I had a very disappointing experience at Bob's Discount Furniture in Dover, DE…read more I work long hours, so most of my free time to shop is in the evening. The store advertises hours of 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, so I planned my visit accordingly. I arrived on Monday, July 6, 2026, around 8:15 PM. After about 10 minutes of looking around, a salesman greeted us. He was polite at first, but he was trying to assist us while also helping another customer. It was obvious multi tasking is not for him , and we never really received the attention needed for such a large purchase. Around 8:40 PM, the music was turned off. I was by the coffee and cookie station getting my child a cookie when a woman I assumed was the manager (dark hair in a bun) began putting away the coffee and refreshments. Loud enough for customers to hear, she told the salesman, "Yep, it's time to go home. Time to close up." The problem was that the store didn't close for another 20 minutes. Whether there were 20 minutes left or only 5, that's not how customers should be made to feel. The message was clear: they were more interested in getting everyone out the door than helping customers. Shopping for furniture is a major purchase that takes time, and once we felt rushed, we had no desire to continue. I completely understand that employees want to go home after a long shift, but if your posted hours say you're open until 9:00 PM, customers should receive the same level of service until 9:00 PM--not feel like an inconvenience because they came in during business hours. That interaction made me question what kind of customer service I'd receive after the sale if there were ever a problem. If customers are treated like an inconvenience before they've even made a purchase, it's hard to have confidence in the company afterward. We decided to leave without buying anything. The next morning we went to Ashley Furniture in the neighboring shopping center, where we were welcomed, never felt rushed, and ended up purchasing our living room furniture there instead. Unfortunately, Bob's Discount Furniture lost a sale because customer service ended before the store's posted business hours did.

As a result, we had a lot of phone calls with this store. We ALWAYS received a prompt and courteous response, always with an aim toward resolving the problem. Communication was thorough; we never felt at any time like we were being ignored. The deliveries that were scheduled (again, multiple deliveries because we had that problem) were always on time, the the crew was very clean and professional. And, eventually the issue was resolved to our complete satisfaction. I'm impressed because, like most people, we don't buy beds that often. It would have been easy for the team at this Mattress Firm to brush us aside, because, after all, how likely were we to buy another bed in the near future? That's not what happened. In each conversation, it felt like they were doing their best to resolve our situation and advocating on our behalf. We don't have any bed-buying plans for the near term. But, if we did, we would definitely return to this Mattress Firm. And, when the time does come, this store will be the first place we look.

The day before we were told it would be wrapped in plastic to protect it from the elements, it wasn't. We were also told a warehouse team member would be on hand to load the chair. That too did not happen. 4. It took some time to get assistance in order to load it into our vehicle even though there were 5 staff members mulling around and not assisting, very poor customer service. 5. Additionally, when we inquired earlier in the day about changing out the chair for a rocking recliner, even willing to pay additional costs, the manager said no, you already paid and we will not do an exchange or upgrade. 6. We have been customers of Johnny Janosik furniture store over the last 30+ years and we find the quality of the products and overall customer experience has been trending downward. This will be our last purchase at this store.

Purchased a lift chair for my almost 90 year old Dad with my Mom (Maryann Zinszer) less than a year…read moreago..paid close to $1000. My father had a stroke two years ago and spends most of his day in bed so the chair isn't used that much. About a month ago the back of the chair started pealing off. I called and was told by their service department that it wouldn't be covered by the manufacturer as it wasn't a manufactured defect but they would check with Johnny Janosik directly to see if the store could do anything. They called back a couple days later and said that the store wasn't going to fix, refund or replace anything either. I even asked for a prorated credit so we could get him a different chair from them.. they said no. This chair is less than a year old! Unbelievably disappointed. FYI: They responded to the Google review I posted more than 4 weeks ago saying they were sorry for my experience and understand my frustration and would look into it further and get back with me! They have NOT gotten back with me...
