I live in the area and have some how never made it to Dairy... I think the trendy Sydney cafe is now a standard and I think a lot of places fall short. They think they can charge $20 for smashed avo and a poorly poached egg and I'm not here for that, lol. I'm really looking for something a little more special than what I can easily whip up at home on my own. Anyhow, I was really really pleased with my brekkie at Dairy! I had a delicious mushroom and goat cheese omelette and a really creamy soy latte. The whole thing really floated my boat, haha. And the guys were super nice too. A bit of research told me that a trip to Bondi wouldn't be complete without a stop at Bennett St Dairy, and while I loved the quaint atmosphere and the stellar service, I wasn't blown away by their fried chicken sandwich. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? The service and atmosphere at Bennett St. Dairy couldn't be better. Sure, you won't have the views of some of the nearby Bondi hot spots, but you'll be comfortable, happy, and your made to order dish will come out in no time. Star . Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Bennett St. Dairy is sneakily expensive, and I'll admit that I cocked an eyebrow upon seeing what was a decent sized fried chicken sandwich coming to a total of $19.50 AUD, which even at what is a very advantageous rate of exchange equates to $13.50 USD. That's not unreasonable, but don't expect a quick cheap bite. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? At time of writing I'm living full time in Los Angeles, and the city is having a bit of a fried chicken awakening with a new spot seemingly opening up in town every month of so. I've tried many of them, and maybe it's that variety and quality that makes me a stickler for judging chicken sandwiches. With that in mind, it might be easier to understand why I really latched onto the somewhat undersized chicken filet relative to the bun, or the fact that the cut of chicken itself had some of the less desirable bits tucked away under the fried breading. Either way, this was in my mind a good, but not entirely great, chicken sandwich. Single Star. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? Given how many great restaurants are within a stone's throw of Bondi, I can't say I'd be over the moon to prioritize a return to Bennett St. Dairy. No Star. read more

The food portions are decent and the sausages are solid but that is where the positives end for me. The thing is...Sydney has many fantastic cafe/brunch places and this place has no unique or likable feature (the food is very very standard and typical). They are trying hard to promote their cookies (basically trying to promote pseudo levain bakery style cookies) but I just don't find their cookies particularly special or unique other than relying on tried and true flavor combinations that you can find (done better) at a Mrs Fields... but i guess you can say you went to "Bennett St Dairy" for your cookie and your usual and that has a cache ???. I ordered a chili scrambled egg with ricotta...and it tasted solid. Nothing I would come back for. The service is questionable and depends on who you interact with (mixture of pleasant and below average). Two waitresses reeked of the salty post high school mean girls vibe. Found it kinda sad, particularly because the context of this establishment is already bland. Many great places in Sydney and Bondi so no go for me. But if you are a local and want very standard food and Bondi prices....why not? read more

Bennett St Dairy is the Dairy Queen of Oz! This place is pretty dang good! I came in for brekkie, and I'm glad I did! I got some toast, eggs and bacon here, and a flat white coffee. They did a great job getting the food out quickly, and deliciously. The eggs were fried, with a little bit of spice, and served with zatar, a Mediterranean spice blend that's more Lebanese than Australian. The coffee was dressed up with the fern leaf lookin' design in the froth, which is always a nice touch! The setting is great- a central area where they cook up the food and sling the coffee, with seating around the perimeter of the restaurant, which spills out on to the street for some outdoor seating options. The service was friendly and welcoming. The prices were quite fair, especially considering the quality of the food! They offered large jugs of water that you can take back to your table. This helped quench my thirst from haulin' across town to get to the beach! Parking is street side- with parking meters. read more

Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day, I love waking up late on Saturday with a great cup of coffee and eating a delicious breakfast. Luckily a few weeks ago we moved out to Bondi and right down the street from this gem! We now are regulars, grabbing a coffee a few times a week before heading to work and coming in every Saturday for our "usual" The roasted mushrooms, polenta, bacon and poached egg is amazing, unique and outstanding combination! The staff are extremely friendly and even say hi as we walk by each day. There isn't a lot of seating but I love that! The food comes out quick and fresh, the staff clear the tables quickly but don't push you out the door when you are done. We have also had the bagel with smoked salmon, and as expected it was done really well with high quality salmon and a great cream cheese. The "window items" always get me in trouble, croissants and Nutella muffins are too die for! Already looking forward to heading back next weekend! read more

Just got out of the surf at Tamarama (Tama) on a sunny Sunday morning. Having had my dose of vitamin D for the day, I was on the search for Brunch and a decent coffee. I drove up Bondi Rd on the hunt for a parking spot, i ended up finding a spot near Waverley oval. I decided to take the path of least resistance, down the hill toward Bondi Beach. I hadn't been walking too far, when I came across Bennett St Dairy. I noticed the coffee machine and the cold drip, as well as a light vibrant looking interior. I cast my eye over the menu and noticed a few different items that I would be interested in trying. There was an array of healthy breakfast options available, as well as a lunch menu consisting of burgers, sandwiches and and salads. As to be expected in Bondi, a young British waitress showed me to my seat, the mood was friendly and relaxed. I was provided with a menu and much needed water. On this day, I tooo the healthy option; although I was tempted by the burgers on offer. I ordered the breakfast bowl which consited of kale, avo, quinoa, sprouts, baby peas, a poached egg, topped with roasted almonds and vinaigrette. I figured while taking the healthy option, why not have the whole fresh coconut to replenish after the surf. The breakfast bowl was tasty full of fresh ingredients and suprisingly, was enough to fulfil my appetite. However, it was the coffee machine and the cold drip that caught my attention and got me in to the cafe. Unforunately the cold drip was not available. As I was on my way home, I ordered a latte to go. It was a decent coffee with the coffee beans roasted by Pablo and Rusty. The coffee was a well made, not too weak or overly hot. Only just found this place last week, all I can say is wow. Long black coffee has plenty of flavour, it's smooth and you can taste like fruity undertones. Defiantly got that right. I had a breakfast bruschetta, not what I expected. Out came slice of bread with roasted spiced tomato, 2 eggs, 3 mushroom heads, 2 slices of halloumi cheese, half a avo and home made beans cooked with chorizo!!
