My sophomore year I was in a room with bad heat and no insulation in a place where the snow got so bad they had to shut the college down for a few days! When my roommates boyfriend sent me emails telling me to kill myself, I reported it to my RA who told me to try and suck it up as she was leaving for Study abroad next semester. When I was rush to the hospital with what turned out to be kidney stones, campus safety first told me it was just food poisoning because they had had 3 cases that week. Never mind that the head of the French department spoke French as a THIRD Language and the heads of the theater department had the lowest ratings on Rate my Professor. I am sad that this place is clearly a commuter college, disguised to look like a traditional school.

better late then never but mercy college was worth the delayed yelp review. i went for one semester…read moreat the white plains campus and its a shame that work got in the way cause i was having a good time from interesting classes , helpful professors, class rooms that were not overcrowded and a study library that served as a my nap space when no one notice me snoozing. i couldnt ask for more as college was walking distance from my apt and tuition was really really in my price range which was important cause i was semi broke at the time. glad mercy college still has a campus in white plains and if i could go back in time i would have stayed in school and leeched off my daddy to pay the bills or been a male escort to pay for tuition.

One of my roommates goes here for school and all of her rotations are in the city so it can get expensive to commute between for weeks. She gets free meals at the Au Bon Pain at the Westchester Medical Center next door but any savings are probably balanced by the fact that she has to keep a car or pay for taxis to get to the Metro North.

They give a great tour and are excellent at selling the place…read more Past that--you're paying a boatload of money and getting very little in return besides being 30 minutes away from NYC. The business department is terrible. They rant and rave about it, but you'll soon realize 90% of the classes you take are nonsensical intro classes where you learn nothing. Do not expect to go to Iona for business and learn anything useful for a career. Now, most expensive private Colleges have premium dormitories. They have 1 building built during this century that they like to show off. The vast majority of their housing is decades old, falling apart, dirty, dingy, and dusty. It's horrendously overpriced. Far more expensive than an apartment and you lose all your rights living on campus subjected to unlawful raids/inspections. The food on campus sucks. They force you to buy a campus meal plan and for what you pay it should be far better. There's a reason they force you to buy the meal plan and it's not "to foster an on-campus community." It's a money grab plain and simple. The campus itself is tiny with very little to offer. The surrounding neighborhood is full of crime with a history of murders at the local high school right next to campus. All in all--tuition should be $10,000/year and dorms $5,000. You're splitting a tiny room 5-10 ways no apartment costs that much...it's a scam! You are paying for a bloated administration that takes exorbitant salaries and accomplishes very little. You're not paying for a high-quality private education. All you get is a piece of paper and 4 years living in a tin can. Don't waste your time or your money.
