Still, it's better to have something rather than nothing! This place was very inexpensive, which was perfect for my budget because I don't have much to spend! We do not see that part of the name on any of their papers, but it fits. The rooms are quite spare, though fine. I would prefer a more comfortable mattress, which feels a little springy. I am sure the hotel is doing as best they can however. I respect this place so far, we are early in our 9-day stay here. My husband is being hosted here by a local university where he is visiting. I see mostly other business-looking travelers staying here. Breakfast is included, and we are able to have our dog with us. This is good given kenneling him in the U.S. was prohibitively expensive (though flying him everywhere is def not cheap). At our midnight check-in, we met the delightful and very friendly overnight consierge, while we were here. The weekend breakfast woman, whose name I've forgotten, is also quite nice. Weekdays, the breakfast service is colder. The breakfast itself is a glorified continental which was quite good, yogurt, muesli, tons of meats and cheeses, spreads and bread, juices (orange and grapefruit) and good, strong coffee, and teas. It is delightfully sunny here in Aix, a stark contrast to our recent 5-week grey London stay, and this hotel provides outdoor seating as well, shielded from the street traffic by plantings, which is a nice feature.

Toilet was oddly placed in a very small stand-alone room the size of a broom closet. The shower was elegant, yet the half wall of glass caused pooling of water on the bathroom floor, no matter how careful we were. No bathroom fan was also a letdown. Small kitchenette, toilet separate from wash room, two balconies, and a living room. More space than we needed, but really appreciated it. The room was slightly dated, but we do not mind as long as it is clean (and safe). We only need the room to sleep in. We spend all or our time in the city we are visiting. And especially thank you for having hotel laundry. If you are following, we have to do laundry every week for our extended travels. Ambiance - See above. Perfect location to all the tourist spots, in the middle of both the North and South Marseilles. Modern lobby. Very small cafe. Safe - You need a room key to get into the building after 10pm and to use elevators. Service - 6 stars. The manager here was more than accommodating and welcoming. Even gave us a verbal exit survey to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Price - Less than $150 a night. Owner Comment - Thanks for an affordable well located place to stay. I was extremely hesitant to stray away from booking a typical hotel, as that is what I am used to, but after seeing the state of the Airbnb's in Marseille, I am truly grateful we went with Staycity! Everyone was so kind and welcoming from the very first day, to the very last minute! The small touches of tea in the lobby or lemon water/ croissants. The "good morning, how are you?" And the security at the doors really made us feel so safe and welcome in our home away from home. The bed was a little firm but the pillows were cozy and it was nice to have so much space to spread out after long days of exploring. I will be highly recommending Staycity to all of my friends and family if they ever visit Marseille. Y'all are amazing, thank you for great memories!
