The food and service were good and the atmosphere really enjoyable. We went with friends and enjoyed the pasta dishes and desert. The wine we had was good. Looks like they are trying to bring lots of music shows and have a BBQ night as well. read more

**Disappointing visit, and the service made it worse** We visited Bent Ridge on Father's Day hoping for a relaxed family afternoon, and left genuinely frustrated, mostly because of how we were treated. We ordered the Grilled Watermelon Salad ($21.50). The menu describes it as grilled watermelon, fresh berries, red onion and mint on a bed of arugula. What arrived was essentially a bowl of arugula and spinach with red onion and a sprinkle of feta, and almost no watermelon to speak of. When we politely pointed this out, the second server who took the salad back was lovely about it and said she'd check with the kitchen. That's where it went downhill. She returned with the primary server, who was dismissive from the start. We were told they could add watermelon on the side, but only as an upcharge. We declined. We were then told we'd be charged for the original salad regardless. Fine, we said, charge us, but we don't need it back. Despite that, the salad reappeared at the table with a tiny cup of watermelon, and the response was a flat "well, it's already here." When we asked whether this is really what a watermelon salad is meant to be, since we've had this dish at plenty of other restaurants and it has never been arugula with a few cubes of watermelon hidden in it, the answer was that the watermelon is "just like the berries, a little topping." At that point we cleared our own plates onto the side table for them to collect. What needs to be said plainly is this: we were a group of 12 with a bill of around $700. Paying was never the issue, and a $21 salad is no big deal. But the audacity of the server to assume we were doing all this just to haggle a salad out of them was ridiculous. We can't tell a kitchen how to build their salad, and tastes vary. But the watermelon is named first in the dish, it arrived in nowhere near the quantity advertised, and being upsold to get the main ingredient is hard to defend. Speaking to paying customers that way is simply not acceptable. And of course, she did remember to add the 18% gratuity for her tremendous service. To top it off, we'd brought a cake to celebrate Father's Day and asked if we could cut it. We were told no outside food allowed, full stop. The Annapolis Valley has no shortage of excellent wineries where a family can actually feel welcome and enjoy the afternoon. We won't be returning to this one. read more

One of the great things about living in Nova Scotia is all the hidden gems tucked away just off the beaten track. Bent Ridge is one such. Across the valley from the Martock ski hills, it's a small winery/brewery, which also caters for all manner of events, including weddings. We visited on a mostly sunny, warmish August Friday at the start of the Labour Day weekend. Essentially it's a restaurant and a very pleasant one at that. There is a smallish bar/galley area inside, with a covered, all weather and all year round solarium attached, a small patio and lawn beyond that. They offer beer/cider and wine samplers which I'd strongly recommend. I went for the four reds they produce, and thoroughly enjoyed them all, especially the 1763 Unhinged. The menu is quite extensive, and we went for a pizza each, Bent Ridge Belly for me, Fig and Onion for the wife. Both were delicious and of generous size. I tried their ginger infused rough cider, which was excellent and quite novel. I was also treated to a gratis glass of the Maple Porter. The restaurant affords pleasant views across the valley and is nicely appointed, with a variety of seating and can cater for fairly large groups. Service was a delight and the eventual bill of almost exactly $100 not onerous by today's standards. Will definitely have to visit again. And this time I'll take a growler and buy some of their craft beer. read more

Visiting the area and I've always wanted to try this place. Went on a Friday night because of the live music. The place is quite nice. Sat in the solarium. Ordered drinks and was told that dinner would take at least 30 mins. No problem. We received the drinks and our bruschetta appetizer and was immediately forgotten about. Th bruschetta was great. Goat cheese and balsamic were perfect on the crispy warm bread. Finally had to YELL at our waiter to remove the dirty plates and refill our wine glasses. One friend ordered the natchos. Honestly, these were the most pathetic plate of natchos I've ever seen. No salsa! Wth? Natchos with no salsa?! He ate a few then sadly set them aside. The watermelon salad was actually an arugula salad with watermelon. I wanted the fig and carmelized onion pizza but sadly it was sold out. Ordered the margharita pizza. Came with a very tasty sauce on a cardboard crust. In their defence, I'm from Toronto. We have killer good pizza all over Toronto. They need to visit Badiali's to find out what real pizza crust should taste like. My daughter ordered the pepperoni pizza and unfortunately said the pepperoni tasted like cut up hotdogs. Good gawd. I did enjoy the ambiance and the music but the food left a lot to be desired. read more

Service: At peak hours, when the restaurant was slammed, ONE server was all they had. totally insufficient. Food: Flavors were bizarre at best. the pizza came out undercooked, and the cheese was strange. Za'atar spice has no place on a pizza! The aglio e olio pasta was incredibly spicy! Ambience: Similar to an Olive Garden. Like faux Tuscany Wines: Two red wines were available as we were told the third "was t very good this time of year". Wines were mediocre. read more

Stopped for lunch/appetizers recently. The warm Italian dip was quite good, the only complaint would be that there wasn't enough. The nachos were just okay, not the worst I have had but also no where near the best. The fig & caramelized onion pizza also was just okay. Needs more flavour. Had the beer flight and surprisingly the blueberry sour was the best of the four, the others I wouldn't have again. The others had wine flights and they didn't like any of the selections. Service was slow but they were busy. We did notice other tables that arrived after us got served quicker. Not a lot of follow up to check on us. Very nice location and the view is quite nice. Would go back sometime to try the pasta but there are better places for wine and beer fairly close by. read more

When we went a waitress at Bent Ridge was wearing an "InfoWars" face mask. For those who don't know, Infowars is an American alt-right conspiracy theory group that is closely linked to neo-nazism and white supremacy. My partner went to confront one of the owners to ask if he was aware of what the waitress' mask meant, and he said that he was not but that he didn't care either. The waitress in question was supposed to be serving us but (we think) overheard us talking about her mask and instead ignored our table while serving other tables (next to us) that were seated after us instead. We were there for 20-25 minutes and had not even had our drink orders taken or been spoken to, and there were only 4 other tables total. The owner was not apologetic whatsoever. My partner asked the waitress to her face if she knew what the mask represented and she walked right past him and completely ignored him. I will not spend money at an establishment where the owner condones this behaviour from their employee. To me this sends a message that the establishment and its owners are okay with white supremacy and alt-right conspiracy theorists. Not being the least bit apologetic or interested when a customer confronts an owner with concerns that involve human-rights (especially in today's political climate) puts the nails in the coffin for me. I am from ~10 minutes away from this place and there is NO room for that behaviour or belief system here. Updated to add, in response to owners response: It's great that you put that policy in place after the fact, but that's not proactive enough. Your employees should not be wearing logos and website URLs when you, the owner, doesn't know what they mean. That's just willful ignorance. Not a single time did we get an apology. And you think that it's okay that this waitress ignored our table completely and ignored my partner to his face when he asked her a question? Logo aside, we got no service aside from water the hostess gave us for 20-25 minutes. And you were NOT busy, there were 4 tables total. read more

We had a wonderful time at this winery and restaurant set in the most beautiful place. The waitress was fun , kind and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our flights of wines. The appetizers and charcuterie were delicious and we loved our woodfired pizza highly recommend. read more

We had a delicious meal awesome place. Staff were charming waitress friendly and attentive owner took time to talk to us charming man. The Metropolitan Nash car outside adds character waitress knew its age and very enthusiastic talking about its arrival. We both had pizza which was delicious I had a glass of their Porter which was very rich and my wife had a glass of Rose very dry she liked it. I would highly recommend especially as eating outside is preferable at this time in the cool weather open fire would be a cosy addition. We will be back likely in the fall apple season read more

We have had MANY amazing meals here. Staff is friendly and pleasant to deal with, we've had lots of great chats with them. Food is delicious and their menu is always expanding. Wines are great and super reasonably priced. You would be hard pressed to find a more original place to go for a glass of wine or meal and you cannot beat the view ! read more

In February they were 5*- August 1* empty place, rushed us on &out in. 1/2 hour- pizza came out 1/2 cooked ( I'm from NYC- & worked in pizza places)told &showed her the doughy crust & not fully cooked, she said " that's how we make the pizzas" had her put it back in oven- but not long enough- fine- I will make it great at home I figured- oh & bathroom w/ shower is gross, looked over and yummy! A dozen or so Dead flies. I pray they regroup because in February this was an awesome place! read more

Not following Health Guidelines for re-opening after Covid 19. Very snobby owner. Said we needed a reservation but patio was empty and only 3 tables were in use while we were there. Service was unbearably slow. Food was almost inedible. They were "out" of everything on menu except for pizza. The pizza arrived cold, with burnt crusts and very few toppings for the high prices. Won't go back. read more
