The men pray in the front and women towards the back. Jummahs khutbas are very funny, and to the point where anyone can understand. He uses real life examples. There are quite few converts that come to the masjid mostly men. Zikr is amazing, its a full house it consists of meditating, gathering in a circle with soft drums playing and remembering Allah swt. According to the individuals I talked to because their isn't enough space and no separate wudu area for the women. This is a violation of the women's right to attend the masjid for prayer- thus earning this masjid- one star. I am severely disappointed in this masjid- as I was looking forward to attending Jummah and having another masjid I could access within a 10 minute drive of my house. The masjid offers Jummah- khutbah at 1:50- Prayer at 2pm. Also during the blessed month of Ramadan they offer Tarweeh - again both of these are limited to men only. InshaAllah- this community will expand its masjid to the women. Ameen.

I called before I went trying to figure out when Jummah prayer was so I didn't show up super early.. but low and behold.. the auto message just addressed when Ramadan might be starting because the Moon needs to be sighted visually.. and if it decided to hide on the 22nd of August.. then Ramadan starts the next day- InshaAllah. The masjid is located right off San Pablo Ave kind of across from the strip mall that has Big Lots in it. Super easy to find.. just turn on Lowell from San Pablo and the masjid should be on your right hand side. So I showed up at like 12:30ish and found the women's section of the masjid wasn't even open yet! The Khutbh didn't start until 1:20 and the actual Jummah prayer at 2pm. Some nice brothers( MashaAllah) who were already at the Masjid cooking away in the kitchens opened the door for me and I was able to get inside. Once I entered I noticed- two things.. the shoe rack and the sign saying - take your shoes off- so we can keep the new carpet clean. To the left hand side of the entrance from the parking lot is the bathroom- which I didn't have time to investigate yet- so watch for the potential update on the bathroom situation. I wandered around the masjid.. I noticed that there were classrooms for Saturday Islamic school, shoe rack and another entrance to the masjid just for women before entering the actual prayer area. The women's prayer area is a separate room with no visual at all into the main prayer hall. The only way to get information is through the speaker - that Alhumdualillah actually is working loud and clear. The prayer area has a nice rug with the prayer lines woven in and a nice built in storage unit on the far wall across from the main entrance stuffed with Qur'ans, dawah materials, prayer rugs and prayer outfits. Although why anyone would need a prayer rug with the soft high level carpet on in the prayer area is beyond me. The women's community was made up from a casual glance of a majority of Pakistani and Arab individuals. The khutbah was in English then in Arabic with announcements in between. Some of the announcements were very direct- such as stop talking during the khutbah... directed at the women and again directed at the women- children should be put to the side while praying.. so as prevent holes in the rows of women as they prayed. I think there was a level of tack and diplomacy lacking in some of these announcements- but if talking to individuals doesn't create change.. I guess a Jummah announcement might. InshaAllah I will visited again.. now that I know this Masjid exists and is located close by my house.. I can't wait for Ramadan and the iftars with the different sections of the communities.

(I won't say the masjid is trash, because it is a house of Allah). I will recall my experience below: So I decided to take a later lunch at work because I wanted to pray at a masjid. I drove to Lighthouse Mosque which is 2 minutes away from my work, but it was closed, so I decided to come here because it was the next closest masjid. I arrived at the masjid at 1:30, so I knew they had already started praying because there were a lot of cars parked, and I was trying to find parking. I see a late comer walking fast towards the masjid, so I call out and say Salam, then ask where I can park. He responds with, "There's no area for women to pray here." In my head, I'm like oh, it's one of those masjids. But I still want to pray, so I ask if it's fine if I just pray all the way in the back of the masjid, he says yeah, he doesn't think anyone will say anything. So I'm getting happy because alhamdulillah, I found a place to pray. This is a reminder that I am still in my car at this point. HE THEN SAYS, "Do you have something to cover? You can't pray in jeans. You need like an abaya." I'm so taken aback by this that I just stare at him with my mouth open in shock. He then proceeds to say salam and walk away. I was so distraught by this encounter that I drove away and went back to work. There are many things wrong with this. 1. WHO does he think he is looking at what I'm wearing from outside the car? 2. WHY is he concerned about what I'm wearing when the purpose of the masjid is to pray? 3. HOW are you living in today's time with such an extreme mentality and view on Islam? 4. WHAT if this was a new convert or someone curious about Islam who was in my shoes? You would have pushed someone away from the religion with a stupid concern like what the person is wearing 5. If this is the mindset of a community member, I don't even want to know what the board members of this masjid are like. SubhanAllah, what a disgrace. May Allah (SWT) guide us all

Brought a friend/coworker non-Muslim and she had a great time, too. Took an Uber in, wouldn't want to park in there because you'll probably get boxed in. Beautiful center and decor. Much more spacious than it appears from the outside. It's huge! Basement, ground, and upstairs areas. Don't think I was supposed to be taking photos inside, sorry. It was just so beautiful and I wanted to keep some memories. ICCNC has a strong relationship with unsheltered at the encampments in Oakland, feeding them hot warm meals and spending time getting to know them. Very heartwarming. I hope I can make it for jumma prayer sometimes. I forgot how differently Sunni & Shia (here, mainly Persians) pray since coming from a different center.
