Diamonds and soccer fields stay busy with rec league teams, with the occasional cross country meet, including twice in fall. These races have been our reason to visit the past several years, and we've witnessed the positive evolution of the space in that time. A large playground area will keep the younger participants happy, with colorful barriers surrounding to increase the safety and fun factors. Watch out for flying round projectiles from the games surrounding on all sides though. Grab time with the orange roundball on outdoor courts or in the Pickens County Community Center adjacent, then cool off in the outdoor pool in warm seasons. Run/walk/jog on the 1-2 miles of winding paths throughout the park, and follow the exercise signs along the way for a little cross-training. Take a thoughtful break at the Peace Pole monument courtesy of the Rotary Club of Jasper, then move on to percussion with the musical feature nearby. Plenty of parking at the community center and along the back of the park, and on race weekends at the school across the street. Don't miss the infamous tunnel on your way across the highway, taking care since it's part of the 5K course. I'll be back at least once more for another late-season race, and hopefully after that.

But if your kids love being challenged and love the outdoors, this is where you want them. My son is going to camp here for the seventh summer in a row and there is no place he would rather be. Our daughter loved being a camper here so much the five summers that she came here that she is spending this summer as a counselor. The kids stay busy doing things like tubing on Carter Lake, rafting, swimming, horseback riding in addition to playing amazing tribal games. But there is also a focus on spending time with God and how important that is for us. The counselors and staff are simply amazing. They are fun and full of energy and love and compassion. I could not recommend this camp more highly. It is truly magnificent.

All the horses had beautiful horns and painted hair (like pastel chalk that does not hurt them). All animals are under the most wonderful care and we are given instructions on how to approach them and observe them. Amongst many things we saw a baby chick being hatched, baby bunnies, adult bunnies, donkeys, sheep's, horses, pigs, pony's, goats, doves, chickens, roosters, chicks and of course UNICORNS! Staff was out of this world helpful!! So sweet and kind. It was a hot day and they let my little nephew play in the clean water they had to cool off! We even got a tractor ride! They have a beautiful tree swing and so many cute picture spots! Pack a picnic (but be careful not to throw any food on the ground the animals each have specific diets and we wouldn't want them to eat anything that could hurt their stomachs). Also there is hand sanitizer but I would suggest bringing some soap and water if you want to wash your hands. Just ask for the best place to do that! They have a pretty Montessori style here. You're given help in approaching the animals and donkeys sheep and goats are sitting all around and you can walk around and pet them. There are brushes set aside for you to brush them too!! The more attention specific animals like the bigger bunnies were handled with the wonderful caregivers! Allowing people to hold the more socialized animals even! Also the unicorns were beautiful with flower leis and gorgeous horns! Absolutely a must to do for any birthday, field trip, or just a way to get kids used to animals in a wonderfully comfortable setting.

They were great with the kids and did a fantastic job entertaining and educating the kids on the farm animals. Speaking of farm animals, they had a variety! They had horses, donkeys, bunnies (including big ones), goats, pigs, chickens, and so much more. The party was about two hours and the team at The Art Barn kept everyone busy. The activities were interactive. We got to pet and brush the farm animals, ride a horse, paint, go on a hayride and explore the farm. The party area is under a big tree, so it's cool and shaded. There were 6 picnic tables which was more than enough for our party. Two Porta Potties are available and they were cleaned prior to the start of the party. They were the cleanest porta potties I have ever used! They also had a hand cleaning station equipped with wipes and hand sanitizer. The Art Barn is a great place for parties, field trips, etc! It's a great way to make new friends & the staff are very involved. Last but definitely not least is the wave pool & slides. The wave pool is sooo fun, the waves get so high! I would recommend the younger kids might need to have a parent with them because the waves get really high & hard! The slide is super fun & smooth so it doesn't hurt, but at the end you will more than likely have a wedgy! The view is amazing & so pretty! At night you can see the stars perfectly clearly & they are beautiful! This was a very nice place.

There was only one person working when we went and the place filled up fast! But she was so sweet and helped everyone fast and efficiently. There was an incident with one of the horses but she handled it very well and didn't ruin the fun for anyone. By far one of the best petting farms I've ever been to!
