If I could leave zero stars, I would. I came in with my child's iPad, expecting a simple cracked screen replacement. Instead, Geek Squad associate Josh tried to upcharge me and act like the repair would cost more than what Apple themselves has ever charged me ($29 through AppleCare+). On top of that, they talked about shipping my device off something Apple has never once required for a screen replacement. What makes this worse is that it looked like they chipped my screen further during the process, then turned around and wanted me to pay more because of the part of the screen they made come out and expose said internals (their excuse for not doing the work at $29 price). If Best Buy has such high turnover and no Apple-certified techs on hand, they shouldn't be advertising AppleCare or offering repairs they're not trained to handle. You really need to upgrade your store help. Most of them walk around with a phone in their hand acting as they are "the know it all". I was in your Columbia store just the other day and final saw a young man walking around looking down at his phone trying to ignore me. I finally called out to him asking if he had time for a question and his respond was "depend on what the question is". I turned and walked out to never enter the store again. Longtime customer and had just purchased a top of the line i9 laptop through the online store. I decided to add an interal 2nd hard drive. The computer is so new there were no up to date videos on how to remove the back. Made an appointment with the Geek Squad. The guy who checked me in was superb. After checking back where the technicians were, he said I could check the computer in. I couldn't as I was going back to FLA where I spend half the year. I told him if a tech would just show me the seam, because I have opened many a computer, and I would do it myself. I could hear the tech guys making snarky comments and the counter guys agreed that those guys are real a**holes. I asked to speak to the manager, Mark something. He went back in the service area and came back and showed me where the seam was. I thanked him. Very pleasent and something just clicked in him, he turned to me and said don't you ever come in my store again and tell any of my people that they might lose their job. Went to the store only to find out they only price match to limited number of stores. I found at least 10 sites with a less expensive camera (again it was the exact model). I made an appointment to have my iPhone battery replaced. My appointment was at 3:20. I showed up at 3:00 and tried to check in. I was not helped until almost 3:40 while GeekSquad employees were sitting in the back just laughing and talking. Finally got my phone taken back at 3:50. I'm told that it will be two hours and they will call me. By 7:15, I come back and my phone is STILL not done. I check in and am told they don't have my phone and are working on someone else's. Then come back and say no, I am working on your phone right now. I'm told it will be another 10 minutes. The employee then starts to held another customer as the other employees are sitting doing nothing. I did not get my phone back until 8:10. 10 minutes after close and almost 5 hours after my appointment. Other customers who did not have appointments and came in after me had their devices back. There is no absolutely no reason why it should have taken 5 hours to replace a battery. I paid $120 for my battery to be relaxed and my screen protector. I live over an hour away and had to spend 5 hours in Columbia waiting for my phone. No apologies, no manager coming to talk, not even a phone call to update me they were running beyond. Not all Best Buys are created the equal. This store can be the Best Buy and the Worst Buy deepening on which day and time you shop. Employees will avoid eye contact with you for fear you might actually ask them to show you something or worse yet, answer a product question. Or they will pounce on you upon entering with constant conversation regardless of you request for just wanting to browse and contemplate purchases. I have been a Best Buy customer since they came to Central Mo. I also have a service agreement with Geek Squad which I am happy with. I purchased a new TV, and washing machine at the Jeff City store and had the most pleasant experience with the young associate who sold me those items. Since that store has recently closed, I have had to go to the one in Columbia. Big change. I was looking to buy a computer monitor several weeks ago. When I finally found an associate, his body language and attitude tood me that I was a bother to him. Very unfriendly. Today I went to buy a printer. I literally walked the entire store and found no one in any department. Another customer began yelling "is anyone here" several times at a volume that could easily be heard in the entire building. After no one appeared we walked to the front of the store. The "greeter" was playing with his cell phone and paying no attention to anyone. There were 4 associates behind the check out counter talking and laughing with each other. The other customer was angry and berated the associates telling them that the entire store had no one waiting on customers and demanded service. The employees chuckled and one male associate reluctantly followed us the the computer department. It was obvious that he was not happy about interrupting his social gathering. I left the store at that time deciding to shop on Amazon instead. The other 3 associates were still visiting with each other and the "greeter" still playing with his cell phone. It's the Christmas season people why is Best Buy not interested in taking care of business. I hate to see this store close but that is exactly what will happen if things don't improve. Went to every Walmart in Columbia MO to find a 32 inch smart VIZIO TV. Their websites said they carried them in store. FAKE NEWS. Went online to Best Buy, found the TV I wanted for my exercise room, and found they had only 3 left in stock. Ran over to Best Buy, found a sales associate (finally) who could help me, and purchased the next to last VIZIO in that size. Great service once I found someone able to help me (two people in TV area who were busy, phone area was over-staffed and they could not help me in TV). Geeksquad is horrible. The techs do a good job, but once the service is performed, it takes an act of Congress to to get them out to the house to repair, they don't honor the warranty, it is inconvenient and you can only schedule service off the 1-800 number not in-store. So, the people you talk to on the phone have no clue what was previously done and don't seem to care. I will never have them install flat-screens or other items again. Go with a mom and pop store that cares about keeping you as a customer. read more

I was very disappointed in trying to buy a shredder from Best Buy. The store did not have the brand I wanted in the store. I wanted to order one on line at the store. The associate at the store was unable to place the order at the store. I was told I could use a computer at the store to order the shredder. I am not going to put my personal information on a computer in any store. It seems really stupid that an associate at the store could not place an order for a customer. Not only did they make a great recommendation for a new one, but they walked me through setup and answered lots of questions (since I am not tech-savvy at all). I called and visited the store several times to get myself back up and running with the new laptop. I had simply amazing customer service from Alex, Margaret, Tom, and Lucas. If I could give less than one star, I would. While there are a few employees there who are genuinely nice and helpful people, a majority of the staff are the rudest, most unhelpful people I have ever come in contact with. They treat customers poorly and don't make an effort to make business with you. Also, this may be a company wide thing, but if their website says the store has it in stock, they more than likely don't because it can take up to 48 hours to update inventory so when you arrive, they actually don't have the item you just spent money on for you to pick up. And how do they fix that problem? Refunding you your money, not trying to transfer it from another store or ordering it for you. Each time, they were friendly and helpful. In one instance, I was not directed to the most expensive item but one that really fit my needs.
