NOT FOR ANY REASON USE THIS COMPANY. They completely f***Ed us out of $4500. We paid the year in advance for bookkeeping for our business and to file business and personal taxes. We had to do more bookkeeping ourselves than in any previous year. Then at the end of the year they filed bankruptcy, sold the company, kept our money, wouldn't release our books and didn't file any taxes for us. Then the company that bought them tried to extort us for 2 grand more to complete the services we already paid for. There is a special place in HELL for the people who run companies like this. I am in the process of requesting a refund, I have had 2 meetings so far where a person just read off a bunch of random words. Then one lady gave me tax advice - but wasn't a tax person. Then she said she would schedule an appointment with a book keeper, which turned out to be another on boarding person like herself. That person said he would schedule me with my book keeper - turned out to be a tax advisor - who missed the meeting! They have done no work for me so far, they keep asking for documents which they previously said I didn't need. They now can't send out 1099s, only advise me on how to do it. Worst off! This isn't even a few weeks into using the service! Over $7000 for this horrible service, stay away small business owners. This is not for you! read more

They charged me $3,100 for catchup bookkeeping before doing any work, and I was able to find the same service for free with another company online. Also, I was able to sign up 2 businesses with a firm for the price of 1 business with them. They charged my card $10k+ of dollars with no work performed. How is that even legal? I asked within a couple days from my initial phone conversation to be removed from my contract. That was early November. They took $10,000 from me with no services completed. Bad policy. read more

I would not trust these people with your money. They started drafting money out of our account and we noticed differences in amounts that should be billed so we questioned it and couldn't get any straight awnsers so we told them to cancel their services we would not be using them any longer. For 4 months they kept taking money form our account and we ended up having to try to go to our bank to get it to stop even though we sent them a cancellation notice. Come to find out they went bankrupt and if I want to get my money refunded to me I have to get in line and try to get my money back from he Bankruptcy group. These guys have gone out and created a new business for Bench but I would not trust them as they stole over $2800 from a small business and all they did was kick the can down the road until they had to file the bankruptcy and their employees are fully complicit in this scam and fraud. read more

Terrible experience! They scammed me of over $11,400.00 promising to rectify accounting services for the prior two years for tax amendment services. Not only did they get everything wrong, mixing my personal accounts with my business accounts, but they failed to enter all the expenses that I have provided documentation for, clearly the only reason I hired them. Yhey only give you access to a couple of reports, and although you can stare at their mistakes, as the owner of the account one cannot make any corrections. In order to talk to their customer service, one must request an appointment, which is usually available a week later. Working with Bench for six months did not get me anywhere, disrupted my business schedule, wasted my money, and fried my nerves to say the least. Definitely NOT TRUSTWORTHY! read more
