First, I…read morehad the estimator come out just a couple days after I called, he spent an hour or so going over my house & checking the insulation and then figured out the estimate. I was shocked, with the PSE rebate, which NW Insulation takes care of, the estimate was thousands less than I thought it would be! I signed up, and a day or so later I got a call to schedule the install, again, surprisingly, they could do it right away and I scheduled for about a week out. The installers got to my house about 8am and were very polite and professional. They basically worked all day, got the job done, and were on their way. They left everything clean and it is amazing to me how the house looked when they were done. They blew in the insulation from the exterior and the method that they used left no trace, they removed a course of siding, drilled holes, filled the walls, plugged the holes, and replaced the siding. You can't even tell that they were there. I have only had a few hot days to determine if there has been an improvement and honestly it really does seem to stay cooler inside, looking forward to winter for the real test. All in all, this has been a great experience, I very highly recommend NW Insulation for your project.

Representative was confident and work was done to the tune of $6000+. Periodically checked immediate area and had exterminators down there bi-monthly with reports of minor moisture but overall OK. Orkin sent out a guy to perform an inspection and he reported the exact situation I paid to resolve. It was beyond 1 year but it is obvious they did not perform work I was promised. I asked them to honor the warranty 22 months after work, which I do know is beyond, but it is clear that they did not do work promised and I believe they should back up their work.

While inspecting the rodent issue, they also discovered mold in our attic. Alex provided many photos to show us the issue clearly. Alex was very careful to explain the entire process at the start of it so that there were no surprises during the process. They ended up removing all the old, contaminated insulation, thoroughly sanitized the attic, replaced with new insulation and wire mesh around the entire perimeter where any openings might exist. They effectively excluded all rod ents or pests from the attic. Alex came back for a follow up inspection and verified the attic is now vacant. Quality Workmanship: Even our electrician, who went up after they finished to check to see if the rats had damaged any wiring, commented on how clean the attic was and what a great job they had done. Cleanliness: I was worried about dust and debris coming from the attic down into the living areas of the house, but they created a plastic barrier Between where they were working and the living areas that left our home spotless when they were done. The crew was courteous and focused throughout the entire process. The price was very reasonable and fair. If you need attic services or pest remediation, my wife and I highly recommend them!

In related news, I later found out that asking adding a surcharge for debit transactions is actually illegal per U.S. Federal law. Good to know. (https://usa.visa.com/dam/VCOM/download/merchants/surcharging-faq-by-merchants.pdf) You might bring this up when they attempt to do charge you for a debit card, which my agent did. They can charge up to 3% for credit cards. Nevertheless, the good folks are the office were very nice about reversing the double-charge. I am waiting to see when it comes through. Pro's - Basic work seemed to be done well and at a price that was competitive with others I contacted at least for the basic service. - Communication was prompt. - After some re-scheduling on their part, the team did the work swiftly and efficiently. - Most of the terms were clear in advance, using Yelp Projects. Con's - This is a fairly shiesty corner of the home maintenance world. Many providers seem to give you a low-ball estimate to get in the door and then upsell significantly. - Envirosmart is not an exception. - The initial quote was $200. This included scoping the ducts and doing the negative pressure clean-out. - Onsite, they then upsold me to $670 for a more thorough brushing of the vents, sanitation, and some other ancillary services. - They were only modestly well-organized. They called the day-of to reschedule because of a conflict with internal training. They also confirmed a different time than I had originally scheduled. It was the difference of a 9 to 11am original window and a 2:30-3pm arrival. - The Yelp Project communication could have been clearer. They did not specify whether they were calling to quote me or coming to do the service! Amid all this and with some clarification and flexibility on our part, we worked it out. I would have appreciated either a discount or additional service for the delay. None was proffered. I did not go ahead with the upsell as I had already gotten quotes for less from other providers with somewhat more transparent pricing. I think the work they did appeared fine. See attached pics. Your guess is as good as mine which are before and which are after! They did not specify when they sent them to me and email took off the timestamp. I'm hoping the cleaner ones. I probably will try another service when I do this again and with a higher rated provider. All in all, though, I had low expectations and those low expectations were met.

My experience with EcoShield started with a door-to-door salesperson who represented himself as the…read moresupervisor for my area. The way the service was explained led me to believe the roughly $200+ price covered a service period with scheduled treatments and return visits if needed. I did not understand that I would be charged roughly another $200 for each scheduled service. The salesperson also repeatedly told me I could cancel at any time. I do not remember him clearly explaining that cancellation could result in a substantial early termination fee. I signed on his tablet at the door and was not handed a copy of the agreement during that conversation. After another service charge appeared, I realized the pricing was not what I believed had been represented. I also continued having pest issues after treatment. When I cancelled, EcoShield assessed a disputed $276.38 balance. I disputed it repeatedly in writing and asked them to address the actual sales presentation, identify the salesperson, and provide the related sales/enrollment records. Instead, they continued pointing me back to the written contract and have continued contacting me for payment. I have documented the matter with the Washington Attorney General, BBB, and FTC. My advice: if someone from EcoShield comes to your door, get the complete agreement first and specifically ask how much each visit costs, how many paid visits you are agreeing to, and the exact cancellation fee before signing anything. Based on my experience, I would not recommend them.
