I'm surprised that there are no review of this place posted. so I am going to write one! Berea Bookstore is not only a place for students to get textbooks. It isn't only a place to get Berea College apparel and souvenirs, that is popular with the tourists. It actually is a place with a little bit of everything, from fiction and non-fiction books from the region and beyond and stationary, to small travel items and... food. Foods sold in Berea Bookstore is actually my concentration right now as I explore the local foods. Berea Bookstore sells a number of items from the Berea College Farm - all organically grown: various greens, like lettuce and spinach, various meats, eggs and also strawberries, when they are in season. The prices are actually very reasonable and sometimes even lower than the chain shops. So the Berea College Bookstore is a great place to go to in case you need a small travel item, like lint removers or toiletries, some alternative organic foods, or even to get some travelling reading! Funny, that I place it last, but any bookstore can offer you a book to read, but what other bookstore can offer you healthy meat for a good price? read more

While not only offering all the textbooks needed for Berea College students the Berea College Bookstore also provides a wonderful selection of books for those seeking to read for pleasure. There is an entire section dedicated to books written by Berea College authors and other local authors. In addition, there is a vast amount of books containing information on Appalachia. Therefore, if you are looking to learn more about the Appalachian region this is a great place to find a book that provides the information you are looking for. A huge section is set apart for Appalachian books ranging from ecotourism in Appalachia to books with scenic pictures of the region. The store also provides many other genres of books such as currently popular books, cook books, and gift books. Once you find a book you are interested in you don't need to feel rushed to may a decision on purchasing right away either. There are many comfortable lounge chairs you can relax on while checking out any of these books. read more

This cute storefront on the campus square near Boone Tavern sells a variety of handcrafted things as well as Berea college-themed merchandise, making it an ideal visit for people wishing to support local artisans or show school spirit. The store has a black and white theme and is well lit. It's quiet and cool that makes an ideal place to read or relax. The store offers shirts, car stickers, stuffed animals, binders, camelbacks. Some things were unexpected - skateboards, brooms, cutting boards and blankets all with Berea College Logo on them. It also has a smoothie bar that provides delicious drinks with fresh, locally produced ingredients. So, if you need to refuel after a day of biking or hiking, this is the place to go. The music, goods layout, and lighting create a lovely and welcoming ambiance that makes you want to remain longer and converse with their pleasant personnel. It's a 5/5 for me. Great place to gear up with Berea College spirit. Either if you are looking for Appalachian Literature or Berea College Souvenirs, Berea College Bookstore is the place to go. As you come in you will be welcomed by a student from the college, you will see the special offerings in fruits/food directly picked from the College's farm. I bought my host family a combo that consisted of a hat, a t-shirt and beanie from the college, they loved it! and it was not bad on my wallet either. They also have different things for students such as books, headphones, notebooks, pencils etc. This saves us time as we cannot go to Wal Mart in between classes. I always like to go and see what is new clothes they have. read more

Walking around on a hot summer day in Berea and looking for a fun place to cool down? Here's a hint: Berea College Bookstore. The Bookstore is a perfect refreshing atmosphere (with excellent air conditioning) to experience while walking through main street. Despite its name, this establishment on Berea's main street is not limited to items for students. Tourists, parents, alumni, etc. will all find something worthwhile in this store related to the college and the town of Berea as well. The Bookstore is loaded with all the Berea gear you can imagine (some made by Berea students). You're bound to find something unique and interesting at Berea College Bookstore. The Berea College Bookstore is a great place to buy books, college paraphernalia, and snack whenever your hungry. I always find myself going there to buy a snack throughout the day. The atmosphere is always welcoming and it symbolizes the college spirit. It seems each time I go in there the store is always selling new items. This is useful and adds to the variety within the store. When I walk in here I notice there are many tourists who have shopped there and purchase college items. It is great to see this and the bookstore has continued to attract these tourists through advertisements in the windows and by providing great service that is student based. Every Berea College student has stepped foot into Berea College bookstore, but if you are not a student then this store may be a little less appealing to you. There is a a catching eye to those looking for Berea souvenirs. They have very nice hoodies and t-shirts, key chains, hats and water bottles and even coffee mugs and teddy bears. Also if you love reading Appalachian stories, Berea College bookstore offers a great selection of books on that subject. You can also find food from local producers and it is well worth the price! sometimes the staff is a bit slow to ring up your order if they aren't at the counter, but they are very friendly and helpful when you need them. read more

AAAAHAAAH! I have found it, a place of paradise when it comes to one of the destinations that houses Berea College students' art work. Here one can find beautiful pieces of art that were hand made by some Berea College students who took Technology 111 during a semester. For example, there are smooth, wood crafted card holds and wall decorations with Berea College logos carved out of them. This place also houses Berea College produce, meat, and other farmers market items to uplift local farm owners produce. I encourage tourists and locals to visit this book store to discover that there is a story behind every book's page, piece of art, and person in this book store. read more

Just right off of Main Street just a college book store you would not expect much but take a step inside. Of course it has the normal school tee shirts and backpacks, but does the normal book store offer fresh grown food from the college's farm. I think is an amazing aspect of our college and it's community working together. Not only is there fresh product but you also have an arts and crafts section to where if you are just looking for different sorts of things to use while you are painting or sculpting you might find very interesting. Even though it may just be a book store don't cross it off of you shopping list. read more

The book store is a good place to stop by and get more than books and school supplies. There is local food and groceries mostly from the college farms, Berea college branded apparel and merchandise and a section with woood craft products produced by students from technology classes-the proceeds from the student craft work are donated to student run charities/service organizations on Berea College campus. The wood craft is of good quality and includes business card flips, pen box and hot pan stands. read more

this place is part of Berea College where they sell textbook and some selections from New york times bestseller. they also sell some organic vegetables and honey and other souvenirs that representing Berea College. one day I bought a book and left my debit card there and two college cashier emailed me and called me. they were so kind. this book store is right beside Boone Tavern Hotel. I recommend this place for anyone to visit. read more

Coming through Berea, this is a place to find some Mountaineer pride. They have clothes decorated in Berea colors. This is a place for students to get resources for class. They also have amazing books that were written by locals, and also popular non-local written books. This is a place where students are found getting ready for the school year and getting knick knacks as a memory. read more

Other than merchandise, the shoppe had a chalkboard outside announcing smoothies for sale that intrigued me. It seems this is the only store in the area with anything a Berea College student would want to find- from notebooks or laptop covers to hoodies or hydro flasks. Really Great Service! This is a useful store to get souvenirs such as drinking cups to Berea College clothing. They also include random knick nacks such as fresh produce from the Berea College Farm and even natural make up. The bookstore also has items that the hotel does not have like tums or ibuprofen, which is something that people might want when not feeling too great. read more
