When I found out this used to be a church that was converted into a brewing company, I was so excited to check it out. Our visit was short since we already had lunch reservations elsewhere, but I'm really glad we stopped by. As soon as you walk in, you definitely still get the feeling of being inside a church, with so many original features and details preserved. We even sat near the "altar," which made the experience even more unique and enjoyable. The ambiance felt almost holy, in the best and funniest way possible. I loved how they transformed the space into a brewery and restaurant while still keeping its character intact. Our server was incredibly nice and attentive. We ordered the chicken tostadas with jalapeño crema, and they were absolutely delicious. The beer was great as well! I ordered a sour beer that I really enjoyed, although unfortunately I can't remember the name of it. read more

This will be our last visit and last review for this place. Have been coming here for a few years and it's going down, down, downhill year over year. The service is usually a major miss here but we opted for the patio on a beautiful sunny day. The server didn't even offer to bring water when she took our order but the drinks arrived fairly quickly, as did the food. The fish and chips is actually an embarrassment to the entire Atlantic region. Soggy, crusty and nearly black from the deep fryer. You will get a tiny piece that looks like it had heart disease before it ended up on your plate. I've never eaten fish where I have a leftover cup of tartar sauce, but this was it. The fries looked old and like someone grabbed them off a plate of leftovers. While this is definitely the best patio in the Valley, it is not worth eating here. Settle for drinks and expect poor service. If you want proper pub food, head over to the Library Pub up the road. read more

We were in the area and I had read that this was one of the more popular eateries in town. One of the tips said to get there early, as there is usually a line that forms at the door before they open. They weren't kidding! As soon as we stepped inside, I loved the interior. Basically it's a brew pub located inside of an old church. Very cool! The restaurant itself is quite spacious, as they have two sections to sit inside. They also have an adjacent beer market and outdoor patio seating. For food, they have a menu that is typical of pub fare. I ordered the fish & chips (1 piece of haddock) for $16, as the hostess said it was one of the more popular dishes. I've had my fair share of fish & chips while in Canada, and I'd have to say that this ranks as one of the better ones. The haddock tasted very fresh and it's a nice, thick piece. The batter was on the lighter side, which I appreciated. The tartar sauce was yummy and the fries were legit, but the slaw was more of an Asian slaw as opposed to a coleslaw, and I didn't care for that. Hubby ordered the Porter Bacon & Cheddar Burger and enjoyed it. We both split a cup of their Matriarch's Chowder for $9, and it came with a house made mini pretzel. Both were delish! They have a nice variety of beers, and I chose the 15 oz "Married to the Sea" for $6.96, which is a delicious German Porter. It had strong notes of coffee, which I liked. Hubby got an IPA and said it was strong and bitter, just the way he likes it. Service was fast and friendly. Although it was crowded, they were able to get a lot of people in and out of the restaurant in a timely manner. I'd highly recommend this fun brew pub if you happen to be in Annapolis! read more

Food was good, but service was sub-par. The server didn't write down my order (as most, sadly, don't these days). It was simple. A seafood chowder, a garden salad and a diet coke. She even repeated it to me, in order to make sure she got it correct. I waited about 20 minutes and then another person brought me the food. But, instead of a seafood chowder, he brought me the soup of the day. No problem, mistakes happen. I then waited another ten minutes for my server to come back. But, she was nowhere in sight. Just when I needed her the most. I had to get someone else to go and get her. When she arrived, she didn't even apologize for the error. She just stared at me and asked what did I want her to do?!?! I said I would like my seafood chowder and not the soup of the day. She said fine and then I had to wait another 20 minutes for the chowder to finally arrive. Mistakes do happen. I didn't have any issues with that, but for the server to not offer a simple apology?!?! The food was good though. On a side note, there was a table next to me where the people had to get the manager over to explain to him that there were actual flies in the food?!? I'm not talking about flies in the restaurant (of which there were many) but right inside the food!!. The manager responded by saying, what do you want me to do about the flies sir? Unbelievable. Sanctuary Sauce Chicken Wings starter set the bar high but the fish & chips did not disappoint - this is fine dining meets comfort food meets amazing service - delivered last evening by JJ who made us feel right at home with no pressure to leave even though we were the second last people on the patio. Great building with amazing history! Loved the vibe, loved the ambiance! Fun bar that we happened to arrive for trivia night. Fun and entertaining. The beer was great as was the Tidal Bay. We enjoyed the pretzels and crispy broccoli but absolutely loved the cauliflower tacos. A great find on our visit to wolfville and would return again anytime we are in town. The bartenders were super friendly and made us feel like a part of a community evening. read more

One of a kind brewery. Built on the foundation of an old anglican church and maintaining alot of the character of the old church, including the stained glass windows, Only been open for under a year, the guys at Church brewing is doing something great here! Here you can find different kinds of beers that caters to anyones beer palate. With clever names like "Congregation", "Sanctuary", and even "eight bells". Whatever you order you will definitely enjoy. Pair that with their eclectic menu like Polenta fries, which I had, and it was phenomenal. If you dont know what polenta is, it is similar to grits, made with cornmeal and this one made into fries and drizzled with their cilantro and jalapeno crema and a little bit of feta cheese on top. Great appetizer. They also have butter chicken, mushroom risotto, and other dishes inspired by different areas of the world. So you can satisfy your food cravings with pretty much anything you order. The staff are very welcoming and they are more than happy to tell you about their beers, the inspiration behind their work. The ambiance is great, there are lots of seating. Check them out. This place is great! A converted church, a name like "brewing company" makes you think they brew their own beer. Well I didn't see any brews of their own, but they sure do have everyone else's local brews! Propeller, Garrison, Lake City, they have them all (except Big Spruce, which was a tad disappointing). That being said, the beers they have are all tremendous, especially their sours! Staff was friendly and attentive, and that's for both indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of seating, which is good because this place was very popular, even on a rainy Monday night. For food, we had some pretzels, plus fish tacos and chicken wings. The pretzels were okay, though they resembled bread knots more than pretzels. The cheese and mustard sauces were quite good. The fish tacos were quite good as well, with some great flavor. For me though, the chicken wings were amazing! I lost count of how many they gave me, but it was a decent number, and I order wings all the time, all over the place. I went with the hot sauce, which was absolutely delicious! Spicy and sweet, not overly hot but it builds. The wings are small, but they compensate by giving so many of them. I honestly wanted to lick the paper when i was done. The blue cheese was also fairly thin, but I really liked this...allowed for good coverage when wanted without completely erasing the flavor of the hot sauce. Can't recommend them enough. Give this place a shot! Go for the converted church atmosphere, stay for some hot wings and sour beer! read more

What a find! Fantastic service. Great food and drink in a wonderful atmosphere. This is a place where everything is done thoughtfully and well. The decor, menu, layout -- it all speaks to a brilliant plan, carefully, and lovingly executed. My only quibble would be the plastic chairs which can make larger guests uneasy. Food was not up to an acceptable standard. When you leave the restaurant and head to the nearest gas station for a coke and a bag of chips something is wrong. Fish and chips weren't fresh. Fish has a rubbery texture. Turkey club was ordered without the mayo cranberry however it was quite clear it had been applied to the sandwich and scraped off. Would not recommend. read more

In addition to a super solid beer line up, really tasty food (omg the wings were recommended by our server and they were so so so good!), and an incredibly beautiful space, I have to both thank Church Brewing and applaud them for their accomodation and patience. We were two young families, with three 1 year olds, just keen to get out, enjoy a drink and visit together someplace special. They got us a huge table, secured high chairs for us which was great. even better was simply the patience our server Jenna gave to us around the mess our littles were making. it was excessive for sure - half eaten crackers, pieces of tomato, etc ... but she seems genuinely thrilled that we had a great afternoon out and was gracious about the mess being simple to deal with. Being a young family, it can be humbling to go out expecting some of the accommodations you need to allow yourself a sense of free spirited fun, and Church Brewing and their staff - Jenna especially - helped us to enjoy some of that. I had the Church Burger which was overcooked to the consistency of ash. It had no taste or any juices. Each bite had to be followed by gulps of water lest I start coughing and choking. There was no sign of the "house made cheese" on the burger. Avoid at all costs. read more

While the overall experience of our 6 person party was positive, I unfortunately ordered the one vegan gluten free entree called the Glory Bowl. Compared to my other family members who ordered meat entrees, my serving size was tiny, barely an appetizer size. I also paid the extra $4 to have tofu added and there were a total of 4 small pieces. The food tasted great. I had some thing called a glory bowl. The service was quite good. The ambiance is wonderful. Love to go there and hear live music sometime. However I'm pretty sure that glory Bell gave me food poisoning. That's only happened to me once before in my life appx 25 years ago. As I said the glory bowl tasted fine but it absolutely did not agree with my system whatever weird thing happen to get in the bowl before arriving at the table. Heard so much about this place and always wanted to eat here and finally had the chance today. We'll, what a complete waste of money and a complete disappointment. We ordered 2 Sangria to start and it was a nice refreshing drink. As an appetizer we ordered the broccoli which was edible but not great. It had a very weird taste but after skipping lunch we managed to eat it. For our main we both ordered the Thai Peanut Noodle Bowl. It came with vermicelli and not rice noodles as noted in the menu and the sauce had no flavour of peanut whatsoever. It was not edible. I passed the message along to their server but she didn't really seem to care and apologized but still charged us full price for everything. The bill with tip was $97.00. The server could of made things right and had the manager come speak with us or even a small credit would of helped to ease the pain of paying $100 for a complete garbage meal. Let's just say we'll stick to our old faithful Paddy's Pub on our next visit! We won't be back! read more

Since we first went to The Church after it opened, it has gone downhill with food quality and quantity. The kitchen seems to be overwhelmed. Food takes a long time to get to your table and frequently arrives cold and dried out as if it has sat around. My battered fish was lukewarm and dried out. My husband's chicken was cold and tough. Portions were much smaller than the same entrees we'd ordered on other visits. I feel bad for this place because it used to be better. Servers were all lovely. read more

It is a great building and wonderful patio (though I can see some things potentially offending Christians, especially the use of the cross in their name), but the portion sizes are smaller than one expects for the prices being charged. read more

The place was beautiful and clean. That's about all it has going for it. The beers are not good and it took over 40 minutes to get one. My partner ordered the chicken sandwich. Great use of the building, on site brewing (look through the rear windows), with 7 of their brews on offer. You have the option of a flight of four, out of which there is a great tasting porter, and their Belgian ale offering is very 'clean' and hits the spot. Food wise, the curried Masala offering was very tasty, with a decent sized portion provided. Worth a visit. read more
