When I mentioned I was going here, friends reacted in two ways. Some had forgotten it existed & the others said it was Old School. Whilst the latter is true, it seems that it is hardly off the average curry hunters map. The place was rammed....
It certainly is a seventies throwback in terms of look. Orange paint? Check. Blue bathroom suite? Check. But so what? For food against cost, this must be the main player in town. TW ain't cheap, an average Indian meal is £25 per head: This one came in at £18 each. Bargain.
The food was very good. Two of us opted for Jalfraizi and they were Bad Boys. Blimey, they were HOT!! Okra, mushroom bhajia and mataar paneer were spicy but fresh & we scoffed lots of cheese as well as garlic & cheese naan.
Whilst initially appearing surly (Saturday night, who can blame 'em?) the staff soon defrosted & were very pleasant.
This isn't a classic 'first date' restaurant. It's for friends, families, take away's & value for money.
Good stuff. Be sure to book ahead on busy nights............ read more
