Even after reading the negative reviews, I decided to give Bend Pest Control the benefit of the doubt.. We had an issue with mice in our kitchen, so I immediately contacted an exterminator. I spoke to Ryan on the phone and he said he would call after 12:30 the following day to set up a walk-through for an estimate. The next day, he shows up at my door without calling at 11:45am. While I was slightly annoyed, I decided to let this go. He looked around the house, made some notes, reviewed holes and gave me an estimate. After discussing it with my landlady and husband, I contacted him later that evening to let him know we were interested, but got a machine. I left a message and never heard back. I called again the next day, he answered and replied "Oh yeah, I got your message..." I was curious then why he would not have contacted me after getting my message. Even with a couple red flags, I decided to book the appointment. He agreed to show up at 3:30pm, my husband left work early to be home when he arrived. 4:00 comes, he's still not there. 4:30, still no sign. I called his main number, no answer. I eventually reached him on his cell phone, he informed me he was busy with another engagement and didn't even seem to notice the fact that he was NOT at my house... When asked why he did not show up, he said "Ooh. Sorry about that. I told the other guy to show up. Guess he pulled a no-show. How's tomorrow morning?" His aloof attitude immediately threw me off. It was apparent this was normal and he really didn't seem to care about our inconvenience. I told him it was an inconvenience, we couldn't be home tomorrow as we both work full time and MEANWHILE, I have mice living in my house... After giving him a moment to correct the situation, all he said was he'd reschedule and basically shrugged it off. I told him I would find another company and hung up. IN THE END, I found this company to be completely unprofessional, frustrating and a waste of my time. As a warning, I DO NOT recommend giving Bend Pest Control the benefit of the doubt. After three days of horsing around with this company, I am back at square one and have to find a completely new company while the mice roam free in my kitchen. Late on a Friday we heard a squirrel running around in our vaulted ceiling. Saturday we heard what sounded like serious chewing, which really got our attention. I had used Bend Pest control a few years back at another house, so called them on Saturday. I didn't expect an answer, but wanted to leave a message so we could address this on Monday. We did get a call back Monday morning from Keith. Said he was on a job not too far away and could stop by. I told him I had to leave by 3:30--he said no problem, be there well before then. He eventually showed up around 6:00, just as I was returning. No explanation or even acknowledgement of being so late. I have a live trap that I've used on other occasions, so decided to stick it up on the roof on Saturday just to see what would happen. No luck on the weekend, but after I talked to Keith on Monday, I caught the little guy. Since I didn't know if this was the actual culprit, I still wanted Keith to come out and assess our situation and at least find and patch any possible entry points. Years earlier I had found one point under the eaves that I thought may be a potential entry point. At that time I shoved some wire netting into the area as a make-shift barrier. It is still there, so decided on Saturday prior to talking to Keith to do another inspection for other possible entry points. I found a place that was very suspect and would be something I wanted to address. When Keith finally arrived on Monday, I told him that I had caught a squirrel and had at least two places I would like him to protect. He said he could do that. I had left my ladder out for easy access to the roof. I asked him if he would like to go up and inspect the roof and let me show him where I had concerns. He said no, and instead walked around the house inspecting for other problems. He didn't find anything, but threw out some problems I might be having. He seemed more interested in finding new business than solving the problem at hand. From the ground I did show him the two places that needed sealed. In the end, he gave me a quote to patch up two holes. $170. Seemed a little high, but not knowing what was involved and wanting it done professionally, I agreed. Mistake! He said he would be there Tuesday about the same time--6:00. But early afternoon, just prior to our leaving for an appointment, we hear hammering on the roof. As I was leaving, I saw Keith in his truck. I asked if he was going to patch the other hole. "Already done." Really?? In fifteen minutes? For $170?? Starting to feel ripped off, but I had agreed so gave him the check. But that's not why I'm writing this review. The next day I went up on the roof to inspect, Oh my God! Where I had jammed in some wire, he merely secured it with nails. He used MY material and it looked just as make shift. And some of the nails were hammered into the roof And I wanted this done professionally? As I was walking around to check the other repair, I saw another patch--not in the place I had indicated, and a place I had determined not to be a problem. He at least used his own material, but still hammered nails into the roof. I nervously went around to check out where I had wanted the second repair. Nothing! So for my $170, I had my own screening nailed down, screening installed where it wasn't necessary, and my main concern unaddressed. Given the quality of the work, I didn't want him doing any further work on my house. I'll address it next spring and do my own "un-professional" job. read more

Bend Pest control came out within a couple hours of calling. Unfortunately it seemed the contractor was more interested in selling us stuff we didn't need. He did a quick walk around the house. When asked what he found, he would not be specific. He didn't take the time to go into the attic or the crawl space below the home. He wrote up a bid for $800+ of stuff he said we needed to do to our home to keep pests out. Made claims we had holes in our home. I would say there are better choices out there. read more

We called these guys to eliminate some wasps for us. While they did treat on nest they did not look for others. Their "guarantee" is only for the nest they treated - not for eliminating the bees. When I called them to report the bees were still there they said that it was our responsibility to locate the nests. These guys are rude, unprofessional and I recommend not using that. Bend Pest Control is probably the worst pest control company i've ever used. To start off, hey came out 2 hours late from original appt. time. Nice enough salesperson but "something" a bit off about him and the whole appraisal. Did the big spiel about sealing up the house to keep mice, bats and birds out. I'm still honestly not sure the house is all sealed or not. I realize Oregon is very "green" but I have spiders in my house. I told him that. He never put anything inside the house to combat insects, spiders, silverfish, etc. inside. Then yesterday I spotted my first scorpion on the back patio. I am terrified of scorpions so I called Bend Pest to see if they could come out and put out something around the perimeter of my house to deter those awful insects as I realize that is about all that can be done with scorpions. I got the rudest person on the phone I've ever spoken to since I've been in Oregon . He humiliated me and offended me by all but calling me an idiot because I ASKED him about the differences of extermination in Oregon vs. how it is done in Texas--because we have SOO many insects down there. He told me that putting chemicals in your home should never ever be done, that it was the wrong way to exterminate--which is totally opposite from how it HAS to be done in the South where cock roaches are as big as birds! It's the only thing that will kill them. He told me to get some "sticky paper" to put down to catch the spiders in my house. And so what am I paying them to do ????? Today, I came across THREE more spiders and a silverfish. I will not do business with them anymore and will find a different company who can EXTERMINATE my home the proper way.
