This review is specific to Valentina, an IBCLC, who came for two visits with my 7 week old. She came highly recommended by my pediatrician. I called her on a Monday morning, and she was available to come the next day. She helped educate me about symptoms/signs of lip and tongue tie, and was very hands off in terms of strongly recommending/pushing the procedure. However, she gave me the tools to make the decision with my husband to have the procedure done. She was very encouraging, and requested I follow up with her to let her know the outcome, regardless of whether I scheduled another appointment with her. I did have a follow up with her after the procedure, and she was again encouraging and helpful in going over additional breastfeeding positions, mouth stretches and suck exercises. While this company was not contracted with my insurance, she gave me a super bill, and was up front with costs. Having someone come to my home and evaluate my baby and the breastfeeding process in the comfort of my own home, is worth the potential out of pocket costs for us. I recommend Valentina if you live in the north county inland area (Rancho Bernardo and surrounding areas). read more

She is an IBCLC who was a pediatrician back in Italy, and offered me a lot of support during a particularly difficult period of time where I was dealing with plugged ducts/mastitis, a tongue tied baby with poor latch/transfer, and other health concerns. She is so warm and understanding, and is also very knowledgeable about a variety of breastfeeding issues. Additionally, she provides both therapeutic breast massage and therapeutic ultrasound for clogged ducts and has helped me avoid recurrent mastitis. She is always available via text, and the home visits have been very convenient since it is otherwise hard to plan for appointments with a newborn! Having a newborn baby during a pandemic is so challenging. Top that with not being able to make an outpatient (in person) appointment with a lactation specialist, you have one very stressed, emotional, and overwhelmed mom. Breastfeeding is one of the most challenging experiences postpartum and I honestly think that outpatient services should still be offered during this time. I can only imagine how many mothers have given up on their breastfeeding journey too soon because they weren't able to get the proper help they needed. Lactation specialists are important especially during those early postpartum weeks. My baby had an upper lip and tongue tie, and breastfeeding was so painful. I was bruised, blistered, and bleeding. With that being said, Heidi has been nothing short of amazing and helpful. Although we couldn't meet in person, we FaceTimed and she helped me as best as she could, giving me tons of advice and suggestions, but most importantly, reassurance and hope that things would get better (and they did!). She was very empathetic, and really showed she cared. She would send me text messages every so often just checking to see how i was doing and how breastfeeding was going. She would also send me videos to demonstrate stretches I needed to perform on my baby after she got her lip and tongue tie revisions done. I couldn't be more grateful for Heidi. If it weren't for her help, I might not have made it this far into my breastfeeding journey. read more

Heidi from Best Baby Ever is amazing, very knowledgeable and kind. We met her after a couple of weeks of struggling with breastfeeding and I am so thankful we did. My son was tongue tied and had already gotten a frenectomy done at our pediatricians office when I met with her, breastfeeding was not working and I was at a loss. She met with me and evaluated my sons mouth and the way we were nursing together. She recognized right away that she believed he was still tongue tied and lip tied. She sent educational videos on suck training and latching which she wanted me to work on with my son. She was so encouraging and kept telling me I'm going to help you, I'll be here the whole time helping you until you are able to nurse. It was just the words I needed to hear, I felt supported and encouraged that I might be able to nurse. After a few meetings and no real improvements with transferring any milk, she recommended a dentist that could further evaluate and diagnose my son, who confirmed that he was still tied. We had the frenectomy done to his tongue as well as his lip. After the procedure I nursed immediately with no real hope that it was going to make a difference, we had "taken a break" from nursing due to my sons frustration. When I latched him on I could tell a difference. He immediately had more range of motion and he was staying on the breast. Heidi checked in on us a few times making sure things were going well. With out her I would not be nursing my son. I am forever great full for her. Anyone that works with her will see how passionate she is about breastfeeding and truly wants to help in anyway possible. ABSOLUTELY TRUE STORY...After my 83 year old mother lost her significant other (I think of him as my step-Dad), we were all of a sudden confronted with the need for a care-giver to take care of mom. My mom is a great lady, but afflicted with Alzheimer's. She is funny, intelligent, strong willed and quite opinionated (all in a good way)...but this made for a very challenging situation. My sister, an RN and Alzeimer's care-giver in New York flew out to help me go through the difficult process of finding, interviewing and vetting a good home care service company. I had a very unfortunate outcome with using this service. I work from home and over heard the nanny speaking loudly, telling our 1 and a half year old to stop kicking while the nanny was physically constraining our daughter. I then stepped-in and asked the nanny to leave. It is NOT the place of the nanny to anything of this sort. If the nanny felt things where out of her control she MUST contact the parent for help. The owner was very helpful and understanding. This was the most scary thing I encountered with another person and my child. Thank God I was at home. read more

Contacted whole life home care to set us up with a nanny. We specified that we were looking for a nanny for 3-6 months, who had experience and would be willing to help our daughter with some light physical therapy. We took off from work to meet with the nanny they suggested. The nanny had some experience, but had no interest in performing any kind of physical therapy, and did not want a short term job. Additionally she seemed to want to be a personal assistant and not a nanny. We will be looking elsewhere. read more

I have had the absolute pleasure of having Vicki as my lactation consultant. She has guided me thru all 3 of my sons that all had "different latches".I had cracked, bleeding and engorged breast. I thought by the 3rd child I would have it figured out, but i didnt. She helped me as much on my 3rd as she did on my 1st and 2nd child. Whole Life Home Care has a model that takes advantage of new mothers. As a new mom, I was desperate to get help with breastfeeding my son. I decided to have Whole Life come to my house and paid the $195.00 for a visit thinking that was a lot of money but worth it to get some answers. During that visit, it was recommended to us to get a lip/tongue tie procedure done to help with feeding issues so we took the next steps to have it done. I was then told that they would come over for a "follow up visit" to see how things were going after the procedure. I was not told, however, that a follow up visit would cost an additional $185.00. I was not aware of the charge until it appeared several weeks later on my bank statement. During that visit, it was very clear that breastfeeding wasn't going to happen, however they were still pressing the issue and asked to come back yet again. Trying to get more money out of a new mother who clearly didn't have the ability to breastfeed her child.... read more

One word to describe Vicki is DANGEROUS. I hired Vicki as a lactation consultant when my son was 10 days old. My son was gassy. Nurses as Scripps hospital recommended I see a lactation consultant to examine his latch and see if we could reduce the amount of air getting into his stomach. Vicki came to my house examined my son, watched me nurse and gave me a nursing plan. She told me that my son had "lactose overload" and to change my nursing positions so that he had to pull the milk up from my breast (the Australian hold). That this would slow him down and he would have time to digest the milk. Nursing sessions increased to over 90 min, 8-12 times a day and my son was even gassier, and much more fussy than before. I call her 17 times over the next 7 weeks telling her this was not working, that he was always so hungry. My son was nursing over 16 hrs a day and then still drinking 2-3 oz off a bottle. She said just nurse him more. I continued, I called her again when I had cracked nipples and a breast infection because I was nursing so much. She said that he was just going through a growth spurt and that I just need to feed him more. My friend dragged me to Mary Birch were they immediately looked in his mouth and said he is tongue-tied. They indicated that the way Vicki had told me I had to nurse him was putting at least 30% more air into his stomach and that he was not getting enough food. I asked them if this was this very obvious, they said "YES". They them gave me list of lactation consultants extremely similar to the one I received at Scripps. The only difference was that Vicki was not on the list. Their only comment to me was there is a reason she is not on our list. At 2 months old my son only weighs 9 lbs, the doctors gave him prescription supplementation to have him gain weigh. They believe that he missed his previous growth spurts do to inadequate nutrition. This is a review for Valentina, the lactation consultant who visited us in our home to offer support during my first few weeks breastfeeding. As I had to have a C-section and live on the second story of a building with no elevator access, Best Baby Ever connected us with Valentina who heard about my struggles and called me right away; when I didn't return her call, she also texted me, letting me know that she was available. She arrived on time for our first visit, and has been absolutely amazing! I was feeling discouraged and frustrated prior to her first visit, and by the end of her time with me, my husband, and our baby, I was excited to get started with the personalized plan she had worked out with us for breastfeeding. Yes, each visit does cost money, but I believe it's well-spent, considering all of the individualized care she puts into our meetings and the information she shares. One thing she did that really helped me was to watch me start to breastfeed my baby, then help me correct anything we could do so that next time he would latch better, and I wouldn't be in so much pain. A week after that initial visit, we asked her to return for a follow-up and we were all happy to see the progress we made! She listens to our concerns and makes sure all of our questions are answered. I feel more confident and excited about breastfeeding, especially knowing I have access to such a knowledgeable and kind resource in Valentina. read more

The nanny we had for our 4 month old came highly recommended by the team at WholeLife Homecare. Looking back, she was pretty awful and poorly vetted. POORLY VETTED. That is what I trusted them to do. She had little recent experience with young babies, my husband is convinced to this day that she was a smoker, and she did a few "red flag" things in addition to general poor judgment and lack of personal accountability. The best red flag example is that I looked on the baby monitor's saved pictures from that day, and saw one of my baby's stuffed animals over his face while in his crib. Over his face!!! I immediately called the nanny and she said oh I was right there with him, must have just been a split second etc etc. Still, even if it was just a second, not good and the stuffed animal should have been nowhere near a 4 month old's crib in the first place. The nanny also had a separate job where she would stay overnight the night prior (to watching our baby all day) taking care of an elderly patient. This made her not only late a few times but what kind of sleep was she getting?? WLHC basically shrugged this off stating they had no control over outside work that the nanny has. I find that unacceptable as well. Overall, poor vetting of caregivers and way way overpriced for the quality of childcare you would expect from an agency like this. read more

Whole Life Home Care has come to our family's rescue on more than one occasion and we have been so pleased with their level of professionalism, reliability and quality of care. When my mother was hospitalized with 2 back surgeries, Whole Life sent highly qualified, compassionate providers to care for my mother around the clock. They were very skilled on how to handle someone recovering from back surgery and were ever so patient with my mom, who was foggy for quite a few days following surgery. On another occasion, my mother-in-law broke her wrist and needed a caregiver to help her bathe, dress and do chores. Her arm has long since healed, but she still has her caregiver to help around the house and to ensure she doesn't fall while bathing or showering. They quite enjoy each other's company! They respond promptly when you call with a request and are very easy to work with! I highly recommend them to anyone looking for care for a loved one. read more
