The rooms are clean but to be honest sub par to what I was expecting, even for a Comfort Inn. The place is hub central for all your truckers and transportation/freight crews. Perhaps 'nuff said on the audience They cater to. The woman at the front desk was rather short and I don't mean in stature. I later found out she totally shafted me in rate as a walk-in guest compared to the standard rate. Nice. Being new to the area and requiring hotel lodging for two months, if the building quality wasn't enough to direct me to other hotels, the overcharging was. Still, if all you need is a bed with clean linen then fill your boots at the comfort inn. Just make sure they charge you a reasonable rate.

We needed to use the restroom and stopped in the Comfort Inn and asked if we could. The front desk staff said yes with a smile. They then gave us information about the bores, and I got to pet Izzy who is about the friendliest pup you can imagine. The kind of friendliness that the staff gave us will get my business next time I'm in town. I hope Izzy is working the front desk that day too!

There was a bar to hold onto but it was in the wrong place! Went to the office and asked where the ice machine was so I could fill up the ice bucket and they give you a small bag of ice! Breakfast was a joke.... Cold muffins, cold hash browns. Room was clean, however, there was no sign to place on the outside of the door and the office warned that if we didn't have the sign the room would not get cleaned. Telephone doesn't work, either. Was very disappointed and would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Whole place needs to be renovated big time!

I used to love staying at Irwin lake, stayed there 5 times in the last year alone. Brought many…read morepeople to stay. The last time with new owners was not only terrible but terrifying. I booked to stay in a 2 bedroom. When I called to confirm the month before, they advised me that I was actually in the new 1 bedroom (that was not available when I booked) The day I was leaving they called to advise there was a "plumbing issue" and I would be staying in even a smaller room. I did not complain one time. Friday afternoon someone had gone to the front office to ask which cabin I was staying in and they told this person which cabin I was in. Friday night when my husband was alone as he did not feel good, during this time someone showed up at the door to advise there was also a plumbing issue in this cabin and we have to get out ASAP. When he asked where we being moved, he advised that the person who rented would get an email, which I never did. I got back to my cabin and my husband and my dog are gone. I finally get him back to the cabin to advise I never got an email. Saturday morning while getting ready for the rodeo in Truro, the cleaning team advised we had to leave as they had someone else booked in for the night, we had an hour to leave and find a hotel to stay in last minute. When I emailed to advise of how disappointed I was, they offered nothing barely even an apology. I have emailed them numerous times to get my deposits back for the stay i canceled in 2026 and they still have not reached out to me. Place has gone downhill and is no longer a safe and peaceful environment. I have filed a claim with small claims court with them.

I am currently involved in a Yoga Program that requires me to observes 24hrs of silence at some point during the course. No radio, internet, TV, talking---notta. What better spot came to mind then Irwin Lakes! My husband and I have been here 2 other times and just loved it. The chalets are rustic but equip with everything you would need. They are nestled in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by trees and wooded area. And the view---overlooking the lake. Stunning. They have 1 bedroom chalets and and even 2 bdrm. Some larger then others, some have hot tubs even. Irwin Lakes is reasonably priced and such a great spot. I recommend to so many people!! If you havent experienced you should!

Maarten and Nelly are outstanding hosts and make every effort to make your stay enjoyable and memorable. For example, upon discovering that I am of Dutch heritage (like they are), they modified the breakfast menu to include some favorite dutch pancakes. I was delighted! The property is beautiful and extremely well maintained. I loved the fact it was slightly out of town and provided an idyllic country setting. Driving into town for dinner and sightseeing took less than five minutes, so we got the best of both worlds. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The bed was exquisite and we slept very well.

My advice for someone booking a room here is to be aware the four rooms they offer are all configured differently so that might make a difference to someone booking here. The tea room was closed during our visit.

I had the delight of working with two of their agents, Carolyn McNeil and Georgie Peppard. All sorts of hilarity ensued. I was stressed out, new to the area and stepping into a new role. Georgie and Carolyn kept me on the straight and narrow... And constantly laughing. They genuinely know this market and are not afraid to say "listen, based on what your needs and budget are, this is NOT the house for you." They saved me from jumping too quickly on a couple of properties I would have regretted. Your mind plays the antagonist when all you want to do is have the house search over with. In the end I got exactly the property meant for me. Straight shooters, trustworthy with tons if references if you need them, and experts in both realty and this market. I'd say you're in good hands with either of these gals. I'd stake my own reputation on either of these professionals. I wish I could give them both 10 stars!!!
