The negotiations at purchase were pleasant. I purchased seat covers with my car. It turns out that their installation is a lot more difficult than one would expect. I anticipated paying for the installation, but the sales manager had it done for free. The salesman came to my home to help me with the car software I didn't understand before taking the car home. I am impressed with how well I was treated. read more

The one star are for location only. I would NOT recommend this dealership or their service department. On April 15th I had a 18,000 mile service for my 2024 Crosstrek, which includes an oil change. I picked up the car, they did not wash it. I inquired as to why and was told that would be an additional hour. I left disappointed, this information should have been conveyed to me when I checked in. On Wednesday April 16th, as I was driving back from Houston, I noticed in the rearview mirror, that smoke appeared to be coming from the rear of the car. We pulled over to make sure nothing was wrong. Then we smelled smoke and noticed smoke coming from the front of the car, under the hood. Upon exiting the car, there was oil draining from under the car onto the pavement. Since we were not close to home, we had the car towed to Hicks Subaru in Corpus Christi. I had no idea at the time what had caused to oil to leak out. Lucky for us that we had it towed to Hicks and not Edinburg. They were able to assess the car and determine that the drain plug had fallen out. We had lost all the oil. Hicks performed a thorough assessment and determined that the engine had not been damaged, good thing we pulled over quickly. Otherwise the engine would burned up. Hicks replaced the oil, etc. I called the Service Department at Ogden Subaru, I had to call 6 times before I could finally reach a service manager. I explained what had happened to the car and that I was very unhappy with their service department. I stated that I wanted reimbursement for the tow, which was about $400. On Thursday morning, I still hadn't heard from Bert Ogden. So I went to the service department to inquire about reimbursement. The person at the desk had to call the service manager several times, to no avail. He had to physically search the grounds to find one of the managers(Scott). I asked Scott about the reimbursement for the tow, he stated that they don't cut check on site. That the request had already been sent to accounting. I asked for a copy. He was unable to locate the request form. He made a phone call and found out it had not been sent. So I guess that was a lie. So I waited for him to fill it out and give me a copy. I no longer trust this organization. I also sent an email to Robert Gamez the general manager on April 17th, explaining the situation, no acknowledgement or response. Today is Monday April 21st, I have never received a phone call or email from anyone at Bert Ogden. NO ONE HAS APOLOGIZED FOR THE POOR SERVICE, NOT EVEN SCOTT. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THEM, YOU WILL BE STUCK WITH THEM FOR SERVICE. I will be driving to Corpus Christi for my remaining service. Kathryn Wade read more

Worst service department I've ever worked with. Spark plugs and an oil change, quoted at 2 hours took almost 6. I made sure to make an appointment to help things run smoothly. I was given a courtesy ride to Barnes and Noble, but because no one answered the phone at the dealership or in service for over an hour when i tried to get a ride back. I had to Uber back. Not complaining about the 15 bucks I paid Uber, but about the lack of help when I called. Zero answer at a dealership was surprising. After 6 hours, I got back to a messy car and a clock that was for some reason off by three hours. I realize that they had to disconnect power, but how hard is it to reprogram a clock?! I will not be back to Bert Ogden. Sadness. read more

Took my Subaru Outback in for service on Dec 6th, 4 weeks later I can't get a hold of anyone in the service department to get any info on the status of my car. They don't return calls or texts. I have tried at least two times a week to call and get updates with no result. This service department has horrible customer service and does not communicate at all with the customers. I hope I can still recover my car. I do not recommend this dealership. read more

super LAME service. brought in my Subaru yesterday for specific problems (engine knocking and lights on dash) and they tried to tell me that the reason my engine knocks is because of a hub bearing lmao. as if I'm that stupid cause I'm a woman. I know what a bad bearing sounds like I've replaced two of them MYSELF. I took my car in for just a simple diagnostic check up so I could find out what's exactly wrong and try to just fix it myself and save money. They said it would take a couple hours I dropped it off at 8:30am and didn't get it back till 6pm. 10 HOURS. And after all that they still didn't tell me what was wrong with my car they said it would be on my receipt and no information was on my receipt and I paid $100 for nothing. Just to get my car back. also, they're supposed to film a multi point inspection video for customers, and they did not do that for me. if I could give zero Stars I would. service was not completed. read more

Today was my worst experience with a Subaru dealership in 12 years. This is also the 2nd review I have ever written. The Subaru service help desk will tell you whatever you need to hear to leave your car for repair. I explained my situation. She said,no problem. This was a lie. Once your car is dropped off. Do not try contact. They give every excuse why someone cannot speak to you. This service was so bad it has turned me off a Subaru. That is how much I loathe the service Given to me today. I do not ever expect much. I expect HONESTY. Not smoke. If anyone has any suggestions of an honest mechanic in Mcallen that works on Subaru. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. And you guys really should give your phone girls a wee more customer service training. read more

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. I am located in the Austin area and called Bert Ogden Subaru in regards to a car that was listed as in-transit on their website. I spoke to a salesman who first insisted that the car was there and that I should get down there (6 hour drive!) right away or else it might be gone or that he would accept a deposit on it. I clearly gave him the info necessary to ID the car, including model, color, trim level, options, etc., but then had to clarify with him not once, not twice, but three times about the vehicle I was looking for was not blue, nor was it a different trim level that he kept insisting on. Finally, he admitted that the car was not on the lot after pressuring me to drive 6 hours or send a deposit on a car that was not there. It was the smarmiest, worst experience and a perfect example of the horrible stereotype of car salespeople. I found another, similar car at another dealership that did not jerk me around and am taking my business elsewhere. read more

Horrible dealership. This place has no idea what customer service means. First off, after negotiating a price for a 2013 outback, the sales guy left for a few minutes to print up the paperwork. When he came back the negotiated price suddenly jumped $2000. We were told all their cars are treated with some sort of package to protect the leather. It took us 2 more hours of negotiating to have the $2000 removed from the price. We should have walked out at this point, but we really liked the car and made the huge mistake of staying and purchasing the car. Next, my wife called and made an appointment for one of the free oil changes that come with the new car. When she arrived at the dealership she was told that the appointment she had made over the phone was just to make an appointment for the oil change at the dealership. She waited 3 hours for them to complete the oil change. Finally, we traded in our outback (purchased at Bert Ogden) at another dealership (because of the horrible experiences mentioned) and purchased a forester. We completed the required paperwork to cancel the extended warranty and receive a prorated refund from Bert Ogden. I was told a check would be cut and mailed to us in 6-8 weeks. 12 weeks later we hadn't heard from Bert Ogden subaru. I called them to ask about our refund and was told that the check was cut, but unsigned. I was told the check would be signed the following week and I would receive a call to confirm our address for them to mail the check. Guess what? No call. I called them the day after and was told the check was mailed to Chase Financial. According to Patty Champion, since I hadn't told them that our outback was traded in, they just went ahead and sent the check to Chase without even asking us if we still had an account with Chase or if we even had the car purchased from them. I told her this was unacceptable and she said we would have to call Chase to find out how to get the check back. She told me I had miscommunicated the situation to them and now the burden was on me. I have yet to see my $800 refund check. Patty Champion's unprofessional and completely sarcastic attitude infuriated me and completely elevated the already frustrating situation to an unbearable level. I had enough and I'm going to make sure everyone knows to avoid Bert Ogden Subaru at all costs. STAY AWAY. read more

I don't know what it is about Bert Ogden dealerships but every time I've been to one I feel like they are playing games with me. At this location every time I mentioned an advertised price the subject was quickly changed. Was left standing there several times without any idea where the people went and they never came back. Was offered a test drive, but somehow no one ever brought keys to any of the vehicles. The whole experience was just weird. You just get the feeling they are trying to pull a fast one on you. Like ALL Bert Ogden dealerships, absolutely horrible to deal with for sales!! I was moving to Mexico and I needed a new family vehicle like yesterday and after a horrible experience with Bert Ogden Kia we went with Subaru bc I loved my Impreza. I was forced to overpay 2-3000 with bs excuse why and given a horrible trade value for my '12 Impreza. Drove off the Lot with a '19 Ascent that had issues. Took it back they said it should have never been allowed to leave the Lot. A week later they delivered a "new" '19 Ascent with same features from Houston. Had ~894 miles on it compared to the actual new one I drove off with days before that had 18 miles. Then I received ONE key. Was promised to have the second one a day or two later. It's been over a MONTH and still no spare. I gave them a check pre filled out from a bank for financing a week before this "new" ascent purchase came in. 3 weeks after i took the vehicle home they signed the check and deposited it so the bank could finalize my loan. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE/UNPROFESSIONAL! That being said, service department, I'd give probably a solid 4 starts. They took care of me with the faulty new ascent and my '12 Impreza I took there a few times. They make you feel like you bought a Subaru, a quality vehicle. Sales...JOKE! Don't ever buy a vehicle from any Bert Ogden dealer. Some of their dealerships you can't even tell who works there because they dress worse than their customers!! So sad! read more

Overall process from looking at the vehicle to signing the papers was good and smooth. But it appears the "good" customer service ends there because as soon as I left the lot, I have yet to receive good customer service. I drove from Harlingen to Edinburg to purchase my new Subaru Forester and like with every vehicle purchase, you receive a temporary license plate. Well, between the Subaru lot and my home, it fell off and ever since then I have been trying to get a replacement without success. I have been in contact with our salesman and he with his manager and all I am told is that they will email me one but that has turned out to be lies. It as been almost 24 hours that I have not been able to drive my new vehicle because I do not want to be pulled over for no plates.and it will only be longer because today is Sunday and they are closed on Sundays!!! This was my first time at this Bert Ogden Subaru dealership and what an experience. If you want to buy a Subaru, just make the drive somewhere else because it seems that you will get that helpful show only while you're there and be left to fend for yourself afterwards. read more

If you want to buy a Subaru or need to get your car serviced, save yourself some frustration and look elsewhere. The staff at Bert Ogden Subaru do an abysmal job of communicating with customers and keeping them updated about the status of repairs. I was still waiting for their written estimate by the time I finally picked up my vehicle from the service department 11 days later. Staff consistently failed to follow through on simple promises to call with a quote or email an estimate or have a colleague call me with an update. It got to the point where I just wanted to get my car back and take it elsewhere, whether Bert Ogden Subaru had started the repairs or not. When I did pick it up, they gave my car back with a dead battery. The battery was working fine when I dropped it off. Of course, no one bothered to tell me the battery was dead. I had to find out as I was about to drive off. More standing around and waiting then ensued. I also discovered that one of the external AWD logos "coincidentally" was about to fall off when I picked up the car. It's really too bad. My wife and I love our Subaru Forester, and I had known Bert Ogden Subaru owners Bob and Janet Vackar to set very high standards for their dealerships. Unfortunately, their employees clearly don't share those high standards. Potential customers should beware. read more
