My friend and I had the pleasure of staying here in October 2017. Everything about our time in…read moreMurren was perfect, and we owe a large part of it to our decision to stay here. The b&b is located about a 10 minute walk from the Murren train station. Additionally, there is a Coop grocery store right across the street, which was super convenient! The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable! There is a sink in the room, which is nice, and shared bathrooms outside. The bathrooms, room, and dining area were all exceptionally clean. Lastly, the view from the room is just surreal! Then there is Denise, the lovely owner of the b&b. Denise was fluent in English (originally from England) which made communications a breeze. She set up an absolutely beautiful complimentary breakfast each morning with fresh baked bread, cheese, hard boiled eggs and other pastries/fruit. She is also extremely knowledgeable regarding the area and recommended an absolutely gorgeous hike for us to do on our first day that I didn't come across in my research I did beforehand. She also recommended that we take the opportunity to hike down from the Schilthorn back to Murren, and we were so so glad we did. Overall, the b&b itself was already exceptional, but Denise really put it over the top and helped us take full advantage of the few days we spent in Murren. I can't recommend this place enough!

Yes the window also looks out on the main road in Murren (pop. 448), but with no auto traffic, who cares?!? Besides, after hiking around for a few hours at that elevation you'll sleep like a baby anyway. Lodging in Switzerland isn't cheap, but Fontana is at least reasonable, and if you play your cards right Denise has a semi-hidden jar of peanut butter to liven up your already hearty breakfast. From here you can explore the entire town in a few minutes. The bathrooms aren't en suite, and there was one woman from ... hmmm ..whom I saw on two or three occasions, in flagrante delicto. Ahhhh, the Alps!

The fives stars are for Beatrice Leonhardt for starters, the innkeeper I guess she'd be called…read more But no question this woman has a lion's heart. And because of it and the finesse with which she runs her B&B, it follows her lead. The B&B is on the 2nd and 3rd floors of their home. We had the 3rd floor - one bedroom, a bathroom and a sitting area - which is on a bridge overlooking the 2nd floor breakfast room, sitting room and computer. The ladder like stairs which get you up to the 3rd floor makes you feel like you are climbing into a tree house. The view from our bedroom was a tree top view over Zurich - it was beautiful. When you come down to the 2nd floor in the a.m., Beatrice has set out the most exquisite breakfast; I don't think I've ever seen anything quite as inviting. Delicious croissants, hearty rolls, strawberries (in June), cheese, meats, juice and coffee in a setting that makes you want to stay there all day. But this is Zurich so everyone gets going. Our 3rd floor bath has you astounded that a shower, sink and commode can fit into that space but fit they did but not if you are super sized. There is another bath and shower on the 2nd but I couldn't get to compare them as they were in use. We walked to some excellent restaurants within 5-10 minutes of the Villa and there is an actual forest you can walk through steps away. We found this out by taking a wrong turn and driving the walkway. The nicest man remembered enough English to set us straight. Parking is tight but city transport is everywhere; their yard is so beautiful I hope my pictures can convey the look. There is street construction going on everywhere in Zurich like any city and we're pretty sure we drove the wrong way more than once but no harm nor foul. There is a back patio where we visited with a woman from Adelaide, Australia. Hope you can experience Beatrice's charm and her charming B&B. It is Frau KK's favorite.

The hotel and room was very clean and housekeeping took good care of the room during our stay. We had a spa date and enjoyed this service greatly after a long day of hiking. At night time there is lots to do without leaving the hotel as their bar stays open until late and they have so many seats where one can sit and enjoy a night cap. Walking distance from the lift up to Grindewald first & within a few steps to lots of eateries!

The location is very central and everything is easily accessible. The hotel provides services of picking and dropping from the train station. They picked us up and dropped us off at the train station. Breakfast was included in our reservations and they have nice buffet style breakfast with lots of great options . The swimming pool is nice to enjoy as a family. They also have a kids play area. Loved their outdoor patio with the beautiful views. I am taking two stars off because the housekeeping never took the towels that I kept on the floor to be taken away and replaced. Instead of replacing the towels that were on the shower floor, they folded the wet towels and put them back for us to use instead of giving us new ones. Also, their hotel restaurant adlerstube - has really bad service. The blond lady is extremely rude, they kept us waiting to order for a really long time. Finally food arrived and it was really good but again no one came to check if we needed anything. Also the check never arrived , finally waiting for a good 20 minutes I went up to ask to pay. Food was good but because of the service it ruins the whole experience . The hotel needs to be mindful of this and make sure they are looking into it.
