So perhaps I should have researched this one better, it is certainly not a place to go for an intimate dinner for two. Really more of a family place (we were sharing a table with one) or a place to take a surly pre-teen with whom you have nothing to talk about. Nice architecture, good service, the floor show of the chef cooking for you is less special each time you see other chefs do exactly the same routine, with the same jokes, same tricks and same clattering implements at other tables - which you *will* see before yours. The main problem I have with having you food cooked in-front of you, is that it removes the kitchen magic. I can see him put a supermarket steak (yes, it wasn't great) on the grill and slice it up, I can see him over-cooking the chicken and pouring some pre-made teriyaki sauce over (meh, I can do that), and I already saw the onion volcano on the table across from us with three kids. When I am paying this much for a meal, I really want it to be about the food not the floor routine, very disappointing.

Homesick brought me to Benihana in London !!! This restaurant has my memory of SoCal Beverly Hills and New York City. I have to see that beating heart fired rice and onion rings volcano !!!!!!! Very elegant ambience. Fresh ingredients. Chefs entertain you with their tricks. Full bar. In love with black sugar plums wine. I had lobster and steak as entree. Very juicy and tasty. People defiantly love to come here for their birthday celebrations. I had to hear and clap for strangers' birthdays songs more than 3 times at my dinner. At the end of the dinner, you will not only feel full but also like a birthday girl !!!!!

The place is quite big ... Nicely done. A bit easy to miss it because it's all underground, just a very small door. Good sushi, quite fresh. The food came a bit slow though. Still, overall a decent restaurant for Japanese food.

What a great experience. I should give the rating 5 stars but a few small things stopped that from being so. CONS - Firstly, we had to wait close to an hour before our chef arrived. - Secondly, there's a 12.5% discretionary charge added to the bill. I didn't mind paying it but I wasn't given the choice if I could pay for it or not. - the restaurant is a little bit pricey than it should be. - not really a con but be advised it's mostly for groups/family meals PROS - the staff and everyone in the room sang happy birthday to my partner - the chef we had was hilarious - the food was cooked to our liking - the scenery was beautiful Portion wise, I felt full. The technique used to make it so was that we was fed in small amounts bit by bit, especially with the sides, salad and soup before the main. If all was served at the same time I may have felt more hungry. I would go again, but next time I would go with family.

A red flower, found in the neighbourhood streets gave the inspiration for the restaurant's name - Benihana -, which in Japanese means red flower. Benihana's food preparations immediately sets it apart from other restaurants, as it has a non conventional kitchen. Instead Chefs prepare and cook entrees at a table. The dishes are prepared right at the table "teppan-yaki" style (Teppan meaning "steel grill" and yaki meaning "broiled") with dazzling effects by highly trained chefs. As when the restaurant concept was launched near Broadway in New York, the showmanship of the chefs was extremely important. You will find yourself placed on a communal table. After placing your order the chef positions the diverse ingredients on the grill and all guests are able to watch with amazement as vegetable, meat and shrimps get sliced and diced, and flipped into the air. One of the mushrooms ended up on my lap but this is all part of the special effect. The timing in cooking is critical. The different dished have to be ready to serve onto the guests' plates simultaneously. This Asian place not only satisfies your appetite but also gives you a spectacular experience.

The food is over priced, but the level of service is very high. The craftsmanship in preparing and cooking the food. FANTASTIC!

Walking into the trendy, cool, clean atmosphere was so welcoming. The selection of drinks and little bento boxes was vast. I appreciate the options for small bites so I could get a variety or choose larger bento boxes if I feel like a meal. Out of all the little Grab N Go's, this is by far my favorite. There are little hooks under the tables to attach jackets, bags, handbags, or whatever you please so you can sit with your burdens between your legs instead of spread out in everyone's way. That is an ingenuous idea that needs to be more available and explained to more folks, to be mindful to others, allowing more room and comfort while they enjoy their dining experience.
