Despite the awful news we received during our appointment, Dr Wilder and Berkeley staff were amazing. The office is clean and the staff super friendly the entire time we were there. I felt like I was being kept informed with what was happening and they answered each and every question with empathy and patience. They provided me with options and realistic expectations for how much time we have left and referred us to an excellent specialist who was also able to schedule us the following week. Massive bonus for the drive thru pharmacy and the limited open hours on Saturdays. We will continue to bring our dogs here in the future and I won't hesitate to recommend them to all families that have fur babies. read more

I used to take my cat here for shots, anti-nausea medicine (for long car rides), and even to get fixed. The staff is always very friendly and the veterinarian is just as nice as can be as well. I brought my cat in to get neutered because I noticed he was spraying random stuff in my house. I dropped him off at the vet clinic at his appointment time and was told that I can pick him back up later that day. Well about an hour later the clinic called me to come by and pick him up because it appeared that he had already been fixed....best believe I was very confused. When I returned to the clinic the vet told me that she could not find his testicles and that he must be around 2-3 years old. She said he definitely reached the age of sexual maturity because he had spines on his penis that I guess animals get once they are old enough to mate. Usually if an animal is neutered at a young age, the spines to not develop. So she said that he must have been fixed before I found him, UNLESS his testicles never dropped. Only problem with this scenario is that usually only one will not drop completely and this would mean she would have to do surgery to try to find them. If he in fact was already fixed it would be a $500 surgery for no reason. So with that said, she told me that unless he really is spraying my place (the smell would be grotesque and unbearable) that she did not recommend the surgery. With that said, I ended up packing him up in his crate, told him I was sorry that I took him to the vet and went home. To this day I am not sure if he really sprayed or if it just looked like it. He was so mad that day though because when we finally got home he hid from me and would not eat for two days. I guess I wouldn't like it if I was a guy and someone wanted to chop my package off either. lol. read more

BEWARE of this place and check the medicine your dog is being administered. After spending 8 hours in the emergency vet I have discovered my dog was given two wrong medications from Berkeley Vet. This worsened her ear infection resulting in a ruptured ear drum and caused excessive urination on top of a long list of ongoing symptoms from dizziness to falling over. When talking to the ER vet she was completely confused why Berkeley would've prescribed my dog this medicine. I am so disappointed and angry with this place. I will never bring my pets here again and will be sure to warn others of my experience. read more

Incompetent or lazy. Took my dogs here for a mouth injury and general check up. The vet barely looked at them and seemed unsure of his job. Told me my dog needed a teeth cleaning and a tooth extraction which was causing the issue. He also was unsure if my older dog needed arthritis medication. Now here's the kicker. I schedule a teeth cleaning at Spring Creek Animal Hospital (much better and they offer a military discount to boot). Within TEN SECONDS the 20 something year old VET ASSISTANT diagnoses the issue. My dog had a bone fragment lodged in his jaw. Couldn't believe it. They took care of it immediately and sent my pupper home with shiny clean teeth. NO EXTRACTION necessary. read more

Price gouging. Medication for one of my dogs went from $17 to $80. Upon review of other refills at this office. The prices seem to be made up as they go. Especially the ones that they know the pet must have. There is no justification for what they are doing and there are several other bad reviews over pricing as well on google. This may be just a personal payback to Me because I gave them a bad rating back during the summer as well. I suggest to anyone to take the time to read all the reviews on multiple sites before you make a decision to go to Berkeley. Attitudes with the front desk help is unprofessional as well. This latest incident was one of many. On the phone same price as before and once we get there it's $80. And just a simple "I'm sorry" is the extent of the reply. Needless to say it's only $30 online. By far the worst vet I've ever been to. I will be inquiring with the State office about possible price gouging. I believe they feel that pet owners will just pay whatever they charge just to provide for their pets. I should have listened to the many others that I work with not to use this place. I have just had a rabies titer test (250.00) done at this vet; my vet does not do them, so I had to try Berkeley vet. Despite my stressing that the test had to be done and sent as quickly as possible, whomever sent the test out sent it, not to the Kansas State lab where they said they were sending it but to San Antonio. This means that I will have to either cancel or reschedule my trip. I will never use this people again. read more

I got to Berkeley Vet for my pets. I recently adopted two feral male kittens and I took them in to see if they were healthy. (+) Our Doctor was very kind, and gentle, yet firm with our kittens. He was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions! (+) Good customer service with the nurse, and we only waited 5 minutes for the doctor. (-) The receptionist was a little snappy, and it felt like we were being rushed (there was no one else there waiting to be seen). (-) A tad bit pricey just to be seen ($45). read more

Mixed review! Positives: Dr. Whit is wonderful with our pets. He is the ONLY reason I continue to endure the negative aspects of this practice. Most of the technicians are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Negatives: The administrative staff is a consistent source of poor customer service in my experience. They are always in a irritated state of mind and never seem appreciative of the patrons that ultimately pay their wages. To say most of the receptionists are unpleasant would be a gross understatement! Phone calls go unanswered or are put on hold for unreasonable amounts of time before being addressed. I have never called without being asked to hold. My records have been misplaced on two different occasions. Each time I was informed that I "apparently did not bring them" to the previous visit. In short, if you can make it past the front desk you stand a good chance at a positive experience with the clinic staff. read more

Dr. Wilder has provided knowledgeable and exceptional care for my pup for well over a decade. I feel he took time to know us and choose the best courses of treatment throughout the lifetime of my little guy. Even more impressive was his compassion and consideration during difficult decisions and an end of life situation. I feel my pup was in great hands and that everything possible was done to keep him comfortable. He acknowledged my grief and made the experience as humane and dignified as possible. I am thankful for Dr. Wilder and his genuine care for the animals and their humans who visit his practice. I can't imagine there's anyone better. read more

For those of you who are pet parents, and you know who you are, this is the place to take your special one. Our primary caregiver was Dr. Evans. She is a very special person and will always be remembered by me. She took care of my little dog during her time with cancer. She did this with compassion and understood how we wanted to care for our Chulita. Dr. Evan's spoke to us about our options when her cancer was first discovered. She offered us several treatment plans and never tried to push anything on us. Our little girl was diagnosed in June 2012, and because of Dr. Evan's great care, she was with us until July 2, 2013. She did not suffer, and she treated her with respect and kindness. The staff is always friendly and they too understood our needs, and the pain we felt when we loss our girl to cancer. So if you are looking for a special place to take your pet, look no more. read more

I was not impressed with Berkeley veterinary clinic one bit. I was not welcomed very properly and the people at the front desk could not get what I wanted to get done for my dog. They didn't want to do what I came in for but rather give her other shots. The veterinarian was not nice at all but just strictly business. You would think that a veterinarian would be a dog person.. right?! She wasn't. She never acknowledged my dog. The worst part was that the vet made my dog bleed 4 times while cutting her nails. My poor dog was yelping the whole time, while the vet referred to her as being "high maintenance." I asked her to stop halfway through, but she ignored me and told the technician to move my dog so she could keep cutting her nails. I will never go back there again and would never refer them to anyone. read more

She must have been at a different veterinarian than Berkeley Vet--these are the friendliest, most compassionate, caring folks I have yet to meet--we had to make the final decision with one of our babies and Dr. Oz helped us through the entire process and sent us a beautiful Sympathy Card the next day. After having gone to this vet for years with other pets, my latest experience was less than stellar. I was told my dog's teeth cleaning appointment would cost a certain amount. Then on the day of the appointment I was informed there would be an additional charge for a blood test. When asked why I was not informed of this earlier they said it was policy NOT to inform people of the added cost. While I like the veterinarian I usually dealt with, their business practices leave much to be desired. I would look elsewhere before making this your regular vet. read more

Berkeley Vet has always taken excellent care of all of my family pets. They are wonderful!!! Recently, my min pin that I had had for 13 years was bitten by a copperhead snake. I took him to the emergency vet in Wilson to be told that he had only injured his shoulder and would be fine. When we got up the next morning, he was much worse. I immediately called Berkeley Vet and they said for us to bring him right in. After working diligently to save his life they were not able to do so. They were so caring and full of compassion that it made losing my pet a little easier. I am so thankful that they were there to take care of him! read more

I had just about given up hope for my male Siamese, Ernie, who had stopped eating (except for a concoction of chicken baby food and kitten formula), cried out in pain constantly and was wasting away to nothing. I had patronized another veterinary clinic here in town for over 45 years and I took Ernie there for treatment. After that vet's suggestion that I have him put down, I took him to Berkeley Veterinary Clinic where Dr. Whitley examined him. He did research and consulted with the NCSU Vet Center and various other sources, after he diagnosed Ernie with stomatitis, an allergic reaction to his own teeth. He referred us to a vet in Wilmington who had all the necessary equipment and facilities to safely remove all of Ernie's teeth. Ernie's now 4+ years past his surgery and is a healthy big boy again. I've switched all of my pets (10 dogs and 4 cats) to Berkeley Veterinary Clinic where we've had appointments with each of the 4 veterinarians on staff. All of the vets have been caring and compassionate with my animals. read more
