Prepare for a long wait if you venture in on a weekend -- this local hot spot is always busy. Always. The inside seats all of about two patrons, but there are plenty of tables outdoors, rain or shine. The plain croissants are a perfect hangover cure, totally worth the crowd. Coffee is loving prepared using Small Batch beans, with single origins regularly being rotated. There is a very friendly vibe, with the owners/baristas knowing everyone by name. Miny pastries and juices are too available. Shop Front isn't overly big though, and being located on Victoria Pde it isn't easy to park in front of. If you're anywhere in the area though checking out the sales in the warehouse district or looking at the new Porches down the road, by all means treat yourself to a coffee here!

The kitchen bursts into the dining area so the place smells amazing, and really authentically transports you to old Europe! Not sure if that's what the owners are going for but that's how I took it! This may be because it is technically in Fitzroy not Collingwood. But you would think they must have to do something to attract customers, being essentially situated in the middle of nowhere along Melbourne's busy Alexandra Parade. The way I look at it, their pies must be pretty bloody good to a) not have to stoop to lame marketing tactics and b) require customers to go a good way out of their way to go obtain said pie. And you know what, I think I am right. Their pies are pretty good. Although there is another reason why Sainsburys may not have to worry about getting customers through the door. It is fact that they specialise in Gluten Free goods and therefore have a great deal of coeliac regulars who will likely sell their own mother to get a good pastry and are certainly willing to go out of their way to get to this bakery. Either way, Sainsburys food isn't bad at all. I still wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but luckily enough for me it is across the road from my gym - and what better way to gain those lost calories than by tucking into a custard slice or a meat pie after a work-out.

A huge range of varying breads and rolls make this place a supplier of many of the nearby cafes on Smith and Brunswick streets. The Norwegian bap roll is definitely my favourite. The Portuguese tarts here are divine and I've heard the sausage rolls are highly recommended, although a bit too greasy. The atmosphere is a little factory-esque and sipping on a quite coffee is difficult with the constant pounding of the outside traffic. The sign out front states 'last coffee before Frankston' which is true but doesn't offer anywhere for the traffic commuter to park.

A Jewish company founded here in South East Melbourne, Head office in Carnegie. And the founder/owner is till working til this day! This place isn't hard to miss. A lot of car park space here and it is located outside JB Hi-Fi, opposite of the pet store. Good open area for sitting with good variety of bagels, bread to pastries to pick from. Clean, modern and well presented with warm customer service. If you ever drive pass Southland Shopping center, make sure to shop by here and try some of their bagels. Usually the good ones are gone before 1pm, so be quick on that... You would also appreciate this company more if you read how this company became famous to the Jewish community. I mean, they also supply to Some "Coles" and "Woolworths" supermarkets.
