Near the end of camp, she fell off a horse (only hurt her pride), and the counselors were so helpful and concerned for her to literally "get back on the horse" as soon as possible. That little tumble ended up being the pivotal positive experience in her entire summer! Although she attended camp reluctantly, she is now enthusiastic about returning this summer as a camper in leadership training (CILT).

It's super expensive ($600+) so I registered for the sample day (one day instead of the whole week) for $60. We are trying out the camp to see if it's worth the $$$. Cons - They don't provide lunch (for that much $$?) - The hours are 9-3 (technically that's not a full day when your a working mom) Pro - Check in was quick. They show up and check everyone in between 8:45 - 9am. - It's outdoors and they let the kids choose the activity - It appears friendly and loving Would I pay crazy dollars to go here? No, but I have always wondered what it was like. It's very similar to the Camp Potowatami at East Avenue, with a lake.

They love the camp spirit with songs, skits, games, and crafts. The counselors and staff are friendly, kind, professional, and enthusiastic. Drop-off is through the carpool line, so I pull up, and a counselor opens the car door, greets the kids, and off they go, and off I go. Pick-up in the afternoons requires meeting them at their group, showing my photo ID, and initialing a checkout sheet before they're released to me. The projects that my daughter has made in years past have been so impressive. The theme was outdoors one year, and she made a backpack out of supplies like duct tape and PVC pipe. It was awesome! I recommend Galileo camps to all active, creative kids who appreciate a challenge and enjoy a full-packed day.

I found Adventure Kids at last minute after he refused to finish a session at another camp. They made room for him and after the first morning I texted and asked how he was doing. he had already been accepted into a group and was climbing rocks and exploring wind caves on Mount Diablo. he came home energetic and wanting to share his day and his friends he made . That was 3 summers ago and he has spent every week of his summers since at Adventure Kids. he's one of the seasoned pros now at camp and will be an unofficial junior counselor. he will be aging out of camps after this summer and bittersweet to move on but the memories , friends and growth as a young man he has experienced have been invaluable . Our son spent two wonderful years here before transitioning to public elementary school, and now our daughter is thriving after a year in the toddler program (she started at 18 months). What makes this preschool stand out is its truly play-based philosophy and the emphasis on outdoor time. The kids spend so much time exploring the beautiful property--rain or shine--and it's clear how much they learn through play and nature. And I so appreciate how they come home happy, fulfilled, and absolutely exhausted every day! The teachers are absolutely incredible. They are warm, attentive, and deeply invested in the kids' growth and well-being. Our son grew in every way during his time here--physically, emotionally, socially--and we watched his confidence blossom. But more than anything, we're grateful for the community. Through this school, we've made lifelong friendships with other families, and our kids have formed strong, joyful bonds with their peers. It's a place where children and parents alike feel connected, supported, and engaged. We couldn't imagine a better place for our kids to begin their educational journey.

It was a 3 week camp, 4 hours a day. In that short time, they produced a kids play...The Jungle Book...from start to finish, complete with singing, dancing, costumes and sets. It was amazing what they were able to accomplish. And the quality of that production was impressive...much higher than any of the other school plays or park district programs we have seen. Each day, the kids took "classes" in acting, singing, and dancing, but with plenty of time for play, games, and camp type activities. Renee, Rena, and Amy are very good with the kids. And the amount of care, creativity, and love that they put into their business really shows. The difference it made in our daughter, after just 3 weeks was amazing. She made new friends that she wants to keep in touch with. She is a little less shy than she used to be. And she sings and dances a lot more, even when she knows people are watching. I think it will be the highlight of her summer. And I think Lamorinda Theatre Academy's program will be a very good influence on her growth, poise, and confidence, and will be a lot of fun for her!
