I took my Mac Book pro here for diagnostic and hopefully repair. My keyboard and track pad had stopped working. The machine itself would work with either blue tooth or USB mouse/keyboards attached, but I wanted to see the cost of repairing the laptop keyboard/track pad. First off, it took them 3 days to give me a diagnostic and estimate. I had to call myself to find the status. They told me it was the top case and it would cost $380. I decided this would be worth it to me and agreed to proceed. They called 2 days later and said it wasn't the top case after all it was the logic board and that would cost a bit more $440. All the people I spoke with at this company were not good with people. They weren't friendly, or good at explaining what they there were doing. It was almost like they explained too much technical and not enough of what a client needed to know. The repair tech on the phone went on and on about parts and technical terms etc.. I don't repair computers. I had to repeatedly ask: How much will this cost and when can you get it done? He told me 1-2 more days and I decided for $60 more I'd move forward with the repair. I get a call. Now it's both the case and the logic board need to be replaced and the repair would be over $800.00. They have had my computer a week at this point. I said no to this repair, as I may as well buy a new laptop at that point. They said I would need to pay a 20% restock fee. I said I didn't feel I should have to pay a restock fee when they couldn't properly estimate or diagnose my problem. I never would have agreed to an $800 plus repair. I would pay their $75 dollar diagnostic fee. I asked them to put my laptop back together and return it as I gave it to them. When I went to pick it up, there was no conversation, no apology or explanation, nothing. I barely got eye contact. I tested that my machine was working. Everything seemed in order. When I went to use it the next day (with Bluetooth keyboard/mouse) the battery ran out. When I plugged the charger in, it wouldn't register the charger. I couldn't charge the laptop. I took my Mac book to the Apple Store in the Maine Mall. They diagnosed it free of charge!!! This is what they found. There is a simple plug in cable in the case that enables the charger to work. This cable was disconnected. They plugged it back in and it worked fine, and they didn't even charge me. So Unlimited Technology formerly Capitol Computers either directly sabotaged my laptop so it would appear to be in working order at their office but break later; or they are simply incompetent. Either way this is completely unacceptable service. The Apple Store diagnosed the keyboard issue free of charge. I can't remember exactly the full diagnosis, but they said it would be a little over $500 to repair. I decided to just use it with Bluetooth accessories until I upgrade. I should have just gone to Apple, as I have always had the great customer service at the Maine Mall store. I was simply hoping to save some time as Unlimited Technology formerly Capitol Computers was closer to me and I try to support small business. It was really disappointing how awful the experience was.

    I am very disappointed in Central Maine Power and their lack of compassion. my young (18) daughter…read moredid not move into the home until January of this year, when they flew from Oregon to Maine to live with her father. Prior to January, they were living in my home under my care. These young girls are not seasoned renters; they are barely adults who were simply trying to build a relationship with Liliana's estranged father. He had not been in her life for 14 years. What followed was a tragic and destabilizing series of events. He was arrested in March for domestic violence, and his wife moved out shortly thereafter. MY daughter and I were both assured by her father that he would continue to cover rent and utilities, as they had only just arrived. However, after his arrest, the court barred him from returning to his home, as she is a witness in the case. Since then, they have been left alone to manage the aftermath of his legal and financial abandonment. They are not responsible for the electricity as they were living WITH others. This is NOT their home. This is not their bill. They are not accountable until the day it was transferred into their names. All previous usages should be billed to the account holder. Especially since they have been told he was going to court to come back home. These young women are now scraping by with minimal income. I'm helping them as best I can with food and gas, but they simply cannot afford to be saddled with someone else's unpaid utility bill, especially one incurred before they ever moved in. Yes, CMP put all of this usage on them and they now have a bill over $400!! I asked CMP with sincere urgency and compassion to waive or remove the back charges from their account. They are not the account holders for the period in question, and holding them responsible for his bill would only further penalize them for circumstances they never asked for. They refused and basically said, "Too bad!"

    CMP is the worse power company I've even encountered in any state or city that I have ever lived…read morein. If they didn't have an illegal monopoly on power in Maine I would switch to literally any other power company. A 2 year old child couple operate a power company better than these imbeciles. They seem to delight in randomly turning off the power for planned outages when the temperature is in the single digits. They never notify anyone that they plan to do a "planned" outage. They've ruined several appliances, made me fail a test for a class when I was getting my masters degree, caused many personal injuries with their blackouts. I wish to God that any other power company would come to Maine and reduce us from CMP. There's no way it could get worse.
