We have had Berger Sanitation for many years as our trash and recycling provider. Never have we had a complaint about their service that they provide flawlessly from year to year. Our pickup day is Monday, if that day is a holiday than pickup falls to Tuesday, recycling is everyother week. That plan and simple and easy to remember. They don't have multiple trucks running up and down our street like some of the other trash and recycling haulers covering our Township. What we like best is that they are a local Company in our county, not one headquartered near Philadelphia or Vermont, keeping emplyment, management and employees local, supporting and sustaining our local economy. We used waste management prior to Berger, we had issues with noisy drivers during the middle of the night, I switched to Berger and I feel that they have the most respectful drivers on the road, I would highly recommend them for your disposal company. read more

I have been a loyal customer of Berger Sanitation's since 2008. Granted, it wasn't a willing partnership, since they held a monopoly on my area until very recently, but that's 14 years. Now, my community has a choice of suppliers. Rather than welcome the chance to compete and demonstrate superior service, price, and offerings than its competitors, Berger has instead chosen to trap their clients into predatory contracts, because they know they pale in comparison in every category now offered by their rival. Berger is so hellbent on maintaining a grip on the customers they are losing, they are allowing their ratings to positively tank as they do it. Since 2008, I have seen three price increases from Berger. I now pay $105 for service. For that payment, I only get recycling twice a month. For that payment, I have to pay an extra (last time I checked) $95 for large item pick up. Yet, make that payment--on time--I have, for all these years. I've been a model client, the kind most businesses would hate to lose. The kind that a business that believes they stand above the competition would work to woo. Enter Whitetail Disposal. Whitetail offers weekly recycling, free large item pick up, and allows clients an extra personal receptacle for both trash and for recycle to be set alongside the company toters each week...all for a price of $86.25 per quarter. Which would you choose? According to Berger's three-year contract which silently auto-renews each year thereafter, "This Agreement may be terminated by either party at the end of the initial three (3) year period or any one (1) year renewal period upon written notice, sent by certified mail, return receipt requested, no less than ninety (90) days prior to the end of that period." Yet one need only to look at their reviews to see that they end contracts without giving their own 90-day certified mail notice, because that's the only way people have been able to get out of their indentured servitude to this company. In fact, my neighbor across the street had their toters confiscated with zero notice--certified or otherwise--and believed their receptacles had been stolen! Again, I've been a customer since 2008, when the original contract was signed. When Berger announced their second price increase, I was sent a new contract (remember, at that time, I had no other option for trash service) that locked me in for three more years. That three years ended 5-2-21. It was silently auto-renewed at that time, and Berger stayed silent, until I wanted to make the move to the all-around better deal of Whitetail. They are holding me to their predatory contract until May 2023 (I sent them the certified letter). For their part, Whitetail has been EXREMELY accommodating, pushing my start date back after Berger stomped around with their contract. Of course, maybe Whitetail should be thanking Berger, because what they've done is insured this 14 year customer will NEVER return to Berger in this lifetime. Bottom line, monopolies are illegal for a reason. Predatory contracts are illegal for a reason. Competition and choice are wonderful things...unless you're Berger Sanitation. Won't cancel my contract. Won't pick up their cans. Bad business practices. Don't use.

Don't do it. They have very poor customer service. They are quick to call and leave notes is your can is not exactly positioned in a way their guy has to get out of the truck. This would be great if they were the low cost supplier. read more

Pack of thieves with a deceptive contract that locks you in!!!! Found a better trash collection company and tried to cancel my service. I was notified that after signing their deceptive and crooked contract 4 years prior I am stuck with a new contract every year with no notice from them that the contract end is nearing and with no signature from me approving it! And of course they threaten you with a collection agency for no payment if you cancel payment to them. This is as close to a criminal organization that extorts payments from its customers as you can get! Their claim is that you should read a contract before you sign....yes don't sign any contract from these pack of thieves! read more

Wanted to end my contract. Refused to pick up their trash cans. They like to threaten with their lawyer but when I attempted to go through lawyer with an email I got no response. Not even sure the lawyer exist. After refusing to take my garbage cans for a year finally snuck into my yard like a thief in the night and took cans from side of house. They are very lucky my German Shepherd wasn't out there. Wasn't even considerate enough to notify me that they were coming. Very unprofessional. Really need to send staff to classes on professionalism. It goes a long way. Beware dealing with this business. Want you to sign a 3 year contract which is unreasonable. Chose to go to Whitetail because they were cheaper, did not require contract, picked up recycle weekly, and have been so professional and courteous. I have had Berger sanitation for the last 1.5 years and the service is unreliable and the customer service horrendous. When they miss a pickup or fail to empty my trash, they accuse me of failing to properly load my trash can or place it out front in time (neither is true). When I attempted to cancel my service due to their inconsistent pickup they began yelling on the phone and told me "if you want to get out of the contract, we'll see you in court". Their contract terms are also extremely unreasonable ("must cancel by written letter sent via certified mail with delivery confirmation and return receipt no later than 90 days prior to the end of the contract or else you are auto-renewed"). Berger charged me $104.00 and NEVER HAULED ONE OUNCE OF TRASH. I hired them on the phone but later received a "legally binding" 3 year contract in the mail. When i called to inquire why this was not mentioned on the phone call i was met with a combative and argumentative attitude that quickly escalated to SHOUTING AT ME AND OVER ME. I promptly told them to pick up their cans we would not be doing business together. Within 24 hours i had a bill in my mailbox for $104.00 slightly more than what a 3 months of service would have cost. They charged me for the first week even though they didn't deliver the trash cans till after trash day, several days after i called. Clearly their billing is faster than their service. I have been a small business owner for nearly 30 years and have dealt with very many companies both as vendors and as customers. Berger is one of the very best outfits I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. They were always reliable, never missed a pickup date even in terribly inclement weather. Their salesman, their office staff and especially their drivers were always pleasant and helpful. They never complained when my employees would overstuff the dumpster. it was never a problem to reduce the number of times they picked up during our slow season. Best of all they never gouged me by raising their rates for no reason like certain other large disposal companies do. Companies like this are entirely too rare these days. read more

They do not provide recycling bins, but their workers seem to take joy in smashing the bins/cans you purchase. I would not use them, but they are the only trash service around. Also, they are not registered with E-Verify on the USCIS website, so they may employ illegal aliens. read more
