My son is enjoying the camp tremendously. The staff is friendly and sweet. Izmir has been both sweet and welcoming towards me and my son. I'm thankful to find this camp on short notice during covid. I hope to return next Summer as well. Great location, plenty of parking spaces! My son has also been excited about playing all kinds of sports at this camp.

First, I don't recommend this for children entering K or younger. Our youngest is four (entering…read moreTK), but we kept her out this year because there are too many big kids and not enough supervision and structure. Basically, this place is a free-for-all for elementary and younger middle school students. Also, the bathrooms. Hit or miss. First day, one had ants and another one had poop. Last day, everything was clean and well-stocked. I realize that that's up to the janitorial staff of the host school and not S&K, but that is an area for improvement. With that said, Jenbert Jr 1 (6.5 years, entering 1st grade) had so much fun here. On her first day she played soccer, read in the library, made a bracelet, played interactive games with the counselors, went down the slip & slide, and played on the playground. She came back with an equally big smile on her face after the second day talking about finding Chucky the chicken, all the games she played, and pieing volunteers in the face. Jenbert Jr 1 is usually a fussy eater but she liked a lot of the meals here. She enjoyed the rest of her time here and can't wait to come back next year. As a parent, I love the flexibility, variety of activities (both the core and rotating), and the fact that nut-free lunch and snacks are provided. There are also veg and GF options. I also like that you only pay for what you use. We are looking forward to returning in 2027!

My kid and her friend registered for the last week of summer camp. They arrived at 9 a.m., but…read moreunfortunately, many things weren't open until 10:30 a.m. Consequently, they had limited options for activities. Even the open activities were completely full. When things finally opened, there were extremely long lines, and they were unable to participate in any activities except for a 20-minute sewing session before being excused for lunch. They were repeatedly told to return an hour later on many activities, so they tried the library, which was closed, and then searched for athletic equipment like balls or anything, only finding none that weren't already being played with. In essence, the kids were left with no options and were forced to sit around and observed other kids doing the same, which is not what we expected from what was advertised. I understand that the camp has a high number of kids the last week of summer, but it should not compromise their overall experience. I had to pick them up early because they literally had nothing to do. I am a working mom and was really hoping this camp would have worked out for them for the next day. Therefore, I requested a full refund but nobody ever got back to me about it. Super disappointing and a fair warning for others who are looking to enroll in this summer camp in the future.

I don't normally do things like reviewing stuff online, but the sweet young woman I talked to last week while picking up my nephew left such a wonderful impression on me that I felt the need to share! I've been in this building a few times before, but during my last visit the atmosphere felt different, I don't really know a better way to say it other than it felt more inviting. I think it was the music they were playing, very peaceful! She came out of the back room and greeted me very kindly, she was such a pleasant person to talk with! I wish I could remember her name of the top of my head, but I'm pretty bad with names (and after thinking it over I don't think I would say her name here even if I remembered it, not my place to share her personal things with the internet). However, she had a beautiful smile and short hair, I won't go any further into describing her since I don't think it would be right to blast her appearance online in a overly descriptive way. We talked for a little while as my nephew was finishing his camp, and apparently she's the one who implemented the new microwave. Very clever! She mentioned a few more projects she was working on for the shop that I can't remember, but what I do remember was I thought they were fantastic improvements while I was hearing them!! Something about a snack cabinet I think? I might be wrong, so don't bet to much on my memory. I can't say enough about how sweet and wonderful she was to talk with, even if it was only for a few minutes. The part my nephew liked best was "The Prize Boxes", or atleast thats what he told me its called. From what I could tell she would let the kids pick a prize to take home from a little box of their choice. I thought it was neat! My nephew seems to like her quite a bit, and I can see why! I like her much 10000x better than the previous employees I remember talking with in the past!

Unlike most summer camps that focus on indoors activities (outdoor time is just the playground),…read moreAvid4 is very different. The kids have focused activities every day that include biking, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding as well as other activities like yoga. Older kids get to go climbing (how cool is that!). For most major activities the kids get safely transported in vans to nearby parks and reservoirs. I initially thought that my kid would get a limited experience (e.g. mountain biking in the parking lot, kayaking in a pool, etc). I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they actually provide even the littlest adventurers the full experience! This means that after the initial lessons in a flat area like a parking lot where beginners learn to bike and get comfortable, and more advanced kids to ride safely and learn new tricks, they actually get to go mountain biking on trails. Kayaking and paddle boarding is done at a local park or reservoirs. Hiking is done at a local park where others also go hiking. I'm not sure why I was expecting anything different (the experience but not the setting), but they actually go all in to truly give the kids the full outdoor adventure. If you're nervous for your little one or unsure whether she or he will like it, I suggest giving it a try for just a week and see how it goes. Every kid is different. I signed up my incoming 1st grader for just one week as I wasn't sure how he'd like it. At the end of it, he begged me to sign him up for more weeks, but unfortunately it was their last one. What makes this experience that much more special is that the counselors are young, energetic, encouraging and very motivating. They never push kids to do anything that they do not want to, but they try to motivate them to try at least once. They also work with different kids levels and skills to maintain a very safe environment. The equipment is top notch and in pretty much new condition (Specialized bikes, kayaks, paddle boards, floatation vests, etc.). The cherry on top is that on the last week they actually sell off most of the items they used at a great discount. My little guy attended the Campbell location last time as the Los Gatos location is new this season. He waited a whole year to be able to go again, and this time his brother will also join him. He was so excited after last year's experience that even his little brother is pumped up and looking forward to it. I highly recommend this camp.

My son actually said at…read morethe end that he was sad it was over, that it was the best summer camp he has ever attended, and next year he wants to do their camp every single week. The kids are kept busy with a different activity each day: biking, hiking, paddle boarding, climbing and outdoor IQ. I think what makes the difference is the staff. They are constantly interacting with the kids, even during the game at the end when they are waiting to be picked up. They help the kids get to know each other, rather than leaving them to their own devices. My son didn't know anybody in the camp to begin with, but by the middle of the week he was exchanging contacts to play fortnite later in the day. Well worth every penny.
