Best Choice Roofing - beware if you have a leak in your roof, you cannot count on them for timely service! I contracted with Best Choice Roofing over a month ago to fix a small leak in my roof. Every time we get a rain, we have more damage. They sent someone out promptly to look at what needed to be done and I paid them 10% of a contract that I signed immediately. Over a month later, delay after delay and pushing back my work three times. Every time we think they are coming based on thier scheduling, they delay our appointment. Terrible responsiveness and delays for a project that should only take few hours at most. If your business is so bad that you must resort to door to door peddling I surely do not want your services. Trespassing on private property that is posted is also not smart. Leaving propanganda and taking unauthorized photos of said property and leaving a hangtag stating we have hail damage on a roof that is only a few years old and in an area that has not experienced hail is pathetic. Someone in my household knows this is a fact because they are a 3rd year Meteorology student. Smells of a scam to me. Shame on you. We are not elderly but our neighbors are. The salesman and his trainer approached me in my yard in March 4, 2023 to see if they could inspect my roof for storm damage. That should have been my first clue to not use them since they were out soliciting business. Of course, they found damage, and I submitted a claim to insurance. Per the insurance company inspector, my roof was shown to have damage and insurance approved a replacement, and everything was fine until the day the work was scheduled, May 4, 2023. Two hours past their scheduled time of arrival, I reached out to see where the crew was and was told that the previous job had run long, and they would be at my house between 10 and 11am. After 11, I reached out again and was told they would be there by 1pm by one person, and 2 by another. At 2:21 I reached out again and was told they were a half hour away. At 3:15pm, they finally showed up, over 8 hours late. I expressed my concern to both the production manager and the general manager that they would try to rush through the job and get my roof done that day, and was assured that would not happen. But that's exactly what happened and they were still on my roof at 9 p.m. when it was completely dark. There were obviously issues as a result of this, to include they did not install ridge vents which I previously had. Everything was eventually fixed a couple of days later and then the production manager reached out to me with what I still owe, which was $551 more than the total in the signed contract, and no explanation was given. After not getting an answer from the local company, I reached out to corporate and they explained the $551 is the supplement BCR filed with insurance, because the drip rails, rain diverter, and skylight kit replacement were not noted in the original insurance company inspection. Ok fine, but why couldn't someone locally tell me that? In addition to the install debacle, the biggest issues I faced as a result of using BCR include - * Physical damage to my house and property. They were so rough removing my roof that a crack formed between the drywall and trim on the inside of my skylight, and I had debris raining down into my bathroom through the crack. An additional crack has reformed in my kitchen doorway from them slamming packages of shingles down on the roof. They had no respect for my house or my yard, and repeatedly put packs of shingles on, or walked all over plants they could see. They drove in my yard and put huge ruts beside my driveway. They left nails and debris all around my house, but specifically on the front porch and in the driveway where it would have been very easy to pick up had it not been dark. BCR did eventually approve a $300 discount for all the issues I encountered, after I got the branch manager to come look at what all had happened. * Communication. It's nearly non-existent from them once they have you under contract, and was terrible with everyone locally except for one person in the office that I dealt with the last two days of the process. For example, I was not told the production manager who I placed my order with had moved to another position before the install, so when someone different called to make sure everything had arrived pre-install, I thought I was just dealing with someone else who's job it was to make that call. The previous production manager had told me she would be at my house the day of the install, and when no one showed up, I called her and left a voicemail. I had emailed her a few days prior to say that the materials had been delivered, and she never responded to either message. It would have taken 30 seconds to let me know she was no longer the production manager, but apparently, I wasn't worth her time. The salesman would only contact me when he wanted to get money from me, and never replied when I had questions, and wouldn't tell me what my final bill was once everything was installed and the discount was applied. I asked multiple times with no response. I had to call the office to find out the amount for the final check. * Zero attention to detail. In addition to not installing the ridge vents and the rain diverter initially, which are big issues, when BCR sent the final documents to my insurance company, they sent the close out documents and invoice, but did not send photos of the finished roof. I previously told them multiple times that my insurance company requires after photos to show completion of the roof. I had to get up on the roof and take photos and send them because I did not want BCR back on my roof again, and how long would it have taken to get someone back over here, delaying the process further? This was a very long and stressful nearly four-month ordeal. So many issues have happened over the past six weeks since the install, that I know I'm forgetting some of them. The bottom line is, I would not recommend this company under any circumstance. Save yourself a huge headache and find a reputable local company if you need a roof. read more

I have a no soliciting sign right on the door that their employee knocked on. I looked out of the window to the door to see a young guy with a reflective vest on standing in my driveway. I didn't open the door, and asked him what he needed. He claimed not to be able to hear me, so I opened the main house door and left the glass storm door closed and locked and asked him again, and again he claimed not to hear. I felt he was doing it to get me to come outside. I told him to come closer, and asked him again. He started by asking me if I had seen him around in the area, and I told him no. And he started some spiel about how he helped people with their roofs and that he was working for some person down the road I had never heard of, and that he was happy with their work kind of insinuating that the person had suggested coming to my house. I told him I wasn't interested and he kept talking and I told him good luck with that and shut the door. He gave off a very suspicious, slick, con-man type aura. It made me very uncomfortable, especially since I live alone. It was also after 5:00, which also made me suspicious. With all the scams out there and home invasions, it really creeped me out. I called the police non-emergency number and told them what had happened just in case. After speaking with them, I took my dog out and when I opened the door something hit me on the arm, and it was a business card from this company with his first name and last initial on it with what I am assuming was his cellphone number written in. He had stuck it in the top my door and it had fallen when I opened the door. I called the police back and let them know that he might actually be with a real business, and then let them know that even so, he and his mannerisms had really made me feel uncomfortable. They said they would send a car through the neighborhood just in case. After I got off the phone with them, I looked for a number online to contact the business just in case the card was fake and the number would be back to him. Once I found and called the number that was when I found out they are a local branch of a large company. I let the woman on the phone know that I was trying to verify an employee, and gave her the name and initial on the card. She transferred me to the branch in Roanoke that he was supposed to be working for, but because it was after 5 they were closed. After reading the reviews here, I am sure he must work for them, and that they are a borderline scam. Also, after reading one of the reviews here, I am now wondering if he took pictures of the house without my knowledge which is also creepy to me. If this is how they conduct their business and that's the type of person they have working for them, I certainly would never hire them. The real kicker is, I don't even own the house.
