A few things I would recommend for anyone working with DDK. #1. Do not accept the estimate as is. Look over the estimate and make sure that everything is spelled out, especially cost of labor versus materials for every aspect of the project. #2. Make sure that they say what they are going to do, and then follow up by doing what they said. I think they are about 25% too expensive on their rates. Their labor costs are way too high, it's likely a very large cut is going to the owner. I have another fencing project that I need completed, but I will not hire , nor do I recommend DDK. I will finish with a quote from the owner regarding this review, "You're going to remove it! Bad review that you wrote or did you also lie to me with that?" Caveat emptor.

I needed new siding on my home so I began getting quotes for the job. I knew it would be in the…read more$40,000 range and that's what I was expecting. Window world was the first company to give a quote and their consultant, Thomas Veasey came to my home. I told Tom that I was on a budget but I didn't want the cheapest product available because I wanted what I was going to spend that much money on to last. Tom went around my home and came back inside to give me his results. He attempted to upsell me on the siding, in his quote, he said I needed new gutters, facia, and soffits, with the gutters he added a leaf guard. By the time he added in labor, the dumpster and port-o-John, the disposal fee and taxes, his estimate was over $60,000. Since Tom's first estimate, I had 3 other companies come and NONE of them were over $45,000. All of the other estimates said my gutters, soffits and facia were fine and didn't need replacement. All 3 other companies included the disposal and taxes, etc. If you want to pay WAY more than you need to, then absolutely call Window World. As for me, they will never get a call from me again.

He bragged about his own house and asked to use my bathroom. I waited a week and even emailed him asking for the estimate, but never got one. I finally called their office to request another sales person who did get me an estimate. I was only warned about the construction mess so I was prepared for that. No one mentioned they don't work when it rains. I had to call and ask why no one showed up. No one suggested moving stuff away from the house to give them room to work. I took it upon myself to do that. After it was done, I hoped to replace an electrical outlet with a light fixture. They ordered the siding piece for the light fixture, got it, lost it and ordered another one. Six months later, after several calls from me, they came out with the new siding piece and realized they couldn't replace the outlet. I asked if they could put the light in a different spot that's easy to access. They could, but they'd have to charge me for it. Ok, that was fair. Someone would call me about it. That was over 3 months ago. I'm done calling them and obviously, they're done with me.

We followed their recommendation, worked with a plumber, and then had DLV make some other small fixes they'd recommended. When they came out for the repairs, they went above and beyond by painting the white pipe the plumber put in to make it blend with the roof more. They didn't charge extra for that, they just took the initiative. Also had a great experience with the scheduling staff. Katherine was even able to coordinate with us to have the team come sooner when there was a cancellation.

After waiting six weeks for the correct hip shingles to arrive through the hail and storms of April they then send a second subcontracted crew. Of course the second crew neglects to trim back the material at the ridge vents creating complete blockage, I bring this to DLV's attention and they argue with me, I say I'm bringing in an engineer, and they say let's have a certainteed inspector look at it for my 5-star warranty, of course the inspector sides with me. No responses, no updates, and certainly no appointment for warranty related repairs. I was even given a personal email and cell phone of the office manager, which has been turned off. It's the ultimate passive aggressive move. I actually contacted corporate in Texas who is now tired of dealing with them. The last response, "I can't force the franchise" to call you back. In essence, I'm on my own. I am wondering if even the various layers of protective sheeting that I paid for were even installed as another contractor is seeing bare wood underneath some shingles. Do not use this company or fall for their promises of warranty and follow through. They are mere storm chasers and looking to cash in after storms and wind damage. When you need them after the install, you're on your own after spending $25,000 of either yours or your insurer's money.
